>He calls Steve Vai "good"

>he can't even play guitar
>he is a vaporwave peasant
>he talks shit about the guitar god Steve Vai

He is. Note that overrated doesn't equal bad.

*fedora bro tipping his unique hat towards the camera*

>implying it is possible to overrate Steve Vai
Words cannot describe how good he is. In fact I'm grossly underrating him with this statement.

i dont really care about steve vai

but joe satriani is over rated i think

barely anybody says that because no normal gives a shit about steve vai

what's next, shitting on Eddie Van Halen?

He has mad skills but he's an overall boring player. He's a beast under the right composser (Zappa).

Also, his guitar models are dated as fuck.

If I wanted to listen to musicians wanking on their instruments, I would rather listen to a piano piece or a jazz standard. Beats random notes being played at blazing speeds with zero note dynamics.

>random notes being played at blazing speeds with zero note dynamics
Confirmed for not having listened to the posted song.

He is, considering other shreders out there. He's one of the most knowledgeable for sure, but lacks the composing skills of Malmsteen, Fripp or Holdsworth.

>Beats random notes being played at blazing speeds with zero note dynamics.

That's one of the biggest minsconceptions of guitar virtuosos and for the most parts denotes ignorance or envy at some degree.

>20 years since this masterpiece.... I continue to enjoy it with the same surprise as the first time

>The theme is incredible, the best record, I have it tattooed on my arm

Is Steve Vai chicano-core now?

>random notes

no

Latinos love fedora stuff.

>the composing skills of Malmsteen
Malmsteen is great and I truly enjoy his stuff, but he isn't half as original as Vai when it comes to composing, he repeats himself all the time. He has great musicality and all but composing is probably one of is main weaknesses.

Now this is some semi-decent bait.
6/10

I honestly think his compositions have more complexity than most of the virtuosos out there, but yeah, he does abuse of certain movements.

I'm not really a fan of virtuosos, not my thing, but the more I get into guitar and music theory, the more I'm impressed with those guys. I wish they experimented with more effects, kinda like Nick Reinhart.

>he calls steve "vai"

welp user, not all of us have the privilege of being close friends with the man

He's getting old, and his sloppiness is showing. He makes quite some mistakes the last time I saw him live. Still a good musician nonetheless, but he's pretty much heavily pentatonic influenced isn't it.

>Still a good musician nonetheless, but he's pretty much heavily Lydian influenced isn't it.
FTFY

That too, I was basing it off Passion and Warfare, that one seems very pentatonic based, but it's been very long since I listened to Vai.

Is this our new meme?

Nah Steve Vai doesn't rap.

sure he can play good but he can't write a song worth shit. boring as hell

>he can't write a song worth shit

>2015
>being a Vai fanboy
>on Sup Forums of all places

He has some songs that are nice, like Whispering a Prayer, and songs that are just fluff, like The Crying Machine.

I just hate his overusage of the whammy bar, it's extremely untasteful and really ear-shattering.

better than being a Vektroid fanboy if you ask me

is this a meme? the beginning of Vaiposting

youtube.com/watch?v=3aatEBIZHNU

this is far more interesting and aurally pleasing than everything steve vai has released in his career

Satriani makes very catchy music and is usually straightforward and not very technical, much more bluesy and pentatonic based in his improvisations
youtube.com/watch?v=q_m0-f7N9hM
youtube.com/watch?v=5dMX7IpXnIc

Steve Vai has a different style and is more technically capable with the whole trick bag, but still very natural sounding music
youtube.com/watch?v=AKpCVgMKhOs
youtube.com/watch?v=oqF3dE5RIcI

I much prefer Satriani but Vai has a lot of great songs too, and I love his playing style.
