How come 80's pop was so much better than today's pop music?
I'd take Prince and Michael Jackson over Drake and 21 Pilots any day.

You'd need brain damage to disagree, but I just think the problem is artists making music for profit and fame and none of it comes from their heart or has any meaning to them. It's just chintzy crap that exists just to exist, people will force themselves to like it for lack of anything better.
Well the 80's had stupid songs too but at least they were catchy and not overproduced.
I'd take a stupid 80's song over "deep" lyrics like "I AM BLURRYFACE AND I CARE WHAT YOU THINK"
Who else agrees with me that this was the quintessential song of the 80's. Electronic Drums , Heavy on Keyboards and synths, Tie in to a famous movie soundtrack. Soaring vocals.
Holy shit, post more 80s classics, please
I really like 80s music actually, I love the empty coked out synth sound.
>Not posting best H&O
>there are people posting on this board RIGHT NOW who don't think Arcadia was the height of 80's pop
daryl hall is a great vocalist

Yes I unironically enjoy Wham
80s music is delicious indeed, just not all of it. It was a time when a lot of progressive rock and punk musicians from the 70s tried the new found synth pop formula of the decade, resulting in tons of great music.
I have to say though, without being a fan of popular music in general, i think it's gotten better over the last 3-4 years. There's “some“ listenable stuff out there.
>this is what 14 year olds actually believe
wait 15 years and your kids will be saying the same thing about the 2010s
Because artists put emphasis on music and catchiness, then on vocal tonality, and lyrics took the last place in terms of relevance.
It also helps that a mix of synth and blowing instruments always makes everything sound fun as fuck.
Today, lyrics rule, and music is secondary. It's all about self-important faggots trying to be messengers and saviors, or narcissistic Facebook faggots focusing on having everyone listen to their putrid irrelevant opinions and thoughts.
Welcome to the present era of narcissism. It has infected music.
Not that there aren't good musicians today. Take techno music for example.
It has such popularity because it's techno, but most importantly because the artist is focused on the music rather than on making some message.
I guess i can use techno as an example to support my previous claims.
This video made my day, now this must be posted.
I agree, these shallow faggots should just write poems, but then they couldn't disguise it's shittiness with shitty music.
So OP you wish you could turn back time to the good dope days?
Even the fucking movies in the 80's had better music than actual music today:

Uh, yeah, about that. We have a pretty bad opiate problem now, so it would be fitting.
No one has posted I Like It yet? This is one of the tightest songs ever made
