>Video games
>Art

Not even gonna bother m8.

video games are objectively art though even if you don't like them

Let's toss out film while we're at it. Trad, music, and literature are the trifecta.

>implying I'm really going to download that image and edit it for no fucking reason
Now fuck off and leave me to my video games that I play for no reason

how is film not art?

oh because it's not old and made mostly by white people?

You art purists are always racist

They have no semantic language of their own though.

Any and all aesthetic communication found within them is done through forms that are already their own established form of art.

your mom's

>The Last of Us is one of the greatest achievements in art
This chart is trash

except gameplay which is unique to videogames

Video games are art, but you can really see how immature the medium is when you put it next to art/film/lit.

Is there a better resolution version for this image?

well obviously, the medium is much newer than music, film, lit, etc.

Art doesn't exist

Gameplay is a means of interaction, how does that relate to art?.

You could say it works as a form of agency but that's not unique to video games at all.

video games combine all mediums of art

ergo video games are the highest form of art

>videogames
>art
>the LSD game as biggest achievement

this shit is so much I'm fucking dizzy right now, at least good old "V." and Silent HIll 2 are there

>heavy rain
>life is strange
please end your life

Also, somebody tell me what is that game with the all white person's back turned to us on the cover

>No Super mario bros NES
>No Super mario 64

Goes to show this was made by idiots. These games set the standards of how 2d/3d game movement should feel.

probably tylo be chillin

everyone focusing on vidya but too scared to post music

there is but it's too big to post or link on imgur

...

While some pretentious wanker made this chart, us Sup Forumstants deny contributing to this cuck's wannkery by calling out his bullshit.
Sometimes I really love you, Sup Forums

While we're at it, Liquid Swords as well

takes one to beat one
Only the dilettante pretentiousness of Sup Forums can outwit this dilettante pretentiousness

Video games fucking does not belong there.

>pop music

>noise rap album no one knows
>indie rock album no one knows
>not technically pop music
>not popular enough to be considered pop music under autism classifications that think everything popular must be called "pop" because "pop" is le bad genre and popular music is le bad music, and the only good music is the music no one on the universe knows
This feat of autism deserves a standing ovation

if you have a link, I'd appreciate

"one of the most demented dance-pop anthems of all times... a masterpiece"

>Greatest literature
>The Quran

I'm being trolled

why is it that whenever people try to include traditional art in charts like this they always have the ultimate babby's first fucking taste

>American flag

if it's list of the greatest achievements in recorded music history then modern popular music would encompass at least half of it, just as modern literature has a presence in its own list

neither deerhunter nor dalek would deserve spots, the more applicable of their respective musical styles would be doolittle/funeral (for indie) or 36 chambers

from what i've heard the style in arabic is incredible but very hard to translate

you're a fucking idiot if you think he's trying to talk down those albums by calling them pop. unless you can prove to me somehow that either of those albums are wholly avant-garde, classical, or traditional folk recordings that don't follow or resemble the structure of modern popular music then you can't call them not pop

>only avant-garde, classical and trad folk is free from not being pop
>what is popular folk music
>what is pop music influenced by folk
>what is popular avant-garde jazz
>what am I even doing here

You know what you do, you post this shit as part of your chart of interests in r9k or soc or wherever the fuck the thread comes up and let others tell you how much of a tryhard you are

Blade Runner should be in movies and Until Dawn should be in games desu

three weeks work finally done lads

rate comment subscribe upvote

I don't think you understand what popular music is
you're new as fuck if you think calling something pop isn't talking something down

>great pyramids
>mona lisa
>art

christ fucking plebs, it's not an achievement if its popular

>it's not an achievement if its popular

>video games
>smash bros
truly a great epochal achievement

where is pulp fiction

where is super mario 64

i am not ok with this chart

SM64 aged like shit
good art is good art no matter how old it is
your nostalgia-tinted goggles are showing

thats not the american flag though... lol

its a piece of it

I thought this was bait until I saw Gorillaz. Then I knew it was.

No dance?

Your opinion is trash.

