First few listens of an album are fantastic

>first few listens of an album are fantastic
>every listen after is completely forgettable

Has this ever happened to you, Sup Forums? What album?

Yes, but not this album. This shit's 9.5/10

I wanted to start it off with something non-controversial, because the same thing happened with Kid A.

What album for you?

There's been plenty. I can't say I hate them, but they are much less significant then they were before.

I loved Plastic Beach to death, but listening to it over and over got me a little overused to it. I'll put up some others if they come to me

I had the exact opposite experience with that album. Couldn't care about it at first, now every track except Scatterbrain is at least pretty good.

I know the feel though, Times of Grace by Neurosis used to be my GOAT but I listened to it again recently and it just didn't have an effect on me.

No joke, but same thing happened with A Moon Shaped Pool. First time it was 10/10 but everytime after i cant remember a single track after Burn The Witch

This seems to be really common with Radiohead. Same thing with The Beatles for me, I used to love Abbey Road but now I don't.

Opposite for me, I was actually pretty underwhelmed at first. Now I can safely say its one of my favourite albums at the moment.

Yeah, after 200+ listens, this album starts to wear thin

I had the opposite reaction. Couldn't care less before but now I love most tracks.

loveless, unfortunately

Weird, I felt exactly the opposite with HTTT. First listen didnt click, but every listen after was great.

...

I only ever liked Frontier Psychiatrist, but yeah.

I find myself liking it more nowadays after not liking it in the first place.

happened to me with Illinois by Sufjan. Can't tell you any tracks after the man of metropolis

also happened with Gloss Drop by Battles. was my top record of 2014 or whenever it came out at the time, couldn't tell you anything about it now

Africastle is still the shit though

ya, i'm with you, it blew my mind the first time, but everytime i listen to it once more, it gets worse

fucking low attention span plebs

I Got This Feeling With A Night At The Opera By Queen. I Only Can Remember Bohemian Rhapsody And You're my Best Friend, But That's About It.

Honestly I would put HTTT probably below The Bends King of limbs.

But Kid A is one of those albums that just get better every time you listen to it.

Not for me, I loved Idioteque and The National Anthem at first but since the third or so listen I've stopped. The other songs never clicked. OK Computer does get better each listen for me though.

I tend to be the other way around.

Those two songs were great, but the one that made me become a Radiohead fan was How to Disappear Completely. I wouldn't be a fan without that song.

Strange. Their rock stuff keeps growing on me but Kid A and after have all been uninteresting to me. Is it backwards to you?

This happened to me because I listened to it so much during finals in highschool but now I've started listening to it again.

(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)(you)

it is, I do remember that I love that song every time I listen to the album

as a big Arctic Monkeys fan at the time, this.

Listened to it for the first time after he died a couple times, now I feel no reason to listen to it.

I really loved go to sleep when i first heard it
listened to it like 15 times
now i can't stand it
same with rhinestone eyes

TLOP.

>I only ever liked the worst song anyway, but yeah

I still can't believe he died a couple times. So strange.

this album was amazingly life-changing, the best thing i'd ever heard, new favourite, 10/10... for about 72 hours

i mean, i don't think it's bad or forgettable now, but it's 'just' good. it's weird that i had such a strong initial emotional reaction only for it to disappear again just days later. usually it takes time to build such a bond with an album, but that bond stays. i wonder what kind of place i was in when i first heard it, but i can't recall. i only remember loving it dearly. for 72 hours.

brains are weird

Yeah, I think I listened to Scarlette a couple times, but never listened to that album after the first full listen. Still consider it a good album thogh.

this was a serious 10/10 on first listen...
never trust first listens albums that have to grow on you are the best
