I really, really hope rock music never reaches the point in reached in the early-mid 2000s ever again.
ITT: All rap songs that rip off entire melodies of other songs are ignored cuz "Xd MUH sampling black culture xD"
>suspiciously similar
wow who would've guessed a song that samples another song sounds similar to it
retard
>I'M NOT ACCEPTING COMMENTS IF IT'S ABOUT NIRVANA OR KILLING JOKE. GO FIND ANOTHER VIDEO TO DEBATE THAT OLD TOPIC.

If you are familiar with the stone roses the intro to this song by an obscure christian rock band that predates them will sound familiar

lcd is a remix band, based on djing, they copied like 70% of their music
just saying, that list is gonna be as long as the album

I think Noel said something like "at least I wait for the artist to die before I rip them off"
Wow they ripped off Oasis twice in one album.
To be fair, the first song I ever wrote had a similar chord progression. It's just a really easy riff for beginners and is catchy.

I feel like everyone has free reign to rip off petty now since he doesnt sue
>I feel like everyone has free reign to rip off petty now since he doesnt sue
Or it's just a common chord sequence used by many artists that doesn't warrant plagorism
Kek
Are you thinking of Good Morning, Captain?
St vincint is a serial plagerist

she stole the hook melody from this fleetwood mac song
nosferatu man?
>St vincint is a serial plagerist
>she stole the hook melody from this fleetwood mac song
Is it just a I-IV chord sequence? There is only a finite amount of hooks that could be used.
man, if you dig deep enough everyone is ripping off everyone the betales ripped off chuck berry, radiohead ripped off the Beatles, coldplay ripped off radiohead.
Someone posted greenday ripping off oasis multiple times, and it was on an album that was the peak of their popularity.
If your going to rip someone off you just got to get away with it
>coldplay ripped off radiohead
[citation needed]
litttrly in the thread you punk
Lift was never even released. Are you retarded?
Try again.
kys
now you are just trying use any excuse, dont know why, did you wander here from reddit, some plebe master that actually likes coldplay.
Yuck
Not really. Coldplay would have less opportunity because it's likely they'd never heard the song before.
Also, what is the similarity? Not hearing it.
The entirety of rap is based on ripping off other musicians.
california knows how to party was "sampled" from a fucking joe cocker song
1) Both songs are in different keys.
2) The Radiohead song is a I-VII-VIIb-V progression while the Coldplay song is I-V-IV progression. Completely different.
The only similarity is that the tempo is similar, the guitar chords are strummed in a similar rhythm in a clean tone and the vocals begin on the 5th of their root note. But while the melody of the Radiohead song stays on that 5th, the Coldplay melody soon drifts away as the progression continues.
That's not plagorism or a "rip-off". Especially knowing, as mentioned before, it's unlikely that Coldplay even heard Lift before.
Is collage art "ripping off" other artists?
no the melody at 1:38 in strange mercy and the main one in seven wonders, same exact six notes in same exact rhythm, they are very unique and instantly recognizable
they were sampled in this one
Still not plagiarism
nice b8
I've listened to all of those songs countless times but never found out they sounded so similar. The more you know.
Holy shit it's just E and G what are the odds!
Stop shilling
are you really defending coldplay this hard? really?
lmao
youtube.com

there's no direct lift of a riff or melody, but Oasis clearly ripped off the Beatles here
Holy shit, I thought Nirvana were the ones who ripped off Killing Joke.
Tom didnt sue because that song is a complete rippoff of an instrumental track from Teenage Fanclub (its on the album Thirteen, cant remember the name)
There was this weird period during the 90s when aging rockers ripped off indie bands all the time
They even had to credit the co writers of the air that I breathe when they released creep. They get royalties off Radiohead's song because it's so similar.
>The Beach Boys - All I Wanna Do

>Animal Collective - Guys Eyes

And before the internet it was quite common for murrican artists to rip-off lesser known brits, and vice versa. Brits just sue less
Bon Jovi got away with "keep the faith" after all
That's nice but the Tom Petty song was recorded before the Teenage Fanclub song was even released.
And before the internet it was quite common for people to fact-check before saying something stupid.

It's just a I-V you dummy.
All of me wants all of you from 2:12

i'm just waiting to somebody that say that coldplay just ripped-off too of somebody else, xd
and the vocal rhythms in the verses of both undone and i bleed
>vocal rhythms
Not relevant.
the start of in my place of coldplay is a repeat of the start of dreams burn down of ride
the end of the video shows the original source, is a composition of bach
i fucking hate coldplay
