4 all the lurkers
not the saddest song but it's my favorite ever and it is sad
youtube.com
or at least melancholy
good answer
good pick
not as good as red house painters
i mean, yeah
epilogue is slightly sadder i think
not even bjork's saddest song
>not haunting presence
some good picks in this thread, but this is the saddest, quantitatively. we're all nothing, nothing important. youtube.com
Sonic Youth - Diamond Sea
what, i post a sixteen minute song and you just HAVE to outdo me?
leadbelly, in the pines/ where did you sleep last night.

also two corvettes
i really wish i could get into this guy, cause it's my exact kind of music, but his voice just annoys me so much for some reason
Wasn't there a study on the effects different songs had on the body? I believe that study determined youtube.com
that song's not even sad, it's just long and boring
that song just calms me down
yeah he's not a great singer. the only real redeeming quality of his music is the lyrics most of the time and that's why i listen
youtube.com
Always get a feeling from this one
Am I the only guy who actually dislikes Conor Oberst's lyrics?I really like some of the lyrics he's put out, but he comes out with these pretentious "writerly" affectations that don't communicate anything.
He seems like he wants to write but has nothing to say.
(I like most of the song you posted, though)
The opening track on IWAIM is a good example. The line "it was a BEAUTIFUL splash" has always pissed me off.
Mountain Goats are just better, imo;
This song made me cry for the first year or so i listened to it:

>it's 3 days later when I get the call
>and there's nobody around to break my fall

neo-psychedelic depression
...
>bright eyes - first day of my life
>tallest man - gardener
subjectively sad, but they absolutely devastate me when i hear them. that grief.
Idk
Forever Close My Eyes is way sadder imo
spoken like a true pleb

best i could do OP
>no one posts "tears in heaven"
this is more peaceful euphoria than sad but ive been trying to get into radiohead and this might do it

probably a little too straightforward for some of you guys but these destroy me
that sounded pretentious as shit, sorry

i've overused Robitussin to try to cope for the past 3 years.
i gotta find something else. makes me stay up for over 24 hours and hypersensitive to sunlight.
for the past year it doesn't quite feel the same as it used to...
idk where i'm going
i feel like i'm going to end up an opiate addict and die young like everyone else around here trying to get a fix
Mah nigga, I know that feeling. I tried to listen to F A ∞ a week ago when I was plastered drunk but I just couldn't deal with it. I've been on the edge since high school. Things are finally looking up for the first time in my entire life, but the feeling lingers in the back of my mind. I'm afraid I won't be able to hold on for much longer.
stay up famalambs
I've got more where that came from.

Forever Close My Eyes is kind of uplifting if you ask me. It's for sure depressing, but Untitled is lamenting just how bad civilization and human history is.

Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst
10 minutes of straight depression
youtube.com
A nice, wholesome sadness
the only things keeping me from killing myself are my parents and my sister. and not for my own personal reasons. just because i know it would destroy them if i did, and i can't do that to them
dying - xtc
this track fucked me up
As someone who had parents who separated this hits hard.
>no one's posted objectively the saddest song ever
Eugene always made me feel more sad
I haven't found this kind of song very sad since high school, not like that's a bad thing, just an observation.
This hidden gem.

This song is the saddest for me, not for the actual music but because of the state Freddy was in when recording this and how he references all of it.

So You Wanna Be A Superhero? is up there in the feels scale, too
actual answer coming through
i know deathgrips is a meme, but that guitar part is so fucking good on that song
such a beautiful album
i've had an experience to sea of teeth youtube.com
no beach boys? wow.
youtube.com
yes
it's the performance that kills me desu. The studio recordings don't have the same impact on me
since listening to the song again i found it very sad. why does he take off his shirt though
Good choice. The Dixie Chicks' cover is much less depressing and actually probably better executed. Check it out.

>those harmonies
Fuck yes
there's and undercurrent of homolust running through their music and I think that's one aspect of it
I wish there were spoiler tags so I could admit to owning a scrap of his shirt from a more recent concert
are radiohead particularly inaccessible in any way?
genuine question
I can relate to the homolust
how'd you come to get a piece of his shirt lol? i wish i had spoiler tags so i could ask if you ever huff it
Since forever, Morrissey takes off his shirt at some point during the concert and throws it to the crowd.
I went to a live show and ended up being in the right position to catch it. I guess the security are warned beforehand because they came with scissors to divide it up between people arguing over it. My piece was snatched away by a spiteful looking woman in her 50s who disappeared into the crowd, but the friend I was with gave me the scrap he got because he wasn't interested.
makes me wanna give my dad a hug
youtube.com
but did you sniff it?
he changed his shirt a few minutes before throwing it out, so the only smell was a subtle hint of cologne, which I would describe as like cool mountain air. This was years ago and any scent has long faded away
that's what i like to hear user
>ywn snift morrishitty's armpits
Why even live?
>push son out of window
>write song
>???
>push
This live video of his always gets me

Yes. Idk why but this always reminded me of the acoustic version of True Love Waits
Speaking of, how the fuck hasn't the album version been posted?
It's a kind of sorrow that's new to me. Before, when I'd have suicidal thoughts or I wouldn't be able to get out of bed or rejection from a girl would make me think I'd never find love, I'd always step back from the proverbial (and once, literal) bridge because I'd decide that there's still some hope out there. In other words, even if 99 times out of 100 it goes wrong, it's still worthwhile to live through the pain for that 1.
I'm 22 now. The hope is falling away from me. As much as I'd like to make something beautiful out of this life, every day brings more evidence that'll never happen. True Love Waits is sadness stripped away of everything maudlin. This is my life.
Anyways, True Love Waits isn't on Spotify, Youtube, or Soundcloud, so I can't link it.
