The music is awful.
I want to lick their feet tho
brilliant subversion of the fixiation on "authenticity" prevalent in underground metal fan circles
pretty okay pop metal
I want to smell their farts.
Shit
Its alright, the instruments need to stand out a little more though. Just feels like j pop if they dont.
The union of the two most autistic genres to ever exist.
I think of them as a cute and lulzy novelty. Nuthing more.
Their armpits will be delicious exactly. I want them.
They're 12 or something you sad fucks.
i preferred the first album, it's more idol-like and feels like a better combination of the two halves
METAL RESISTANCE is mostly just assy metal that happens to have girl vocals, although "Syncopation", "Awadama Fever" and "From Dawn to Dusk" are pretty nice
plus, ever since BABYMETAL and BiS, there are idol groups working with a huge range of genres and sounds, so the novelty appeal isn't as strong as it was in 2012

Its alright, the second album is much better.
i want to recommend these better groups:

Extremely banal mainstream metal, barely elevated by cute j-pop elements. It could have been good if they had more of an 80s metal sound. It baffles me that they have a general in /jp/
There are way better blends of idolshit and metal in the Vocaloid canon, although none of them are stellar.
Not only has the dust settled, but I can see tumbleweeds everywhere.
the most forward thinking group in metal today
>vocaloid
>idol
they are simulated idols
a lot of them are just voice banks with no avatar
the ones that are popular are usually the avatar ones, but the nijigen otaku that enjoy them are completely apart from idol wota
ah, ok. thanks for the clarification.
Sickos
Well, at least she looked 18.
>there are idol groups working with a huge range of genres and sounds
examples?
see:
I've been noticing that Anime OP and ED music has more elements commonly ascribed to metal (for example, many tracks use double bass drumming). Also the math rock influence grows and grows (thinking of the koufuku graffiti and subete f ni naru endings). What makes babymetal special then? I know they have fools from coaltar of the deepers play on tracks but is that it?

I saw them live, it was a blast
the kind of anison you're talking about is usually performed by bands, BABYMETAL is an idol group
in 2010, when BABYMETAL were formed, there were almost no idol groups performing heavy music - 80 PAN! did it to minor critical acclaim in 2007, but their formation was close enough to a band (Oozora Saya played guitar) that the sound didn't contrast with their image and it went largely unnoticed by the mainstream.
BABYMETAL is deliberately a contrast between two different images and sounds - their first song "Doki Doki Morning" is clearly a joke, but when it was accepted by their fans and was enough to shock outsiders, they began putting more effort into the music and eventually it became a huge hit
