RAM is better than all pre-Rubber Soul albums. It would probably rank among my top 3 Beatles albums, if it were a Beatles album as well. Thinking that RAM is superior to all Beatles albums wouldn't be a particularly crazy gap.
The rest of McCartneys solo work doesn't stack up though, but it isn't /that/ unreasonable IMO.
