I used to have a pretty generic taste for rock music, but around two years ago I somehow stumbled upon Iron Butterfly's album "Heavy" and fell in love with psychedelic rock. Prior to that album my only other experience with psychedelic was Jimi Hendrix. Last.fm's "similar artests" is a great way to find music, long before making an account I would look up bands like Hawkwind and Iron Butterfly and listened to music that was similar. I try to find more non 60's psychedelic music, but something about 60's psychedelic really speaks to me.

it feels almost like last.fm is actively trying to discourage their userbase (i.e. music listeners looking to discover new jams), not only by retarding the algorithms (which worked fine before the "update"), but by making the UI actively clunky and impractical.