Because clearly when you play a guitar, a piano, a violin you aren't interacting with them, you stupid nigger
This, you cuck
Except not highest. There is not best form of art. Maybe you could say life is the form of art, in that very sense too

How are video games not art?

Some video games may not be - but many RPGs tell compelling stories, basically amounting to an interactive film.

>How are video games not art?
Were they intended as art? Or were they meant as entertainment?

Again, many RPGs tell compelling, and yes, can b meant as art.

Besides, even if something isn't meant as art doesn't mean it can't be such

Videogames are art in the same way that everything is art now.
They're still objectively inferior to every other artistic medium though.
Yeah.

also missing the genesis sonic games which were GOAT

sonic 1 for innovation, sonic 3 and knuckles for overall best game. sonic 3 and knuckles is absolute perfection.

why can't it be both? music and film are both.

I get some kind of vague embarrassment seeing video games here.

>many RPGs tell compelling
So are James Paterson novels if you know what I mean
>can b meant as art.
That's not what I asked, is it? What was it meant to be?
>even if something isn't meant as art doesn't mean it can't be such
Wrong.
>why can't it be both?
Did the artist intend it?

composers and then highly influential artists like the beatles, mbv, miles davis, can/faust the list could go on.

Trash the entire thing and start over. The majority of the works of literature on your list aren't even the best of the listed authors' works. If you really care that much you should read about Bloom's Western Canon and expand from there.

too much mu/core

cosigned.

>greatest achievements in vidya
>no dwarf fortress

it's there ya dingus

right, sorry, haven't seen that cover for it before.

>greatest achievements in vidya
>fl0w
>flower

fucking why

lmao at the greatest films basically just being the criterion collection

>video games
>art

im going to crop out the top and put in "essential posuerart" and no one can stop me

Can I get this pic bigger pls senpai

>posuer

GAME MECHANICS CAN CONVEY MEANING YOU FUCKING MORON
and Yes I'm mad

I swear people will still be pulling the "it's a new medium" excuse 50 years from now

Okay, grandpa. That's enough now.

>Also, somebody tell me what is that game with the all white person's back turned to us on the cover
Bumping this request, I have no idea what it is.

so happy you put grim fandango in there, such a fantastic game

>still no talk of music

oh yeah this is a music board lmao.

i definitely think spiderland belongs in there, and in terms of importance I'd say velvet underground and nico and revolver

>greatest achievements
>vidya
>Life is strange
>heavy rain
>mfw

>The Stanley Parable
I didn't realize people liked it THAT much

For literature I think you're set. Didn't see Watership Down or Society of the Spectacle, but they might be in there idk.

if you have silent hill 2 and not 3, you haven't played 3. Put it on there.
> Heavy Rain
man I wish that story wasn't terribly handled and written. It had so much goikg for it in the first half.

Video games can be art, but it's hard to market a game like an experience. Most games are hard to look into and find love and expression the creator put into them because they have to be entertaining. I agree they are inherently art, but rarely are they "mise en scene" or whatever.

except it is

Might as well throw things out for albums too. Great lists as far as I'm concerned, but I'm no aficionado on all those fields so idk. I think music is the most subjective field so idk how this'll go.

Comus - First Utterance
Elliot Smith - Either / Or, self titled
Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks
Beach Boys - Smile Sessions
Radiohead yeah you already know these
David Bowie - the rise and fall of Ziggy stardust and the spiders from Mars, Heroes
Townes Van Zandt - self titled
Faust - Faust IV
Outkast - Aquemini
The Notorious BIG - Ready to Die
The Beatles - legitimately anything you can think of
Led Zeppelin II
DJ Shadow - Endtroducing
Pink Floyd - Meddle, DSOTM, Saucerful, Piper

I'm a pleb when it comes to classical
Rachmaninov - piano concertos
Chopin - Nocturns
Debussy - Claire De Lune, Féte
Erik Satie - ...in the shape of a pear, Gymnopedies
Stravinsky - Rite of Spring

idk how other people feel but wow that seems not great

the music part I mean

replace Blood on the Tracks with H61 or BoB and i'd agree
