L-L-L-L LET THE BEAT ROCK

This was the biggest thing for quite a while, and now you never hear from them. How could they have fallen so far?

Aren't they uncle and nephew? That always made me feel weird

GIRL LOOK AT THAT BODY

...

I couldn't escape this fucking song when it was big.

They're are hits by their time. Thread makes no sense at all.

>Whether or not a single becomes a hit depends on geographical location. Musical taste varies considerably, and singles that are not hits in their country of origin sometimes become hits elsewhere. For example, Blind To The Groove, released in 1998 by UK band Ultra, did not chart in the UK but became a top ten hit in Spain. Nicole Scherzinger is far more popular in the UK, than her native US, scoring a number one single in 2011 (Don't Hold Your Breath) in the UK, as well as other hits there, but with little success in the US as a solo artist.

from "Hit single" article (wiki)

Makes more sense talking about the artists that peaked and disappeared or flopped off the charts.

- Hillary Duffy
- LMFAO
- Psy
- Britney Spears (maybe)

They need a Records label boost in the matketing or a Max Martin touch.

Oh god

I had a friend who worked at a restaurant where RedFoo used to come in all the time with his girlfriend.

Every once in a while I'm Sexy And I Know It would start playing on the speakers and he would get visibly depressed.

Once his girlfriend asked him "Do you want to go?" and he was like "It's fine"

Good

>and now you never hear from them
They broke up 4 years ago

>- Psy
Doesn't count Psy still makes bank and gets tons of attention with each release

Also even though I agree with your overall point, for the sake of this thread

>YOU'RE WAY TOO BEOOOOTIFUL GIRL
>THAT'S WHY IT'LL NEVER WORK
>YOU'LL HAVE ME SUICIDAL, SUICIDAL
>WHEN YOU SAY ITS OOOOVER

SHAWTY'S LIKE A MELODY IN MY HEAD

No wonder they never make music

When I heard it I had hoped it was ironic, I mean look at the music video. It's obviously a critique on these kind of people

Then I'd go to frat parties and I'd see these same people being hyped about this song and I'd cringe

now that I'm looking back I think this song is what made me stop going to frat parties

Any Justin Bieber song that isn't Baby

You are incredibly out of touch

What Do You Mean and Sorry haven't been played on any pop radio stations around me in months already. Baby's the only one that had staying power in the public conscious.

They play very regularly over here.

Plus Love Yourself.

Plus Company.

Plus the one with Skrillex.

What part of the country are you from? Genuinely curious, cuz even during the first part of Bieber's megastardom (09-12ish) I can only remember hearing his singles on the pop stations twice.

Every single hit song, by design

The Mr. Blobby song was a #1 hit in the UK in 1993. Some people remember it, but probably not willingly.

youtube.com/watch?v=h37KQu64RY4

I live in the UK.

Also I believe I read somewhere that Sorry has been more successful than Baby.

Damn, I forgot about Sean Kingston. That was a really good song.

In case anyone wants to relive it:

I'm from the Bay Area, admittedly the stations might be different here, but even Lady Gaga and Adele had more airplay around my stations during the 09-12 years of pop music. I don't listen to pop stations as much but he still seems to be not getting much airplay compared to other modern popstars. Ariana Grande is played way more than him, that's for sure.

I'm from NYC and although I don't listen to the radio often, whenever I'm in the car with someone or at an office setting I tend to hear Bieber at least once

#1 alternative chart hit in 1993, so forgotten it's like it never existed.

Last I heard of that cunt he was glassed while clubbing in Sydney haha

...

...

Everyone still remembers Fuck You.

Underrated hit songs thread?
youtu.be/Rmp6zIr5y4U
This one kind of makes me feel nostalgic for some reason.

I feel bad for him. It seems like he's trying to be taken seriously as a musician (he helped write a song on TPAB), but he just can't escape LMFAO.

Fuck. Forgot the image.

He had a whole album and a couple of mixtapes after this, but NONE of it got radio play.

i remember these

Probably because it samples Float On.

Everyone still remembers Channel Orange (well, millennials at least)

From modest mouse? Because I didn't even know that song until like 2 years back.

NO NO WHY WOULD YOU BRING THIS UP?!

ALL I WANNA DO IS
[BANG BANG BANG BANG]

I just want

bang bang bang

Dickpic remix is better

holy fuck

TONIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT
WE ARE YOOOOOOUUUUUUNNNG
SO LET'S SET THE WORLD ON FIRE
WE CAN GLOW BRIGHTER
THAN THE SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN

A lot of people I know play a lot of the songs in this thread at parties and stuff, cause they grew up with it. It's pretty context sensitive

Cant this be any aong really? Imma say blodie doesnt get air time, and everyone is sick of psy

>tfw that album put the nail in the coffin for Fun.

I swear, Tropic Thunder is the only reason people remember Low

no motherfucker everyone remembers that song cause to this day i still sing that little b a n a n a s part in my head to remember how to spell that word. its not like i couldnt learn to spell it as ive learned with every other word, its just been imprinted in my brain with that fucking line so now i have to do that to spell it.

HOLY FUCK
I never knew that fucking song's name

Tumblr remembers Channel Orange. That doesn't equate to mainstream success (although it seems like he doesn't want that).

YOU DONT KNO-O-OW
YOU DONT KNOW YOURE BEAUTIFUL

Is Channel Orange any good? I heard Brian Wilson wanted Ocean on his last album and scaruffi gave CO a glowing review

It's pretty good. Some of his best work that wasn't sold to other artists for them to sing over.

Pyramids and Pink Matter still get to me.

oh fuck

Summer Girls by LFO

nigga I listen to that song every day

I love that song the same way I love End Of The World As We Know It by R.E.M, just a song about nothing.

Modest Rat?

>Hip Hop, marmalade, spic and span,
>Met you one summer and it all began
>You're the best girl that I ever did see
>The great Larry Bird Jersey 33

>When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet
>Billy Shakespeare wrote a whole bunch of sornnets

>Stayed all summer then went back home
>Macauly Culkin wasn't Home Alone
>Fell deep in love, but now we ain't speaking
>Michael J Fox was Alex P Keaton

>Cherry Pez, cold crush, rock star boogie
>Used to hate school so I had to play hooky

>You love hip hop and rock n roll
>Dad took off when you were 4 years old
>There was a good man named Paul Revere
>I feel much better baby when you're near

>Bugaloo shrimp and pogo sticks
>My mind takes me back there oh so quick

>Like the color purple, macaroni and cheese
>Ruby red slippers and a bunch of trees
>Call you up but whats the use
>I like Kevin Bacon, but I hate Footloose

how can one song be so jam packed with lyrical fire

I found this album in a stack of free records at a store I frequent. It was still shrink wrapped too and you'd best believe I snatched it for just that song.

youtube.com/watch?v=WXxV9g7lsFE anyone remember this lmao
