Favourite Ae

In light of elseq 1-5, what are our favourite Autechre albums?
Mine is Exai

Exai, Oversteps, and elseq for me.
It's a shame we probably won't get elseq (Versions), I could go for hour-long versions of freulaeux and spaces how v.

>had a chance to get Exai on vinyl when it came out
>didn't
>costs like $70 now

music for this feel?

youtube.com/watch?v=TGA68vYFytw

I'm going through the AE discography for the first time right now, I'm up to LP5 (I'm also listening to all of the EPs that /aeg/ deems essential).

So far, I'd rank the albums Tri Repetae > Amber > LP5 > Incunabula > Chiastic Slide.

How much time do you guys think I should spend with one LP/EP before I move on to the next? Should I just have a general feel for the album, or should I able to see song titles and be able to recall what the track sounded like?

changes a lot but my top 3 atm are

>chiastic slide (prob my fav overall)
>confield
>elseq (tho oversteps, tri rep, or draft often fill this spot)

thats p subjective mate - should be sort of an instinctual thing. not really any formula, just whenever u feel comfortable enough to mpve on i s'pose.

do you lads reckon that the european tour will result in more ae_live?

yeah, after the ra interview i'm definitely under that impression. sean & rob said they'd be programming until the fall so i figure it'll be pretty different from the '14/'15 live shows.

now that they have the ae_store i believe we're in a new era of proliferation with these blokes. psyched for the future...

>not my dads.jpg

Chiastic Slide
Tri Rep
LP5

Elseq is gr8 tho. Like where they're going with the website distribution concept.

xylin room bitches.

Remember that dark period of /ae/ when people were pretending Draft 7.30 was better than Confield? Glad that's over!

Probably jumping the gun big time here but I seriously think elseq might be my favorite.

LP5 and recently really crushing on Oversteps

bump

as you get further along you should spend more time with each album, there is a lot to take in

I just noticed that Rob is giving Sean bunny ears in that pic lol

cheeky

>that moment prac-f becomes groovy as shit

Exai is still growing on me to this day. No doubt my favorite record of theirs.

Close second would be Confield or LP5.

anyone seeing them live this fall?

me in sean's mouth

/manchester/ here

incunabula
amber
tri repetae

the rest is shit for noobs

this is the shittiest ae opinion I've ever seen

A tie between Untilted and LP5. I maintain that Untillted is a misunderstood masterpiece, though.

This is probably bait, but I've always wondered why big fans of the first few albums ignore Chiastic. It's like their in limbo album cause the ppl who prefer later Ae forget about it as well.

seans also holding his vape pen

why rob look like a male model

keep your eyes on discogs, scored a near mint copy for about 30 euros a while back

Autechre more like autism lol

aw really? found it at a store around a year after it came out (it was about $40 tho), maybe you'll get lucky

wow stop posting anytime

Favorite is still Confield.
EP7 is great though.
vinyl's a meme anyways
lol

Are you me? Untilted and LP5 are my fav AELPs too. Both have a great sense of pacing and consistency that other albums of theirs don't quite reach. Also, they complete each other very well - LP5 is them at their most melodic, while Untilted is their rhythm-heaviest LP.

Easily Confield

I'm starting to think Elseq is one of their weaker albums. Not as average as Quaristice, but they've released much better things before.

Interesting that you put Amber over LP5

But I would say to wait for the next album until you mostly understand/can enjoy your current one. I spent about a month on each album.

wew quaristice and elseq are two of my favourites

>$70

elseq is their most varied release with some of their craziest tracks

fuck are you on about

quaristice or oversteps but i still have a good amount to still check out

Quaristice

what

I'm telling which is the better one.

Amber is GOAT

ah, they kinda go back and forth for me. now i cant hear the much older works without them seeming cheesy

Me too. Even Tri repetae.

tri repetae>amber>incunabula>chiastic slide
I'll give to these few more listens then move to their more experimental releases; thus far, it was a bit underwhelming :/

>I spent about a month on each album
i wish I had enough timeā€¦

Tri Rep still sound really fresh to my ears, apart from Gnit and maybe the strings on Leterel.

It's more of a track by track thing for me - some tracks really work still but a few are definetly dated (Doctrine and Silverside especially come to mind). However I dunno if I'd say old Ae were cheesy, cause even back then the tracks weren't so in your face with overbearing "emotional" melodies.

Yeah, in Italy with Swans

>I spent about a month on each album.
oh shit, thats a lot more time than i'm spending on them

don't worry - i'm sure it works for that user but you prob don't need that much time with them. at least i didn't!

My favorites in no particular order:
LP5, EP7, Confield, Draft, Untilted, Quaristice, Exai
Can't rank them as they're all unique. Didn't have the chance to delve into Oversteps, definitely the next one on my list.

I gotta be honest here, I really can't stand Incunabula and Amber. Tri Repetae and Chiastic do have their moments, but they're still 2ambient4me. Also, very repetitive.

As for elseq, I've listened to the whole thing, it's really overwhelming. Maybe too much, dunno. Not even Sean and Rob know what it is. How can we?

We all agree eastre is the best track on elseq, right?

That's not spaces how V.

yeah listening to any kind of music shouldnt be "scheduled" or "require x time". enjoy it how you want

i listen to a new album/ep by ae every few months and that gives me enough time to appreciate the next one. there's just so many of them jesus christ

Tri Repetae, Untilted and Confield are my favorites.

Still haven't heard elseq except for the first few tracks. It's so damn long. I hope I'll like it as much as Exai...

Elseq, Oversteps, Confield, Tri, Incunabula probably

Man, that RA interview is so fucking good. Already read it like 3 times.
