trips!

Musical ideas shouldn't be race exclusive.

What a shallow and meaningless accusation

The history of Western music is the history of cultural appropriation.

The sooner you learn that and stop memeing it, the sooner you stop posting.

I borrowed a bunch of Husker Du records from my mate Jerome once, and I forgot to give them back

This. Everyone knows Talking Heads prefected jazz/funk more than any nigg- er, I mean PoC could ever do. This is fact, stop discussing it.

>it's a "we steal instruments from white people" episode

>le cultural appropriation war

*logs into tumblr*

mild kek

>it's a "I steal organizational methods from South Pacific gamelan music" episode

Sounds cool though

Is the crux of this argument that the album is funky? Because if so that's sad as fuck.

What is "post-1950s rock music?"

>It's a "we steal music from The Stooges and Neuromancer" episode.

Wait hold on a second... Neuromancer was made in 84'. What is going on here?

>It's a this meme is poorly suited to this brand of shortsighed trolling episode

>It's a I recognized similarities and influences of another culture in a song, therefore the music has been stolen episode

>It's a I'm nowhere near as perceptive or intelligent as I think I am episode

id take fela kuti over talking heads anyday but influence and borrowing are inevitable in music. funk came from blues, garage and psych rock but so did metal. Now those genres have evolved into a million things that can hardly be traced back to blues rock

sample

>it's a "we don't take advantage of other people technology and culture" episode

And Bladerunner was from 82', but Dick's story was from 68'. Interesting.

>fela kuti

Literally who? Fuck off with your bullshit references and stop acting contrarian for the sake of it.

>Thinking Fela Kuti is a super-obscure contrarian reference
I think the "Talking Heads ripped off Fela" meme is bollocks, but come on

>felt kuti
>literally who

I'm in the Talking Heads camp here, but you might actually be completely retarded and uneducated in music.

god why is tv so fucking shit
every time I see a ridiculously awful post, I find out whatever meme they're using to be insufferable comes from tv

>I'm super educated in nigerian music

You're the meme here, hipster retards.

Fela Kuti is really entry level African music

Look at how many posts there are using his name directly on the archive

The only people this is obscure to on Sup Forums are new, unlearned plebs like you

>Oh wow, everyone here mindlessly spouts the same shitty names over and over so it must be good

Sup Forums, ladies and gentlemen.

>Oh wow, mocking a widely known and influential artist is the best way to assert my musical superiority

Sup Forums, ladies and gentleman.

>I'll just copy his previous post, that'll show him.

On the one hand it explains your unability to have any personal opinion, but on the other hand it is still making you look like an idiot.

Your first post was "literally who?" We have shown Fela Kuti is a widely known and well-respected musician. Now can you kindly eat crow or sod off?

>Oh wow, all I want in life's a little bit of love to take the pain away

Ladies and gentlemen, we are floating in space

The word is inability you stupid fuck. And I was copying the format of your post to show how absolutely banal and stupid it was
