What's his best song?
What's his best song?
Sons of the Silent Age
Ashes To Ashes
station to station
Fuck everytime i listen to it i have to sing along
moonage daydream
Life on Mars, Five Years, or Bewlay Brothers
'Heroes' or blackout
fact.
this
Also shout out to Modern Love even though nobody else likes it
yus
five years is a great albumstarter
Oh yeah
I like it and my Sup Forumstant friend likes it too
Big Brother, i'm literally obsessed with it
Life On Mars was hammered into my head by my past music teacher in school, he composed me and the jazz band through a swingy groovy version and I've never been able to hear it the same since without the smooth bass and drum lines he put over it, damn it was good
So it's my favourite for that reason :)
Stay
Blackout
Secret Life of Arabia
Station To Station
Joe The Lion
TVC-15
Ashes to Ashes or Life On Mars?
one of the ones from Low or Heroes where he isn't singing
The man who sold the world
This is easily the correct answer. Bowie's run from Space Oddity to Scary Monsters is one of the best in the history of popular music, with countless masterpieces, but this is as good as it ever got. There aren't many better songs in general, let alone by Bowie.
Five Years
Heroes.
Golden Years
Blackstar
Station to Station
The Man Who Sold the World
Changes
Golden Years
The Width of a Circle
Blackstar
Young Americans
Five Years
Heroes
Suffragette City
Aladdin Sane
Sound and Vision
Life on Mars?
The Secret Life of Arabia
TVC15
Almost forgot Sweet Thing/Candidate/reprise
Starman
Warsawa
>0 mention of Space Oddity
Objectively speaking, Life on Mars
Too bad it was ruined by American Horror Story fans
Blackout. Only answer.
>Those drums
>making out with bowie in the rain after he fucking chases you
>getting LIT beyond comprehension
"Heroes"
Same here. Fuckin love that song.
Let's dance (club remix)
station to station and ashes to ashes are my favs of his
A tie between Ashes to Ashes and Modern Love
Early 80s Bowie is best Bowie.
China Girl
Sound and vision. S2S is his best album though, by a large margin
they dont want to like popular music just because its popular, the truth is that space oddity its one of his best, if not his best
Five Years, Sound and Vision, Heroes
Quicksand
Life on Mars is objectively his best song
this
Sound and Vision is almost a perfect song
Gonna say now, he may have better songs, but All the Madmen, Width of a Circle and The Supermen are underrated as fuck.
Wild is the Wind is impressive just because it showcases Bowie's god-tier vocal control and the concept of The Thin White Duke well. It's this amazing, incredibly passionate love song, that thanks to Bowie's vocal control he makes it feel completely hollow.
Ashes to Ashes is fucking amazing because of the sheer number of hooks buried into it.
Sound and Vision or Moonage Daydream might be mine.
Station to Station takes its time, but the heights it reaches are hard to surpass.
Depends on who you ask.
Pleb: Space Oddity
Contrarian: The Laughing Gnome
Patrician: African Night Flight
idk about his best but this is definitely one of my favourites
Sound And Vision.
1979 version Space Oddity is fantastic.
Always Crashing in the Same Car
The Jean Genie. I don't know why. I'm just so drawn to the chugging guitar riff. Everytime I listen to it I imagine Bowie in the studio with a cigarette in his mouth playing the riff, lol.
FAME
The passion and sincerity in his voice in Heroes and Ashes to Ashes are bone shaking. It'd be down to those two for me.
Fucking this. Such a great song.

I also really like It's No Game though. Nowhere near his best, I just really like it and never hear anybody discuss it.

A New Career in a New Town always makes me tear up. Especially after hearing it sampled in I Can't Give Everything Away.
How the fuck did David Bowie put out something as perfect as Blackstar so many years into his career? Only explanation is he saved certain songs over the last couple of decades until he had a reason for them to sell. Everything else post Let's Dance is so mediocre compared to Blackstar
check yourself
His more recent stuff before Blackstar is pretty good, it shows a change in style and increase in creativity after his Black Tie White Noise phase.
You really need to give Heathen a listen.
This is horribly inaccurate
Kill V. Maim
Neukoln, Art Decade or Ashes to ashes
Is David the greatest pop songwriter ever?
Him and The Residents
Add Brian Wilson and The Smiths and you got a great top 4
Five Years, always gives me the goosebumps.
My melanin-enriched brothers
Subterraneans
what song gives you the most feels?
Solid fuckin post.
The Man Who Sold A World, no doubt.
sunday
what the fuck is he doing in this picture?
speed of life i'm guessing
Black Country Rock
African Night Flight
A New Career In a New Town
Be My Wife
Breaking Glass
Beauty and the Beast
Lady Grinning Soul
Suffragette City
Young Americans hasn't been mentioned yet?
1. Heros
2. Width of a Circle
3. Big Brother
4. Life on Mars
5. Ziggy stardust
With diamond dogs being his best album
Preparing for assimilation of the human race.
You faggots have zero grasp on reality. It's Modern love, pure and simple. It's not hard to understand.
> ctrl+f
> 'D.J'
>No results
fuck off. best bowie song with best guitar work
My favourite is probably Bewlay Brothers.
Absolutely not, not even interesting.
Not interesting enough.
This: or this: youtube.com
ONCE
Running Gun Blues
>nobody ever mentions Cygnet Committee in these threads
Why does this keep happening? Granted it's not necessarily his best, but it's surely a very obvious contender.
Also Sweet Thing / Candidate / Reprise should really get more mentions. Have people just not heard Diamond Dogs?
Cygnet Committee drives on way too long. I know it's supposed to be that way but it just isn't enough when compared to something of equal length like Station to Station, Blackstar or Width of a Circle which is why no one ever mentions it.
I personally like it though and it is definitely underrated, but that's also partly because no one listens to Space Oddity as a full album.
Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)
The Secret Life Of Arabia
Modern Love
Queen Bitch
Weeping Wall
Starman
>Not a single mention of Cracked Actor
Sound & Vision t b h
though Heroes is his greatest album, every single song in the first side is an absolute blast and the second side is moody and dreamy as hell
Sound and Vision
IN THE VILLA OF ORMEN
I listen to space oddity as a full album
>no Oh You Pretty things
SOMETIMES YOU GET SO LONELY
SOMETIMES YOU GET NOWHERE
Laughing gnome
Up the hill backwards desu
Life on Mars
