7/10 taste, prolly a lil' twink though

I'ma just end this here, your taste is built from attempting to avoid mainstream music by immersing yourself in shit /alternative/ artists so you can look fake deep and have /good taste/

you have angst in you

>Kate Bush
>Cocteau Twins
>My Bloody Valentine
>Metric
>Miles Davis
>Oddjob
>Jaga Jazzist
>Tonbruket
>The Beatles
>The Olivia Tremor Control
>Destiny's Child
>Blue Öyster Cult
>This Town Needs Guns
>The Supremes
>Hall & Oates
>Tommy Tutone

That's as far back as mine goes.

Thread should have ended here

[insecurity intensifies]

this is bait right?

wew lad

Ty
I'm not insecure at all
I listen to music that people call bad because I enjoy it, unironically because fuck that pretentious bullshit

Also, the majority of this board is insecure in themselves so they listen to obscure bullshit and have to ask "how do I get into this?" bc they don't actually like any of it
If you don't see it then you're blind and part of the problem

I meant the insecurity joke towards myself as in you said I have shit music therefore my music insecurity intensified

Ohh shit sorry man! I've been on this site for too long, everything seems like a condescension now...
But seriously, go listen to some of the shit this board hates

Do you man. Fuck people who say don't listen to certain artists because they aren't obscure or some other bullshit.

I've been meaning to listen to BadBadNotGood since I heard Tyler, The Creator mention them on that song about his grandma dying
What are they like? I mainly listen to shoegaze, hip-hop, and just generally emo shit with stuff like Troye Sivan thrown in during summer

...

Well I feel like i'd be the wrong person to ask because i've only listened to III, but it was some pretty tight Instrumental Jazz and I really liked it.

I'll redouble my effort to actually listen, I've been shirking it to listen to the same old stuff recently and I really need new music
Thanks man!

Pleb tastes coming through

forgot pic because i'm an idiot.

we have very similar taste in music

>Fleshgod Apocalypse
>pleb
I disagree

Anybody like part chimp

No

I don't know about that. When I approach new music, I'm hoping more to understand it than enjoy it (liking it would be nice too of course). I know what you mean about Normies trying too hard to "get" things they perceive as cool, but I would ask someone the same question looking for context on why said music is popular, why an individual enjoys it, etc.

Listening to music to understand it is still pretentious tho, as an art it exists for enjoyment through listening and the atmosphere it provides. If you don't listen to music to enjoy the music then you're doing it wrong

Trying to find a universally shared understanding of any art is a very "gatekeeper" thing to do and it limits the evolution of art form
Separation from normies is part of the problem, you build an isolationist approach which is negative

very good acts here

Run the Jewels

Daft Punk

Just want to clarify that I'm not one of those normies but I absolutely understand why you would think that, obliviously there is no way to prove that cause you don't know me personally but I do genuinely like these bands simply because they are good and interesting and not because other frontmen of other bands said that they like them, I'm not one of those people that show off there superior music taste without knowing very much about them or being in denial about actually even liking them

Gogo Penguin
Skepta

doing it right

Agent orange are so good and actually a pretty underrated punk band

Woodkid

I like what I like. That tends to be more poppier and catchy sounding acts of their genres.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

>Queens of the Stone Age
>Pulled Apart by Horses
>Hella
>Pile
>Piglet
>The Redneck Manifesto
>BBNG

Their first 2 albums are mostly jazz renditions of famous rap and hip-hop songs, they've kind of trailed off to more traditional jazz with their third album. I'd stay start with their cover of Flashing Lights by Kanye west. If you like the sound of that, I'd highly recommend BBNG II

twf no darkthrone

top tier though

so i guess u like garbage

haven't listened to darkthrone in while

seems like everyone else is posting a lot more than me, so I'll continue a bit

probably all pleb as fuck, but I don't even care

All art isn't made to be enjoyed. That's a really consumerist way to look at things. Alot of artists, individually and collectively, create to translate information through their art. Dadaism and impressionism being two movements where enjoyment is a byproduct of understanding it.

A better word than Normies would have been consumers, in other words ppl that don't care for the history of art or the ideas translated through it and just use it as a social tool for dancing or fucking or whatever. But I didnt mean to imply that's "wrong". Others don't have to be music spergs like me, that's fine, I'm just saying because I have a deeper interest in music (mainly in its history), I don't listen to things with the express purpose "enjoying it". oR maybe I enjoy more music differently. Idk I fee like you get what I mean either way.

I'm under the impression that people aren't naturally very picky about most things, music included. The historical and social context of music makes certain music more interesting/relatable, which I think is how taste is generally derived, rather than "these guys are more talented because *insert arbitrary technique*"

Stop being a gatekeeper, taste is subjective and you're being a dick

I already admitted to liking the poppy and easily digested acts. Why you so bitter about my taste, user? Is the lack of Swans triggering you?

Everything Everything is a really fun band. One of those rare acts where every song sounds different and fresh. Modest Mouse does that for me too.

where do i go to find this information

Yeah, I saw Get to Heaven posted a lot but I wanted to start from their first album. Like what I heard

I usually listen to few artist for a period of time and then move to next few
now I have playlists for HIM, Chris Cornell and some musicals

seriously, there is no option to view recent artists

Interesting what you say about consumers not caring about the art or history. I almost always only listen to a band if the songwritng and artistic vision is very good, I couldn't listen to acdc or van halen because they don't care for depth or artistry therefore it's pretty meaningless. As you could imagine this make me look very prentous in front of my friends when I trash there EDM music taste

Absolutely, if you like the wall of guitar sound that Burzum has you'll like Telepathic with the Deceased. Funeral of Being and Subliminal Genocide are some other great records of his

For fuck sake, I switched to Spotify so that I wouldn't have to manage music track by track like that steaming turd iTunes made me do.

I love Spotify but that's bullshit to me. What other services have better offline limits, or is there a way to bypass this with Spotify?

I love their first two albums, I can't really get into their stuff after that except maybe a small hand full of songs like 'The Masterplan' and Stop 'Crying Your Heart Out'.Other than that their first two albums are filled with great hitters.

He was getting tired of BM and physically couldn't play it anymore. I think Noturnal Poison (his new band) is pretty damn good, then again I'm a folk fan

Have they bumped up the limit?

I'll have to check it out. I heard he changed the name of the band back to Xasthur

Ye the first two records are pretty flawless but what turned me off them was there retarted fans who constantly claim that there are "the best band of all time" but haven't heard any of there shit materiel from the post-be here now days

From what I've read it's 3333 and I feel like that's about the number I'm at. I've signed up for the free trial of Apple Music to try it since I hit Spotify's limit and the app keeps crashing on my phone, but the interface for Apple is beyond shite.

Spotify should just remove the limit. They already made a great decision by making the family plan 15 bucks with 5 member slots

How do you guys deal with the limit? I feel like that's something people here would detest
