What will they have instead

they'll have iJacks

>Apple comes out with yet another way to force their users to buy exclusively overpriced proprietary accessories
I wouldn't even be surprised.

thunderbolt i think, pretty fucking shitty

Son of a bitch

"Innovation"

>iphone

Or USB-C
Also Moto Z did it first

fucking motorola a shit
wish they never got bought by lenovo

>DEAL WITH IT: It doesn't matter that Apple is killing the headphone jack

>Headphone Jacks Are the New Floppy Drives

Discuss.

headphone jacks have been around longer than floppy discs and are far more useful

I really doubt headphones jacks will go away. there is very little reason to get rid of them and very few things that would make them an obsolete technology.
Floppy drives disappeared because hard drives could store enough datas to make them a bit unnecessary and because CDs made them the unpractical data storage medium.
Unless the alternative has something that will make jacks seem really bad in comparison (which is hard to imagine because there is nothing that jacks are actually bad at) they will probably sty there, no matter how much a company tries to push them out of customers' habits because they want to sell their alternative instead

>2016
>having an iphone

>buying new iphones

they know how to make da $$$

This.

someone brought up cordless headphones. I don't think they will replace the headphone jack. But since apple is a big company and have people to do what they say and buy their products, thunderbolt & cordless headphones may be the way of the future for the iPhone user (that wants the new iPhone).

is this not just a way for them to get people to buy their shitty dre's

so what are they gonna with apple earpods?
just discontinue them>

or make wireless ones (wireless earpods in general are shitty so they might not do that if they want to make the right choice).

who actually looks at these titles and go "yeah this sounds right"

matter of fact:

kek. beats.

iPhonefag here highly considering switching to Samsung, and this is making me want to switch more if it's true.

just one question, can a samsung user answer it? Will I be able to get my itunes library onto samsung? I store all of my music in itunes, and I have a mac.

This was proven false a while ago. Chill.

>so said everyone when they announced their desk computers would not have built-in CD players anymore
They believe they can force any "innovation" onto the market, they would absolutely go for it.

It will be the bad news for mobile/travelling business owners who rely on the "Square" credit card payment system that requires the jack.

This

Apple cult members

Sad, I wanted it to be real because I want to see how stupid Apple supporters really are.

you don't store your music with itunes, that's not possible. your music is stored on your computer and you can copy that over with ease without having to use any program

but itunes is shit and there is way better lightweight software out there to organize and play music.

it's not the jacks themselves, it's wired headphones that are (supposedly) becoming obsolete

>2016
>still haven't figured out apple leads the industry in creating overpriced products with guaranteed inbuilt obselence

If you bought your shit on itunes its gonna be a bitch. If you have your own music copies on your computer and just access your shit through itunes youll be fine - just go to the folder on your computer where all your music is and drag and drop the folder into your samsung phone when its plugged into the computer.

BETTER OPTION: download the google music manager program for your computer (I would assume theres a mac version of it like there is for windows) and you can set it up to parse your folder with all of your music and itll match what it can online with google play music and upload the rest. Boom - you have access to all of your shit from the cloud without any extra work and you can download whatever you want for offline use through the google play music app.

I think he's talking about syncing music to a mobile device. Which is the only thing iTunes is competent at. Never got any foobar extensions to work.

look at when they "subtly" released new charges for the last two generations. Genius marketing. Simple inconvenience solved by 15 dollars that most people won't question. Probably made millions

>iphones
I found your problem

only reason I still use an iphone is because of how small it is.
guess I'll just stock up cheap 5s and maybe a 6 when it drops prices
tho it pisses me off every update makes my phone slower.

so what the cunting fuck am I supposed to use to listen to music on my fucking headphones, apple, you stupid cunts?

whoever wrote these headlines/articles are fucking uber faggots who deserve to be hung from a fucking tree.

syncing is a glorified copy and paste

they're going to sell some shitty thunderbolt to 3.5mm jack for 30 bucks and make a fortune off retards

Why the fuck would you even sync when you can literally just drag and drop files on any other goddamn phone
Itunes is for literal idiots who don't understand how to get music digitally from anywhere else.

Does Samsung sound as good as iphones do? I noticed on a friend's S5 that the sound wasn't as clear and it sounded modified from the original files. Considering I downloaded that album for her from the same source I got mine on my computer, it should've sounded the same but it sounds different through Sound Player, less low end sound.

It wouldn't be much of a problem if they included converters with the phone. But we all know they fucking won't.

>current year
>haven't got an ipod classic

iPod 5S had the best sound quality so there's no reason to get anything else.

>tfw bought an htc 10
>tfw great audio quality
>tfw put loads and loads of weeb psp and ds games and visual novels on there

feels good

What are the best alternative smartphones to use?

I use my phone primarily for music listening, when the time comes to upgrade, I kind of want to move away from Apple. Currently have an iPhone 6.

