It's a fairly historic place but there's very little of note in recent times. Overall it's pretty rough but it's basically being turned into an annexe of edinburgh. Every inch of land is being bought up to build housing estates for people that work in Edinburgh but can't afford to live there.
There is one venue, the alhambra that occasionally has good shows, but that's it.
