Why is Dopesmoker such a meme around here when THIS exists?

Why is Dopesmoker such a meme around here when THIS exists?

I challenge you to listen to it in its entirety.

I'm not making this up, the whole thing is good too

>Drop out of life with bong in hand, follow the smoke to the Riff Filled Land.

I bought this on vinyl from a fucking Southern Lord merch table at Emissions From the Monolith, a month before its official release.

Just, like, consider that before you fuck with me...

sorry, THIS

Most of their album arts have tits on them

because Dopesmoker is an amazing album and most Acid Mothers Temple is unlistenable

UFO stands for "Ultimate Freak Out" or maybe "Underground Freak Out", it describes a characteristic ... thing that they do.

After the brief intro, you will see what I mean

I used to find this sort of music really scary and I didn't understand how it was associated with drugs, sounds like it would be so frightening on drugs

Then eventually I got it. No drugs required. Here's one of their covers of the legendary MASTER BUILDER

I ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE

dopesmoker isnt a meme and it isnt just praised here dipshit

I'm afraid it's you who are the dipshit.

First of all I already established that I know Dopesmoker isn't just a meme Secondly, it IS a meme here. I think most places where people know about Dopesmoker, it is NOT a meme, but simply an album.

You couldn't have fucked up your interpretation of my position more thoroughly

It's not a meme because it's praised, it's a meme because people post it and say
>DUDE WEED LMAO
or whatever. my sweet summer child.

One of the most well-reputed works, but unfortunately I haven't heard it in years because it's not on Spotify

this was from a period where they were coming out with 3-4 albums every fucking year, shit was insane

Just because its good doesn't mean that it can't also be a meme.

At some point they abruptly dropped the "& The Melting Paraiso UFO" in favor of being called Acid Mothers Temple and the Cosmic Inferno. Then it seemed like they were just using the Cosmic Inferno suffix for their more straightforward, riff oriented works. Then they sort of admitted it was all just a mindfuck anyway. There's also Acid Mothers Guru Guru, Acid Mothers Guru Pond, Acid Mothers Temple and the Space Paranoid, Acid Mothers Gong, Acid Mothers Temple Mode HHH, Acid Mothers Temple SWR....

Anyway here is some pure fucking magic from the Cosmic Inferno, I guess their tribute to Michael Jackson????

I genuinely think that Acid Mother's Temple is a parody band...Not saying that's a bad thing though.

This guy made a nice guide to them on RYM, I appreciate that he's unpretentious and doesn't feel the need to defend each of their albums even though he clearly is a dedicated fan of them.

>On their Spring 2009 US Tour, Acid Mothers Temple's Atsushi Tsuyama started the show by reapeatedly asking the audience "Are We Experimental?" This question has led me to ponder what exactly "experimental" music is in the 21st century. More than 80 years since the earliest electric instruments were introduced, and 50 since electronic instruments first hit the scene, it seems that the experiments have already been done. I have never really considered Acid Mothers Temple to be "experimental." While they break virtually every rule of music with their often cacophonous noise (anchored by moments of beauty), it seems that AMT are simply doing what they do.

>On this disc, AMT ask that same question. The opening three tracks contain hints of 20th Century Minimalist Works, like Terry Riley's In C and Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians, but if these works were played under blistering guitar lines. After these tracks the disc turns to a fairly standard guitar noise freak out for the middle section. One surprise for me was the fairly straight jazz chording that opens, Goodbye Big Asshole Emmanuelle, and the fact that the closer and title track is the least experimental, a basic acoustic song written and sung by Tsuyama.

Heh, well obviously they love parodying classic rock with their song and album titles

I know what you are saying though, they are similar to Monster Magnet in that they sort of perceive a super exaggerated, ridiculous version of the music they are imitating, and of course it doesn't prevent it from being good as well. I feel you my nigga

What is OP babbling about?

It's a very mediocre album.

Nah, just skip disc 3 and it's 10/10

hi gus

i would "experiment" with each and every one of those ladies

Hey no shame in that. My brother did the same (was big into doom records around 2005-2009) ... Imho i like the original cover art more (and its valuable as fuck now). My limited edition green holo vinyl (from when it was reissued with new al roper art, ) also has gained value to about 70 bucks

my fantasy is that Cotton Casino is actually the naked lady on all the albums