The fucking thing I hate about my Galaxy Note 5 is that there's an audio nanny that can't be disabled. When you have music playing at max volume, it will randomly nuke the volume when you're doing something to where it's almost muted, then it'll give you a warning about damaging your hearing that you can't disable. Nevermind the fact that you could be listening to your playlist through your car or home stereo system. It's so fucking frustrating

ipod classic. 160gb for like $350 on ebay

...

I was trying to think of the name of the phone I wanted and this is it. Head Fi jacks off about this and it ,overall, is a great phone.

>2016
>still using an iPhone

Holy fuck

No way, that cant be fucking real can it? Lmaoing @ apple fags

Nah, just buy a Sansa Clip for $100 and then buy a micro sd with 200 GB memory for $80. Then rockbox it

That'll save you almost $200 and give you a better player.

isn't the problem that the headphone jack is currently the widest thing they have to put on the phone, which limits how thin they can make it?

And just when you thought you had seen everything

>$99 for a pencil

Buying a Motorola over the Nexus 6P. Lmfao. Dumb faggot.

so after 10 years we're back to this?

thanks apple.

If Apple is really fucking stupid enough to kill the headphone jack all in the name of "thinness" I'm sorry but eat a fucking dick when your biggest selling point is "convenience" it's convenient for the masses to buy Apple Bluetooth headphones and inconvenient for everyone fucking else. Fucking twats, if they pull this shit next time I get a phone it's gonna be Android.

>listening to music on a phone

heh

OP, this is really more of a topic, although this rumor has been covered to death. There are a few new updates implying that the iPhone 7 actually WILL have 3.5mm jack, and in fact very little will change in terms of hardware. These are all just rumors, though. We'll have to wait and see.
Nothing. Just Bluetooth connected earbuds/headphones from now on, however some companies will start making Lightning earphones but that means you won't be able to charge your phone and listen to music simultaneously.
Lenovo REALLY fucked up with the Moto Z. It's ugly as sin.
It actually does matter if Apple kills the 3.5mm jack because that means everyone will start doing it and it will likely spell the end of 3.5mm headphone jacks for good, which is a shame because, honestly, it's a near-perfect technology. That's kind of why they've been around for nearly three decades now. They're capable of supplying adequate amounts of power to an external speaker and do not compromise on sound quality at all. It's very simple -- entirely analogue. Bluetooth makes things complicated for no real reason. Moving wireless earbuds from your phone to your computer is a real bitch, especially compared to literally just unplugging it from one source and plugging it into another. Audiophiles tend to say Bluetooth degrades audio quality, but I don't really know much about that.

Either way, I like not having headphones that I have to recharge along with the rest of my devices. I like the idea of having a set of headphones or earbuds that will definitely last as long as my phone will. I like the simplicity. Plug in, unplug, done. Easy. In my opinion, Bluetooth earbuds add one major convenience while subtracting a bunch of other minor ones. Bluetooth earbuds aren't shit or anything, it's just that I don't think the technology is really ready to make that huge committed leap yet.

Removing the 3.5mm jack has been a rumor for years and I think they've tested it but I'm sure focus group research and shit has revealed to them that it's a fucking horrible idea, I imagine if they did it the outrage would actually be big enough to make them switch it back (like the buttonless Shuffle)

>2016
>caring about what phone a person uses
just admit that both platforms have their benefits and problems like an adult would.
I would really, really strongly advise against buying a Samsung phone if you're moving to Android but if your mind is set on it...have it your way, I guess.
Anyway, there are very few ways to move the entire iTunes library over to Android that aren't tedious &or time-consuming. You could always just copy all the files you have in iTunes and move them to Google Play Music, or just straight onto the phone's local file manager, but that's about it.

>2016
>having a phone being used to track your every movement

iPod classic rules

this, so hard.

Get the new One+ 3. Best value for your money out there rn.

This is the correct answer, can hold loads of music and I've had mine for about 8-10 years and it still works fine, with the exception of the battery being fucked. Upwards of 5,000+ songs on there and it's not even half full yet. The discontinuation of the iPod classic sucked so fucking much.

Apple is cancer

Apple Jacks

hue

kek

Samsung Galaxy S5, not iPhone 5s

are you implying that the iphone 6s has worse sound than the iphone 5s

absolutely this.

>current year
>carrying around a pocket botnet
Use a dumbphone faggots

as if phones need to be thinner than a fucking headphone jack jesus crhist.

>buttmad applefag detected.
just admit that the platform you use fucking sucks

actually I prefer stock Android over iOS, but I just don't think either OS is objectively better or worse than its alternative. I just think they're designed for different people, and that people should use the one that fits them better.

But here's the thing; it doesn't matter that much to me because it's a fucking phone. People take this shit too seriously. You don't have to pick a side and fight for it.

no kill yourself

welcome to the cool kids gang

except Apple attempts to reject open non proprietary standards at every corner in order to gain more monopoly over the market. This isn't just silly trivialities. It's actually just being against a massive corporation attempting to force their shitty proprietary standards on everyone.

this

Mediamonkey actually works pretty well for adding music to iPhones. I don't like mediamonkey for anything else though, it's like a slightly updated winamp...

Reminds me of a pic I took a year ago

>using your phone as your main device for music
