Seeing him tonight, def excited to see him do pet sounds.
Saw him 2 weeks ago, great show. The band was killer.
>ywn live in the alternate timeline where they released the complete version of smile
>Ywn live in the timeline where Brian was able to make masterpiece after masterpiece
Anyone know where I can get this album?
who /CHICAGO/ here?
seeing him tonight. is it bad I'm not going for the other acts? i could care less. i dont want to get there at 1pm and walk around for 6 hours by myself
Here's a collection of Brian Wilson bootlegs I found in the archive - most of them are sketchy demos and poorly recorded, but there's some serious heartbreak and wonder to be found on here
he's using autotune now isn't he?
sometimes you gotta let go
This
>tfw Good Vibrations was allegedly the only fully-realized song from Smile and it's one of the best songs of all time
Imagine what could've been
Not what I heard. Sounded raw to me.
eh I'd say Cabin Essence is basically 100% done
but
>you will never hear the rumored 10-minute version of Heroes and Villains that incorporated all of the sections on the box set into one behemoth pop song
>you will never truly understand what Brian meant when he said "the original Smile would have been scary"
>you will never smoke hashish in Brian's tent while he works out the chords for Wonderful in his sandbox
i want to fucking kill myself lads
Wonderful and Wind Chimes were finished as well. Beyond that it's just fragments. :(
Barnyard is the greatest thing I've ever heard, I'm fucking obsessed with it, listened to it well over 100 times
Man I agree. Way too short.
Our Prayer is hardly a song but that's basically done too I'd think
Its not one song but the flow from Wonderful-Look-Child-Surf's Up feels very complete and is one of the most cohesive run of of songs I've ever come across on a pop song (also straight up some of the best song writing, guy was in a totally different universe)
vegetables could have been released as is
why is it so good
>yfw the Child reprise at the end of Surf's Up
Fucking this
Im obsessed with Barnyard into My Only Sunshine into Cabin Essence at the moment, I just can't get passed how great it is
>that decrescendo from My only sunshine that fades off into the beginning of cabin essence
GOAT
Agree with these
>Done
Good Vib
Prayer
Cabin Essense
Wind Chimes
Wonderful
>nearly done
surfs up
elements fire
Know the difference
cabin essence in general
>the whole "who ran the iron horse" section
Goosebumps thinking about it.
gets me every time. i really wish they kept the removed line that made reference to Brian's father and brought his music full circle.
>A childrens song, can you listen as they play?
>Their song is love and the children know the way
>The father's done, and the children carry on...
If you listen to the Smile 2011 version of Surfs Up, there's still repeat on the final segment leaving room for that last line.
the first time i hear that part it scared me, I couldnt make out the lyrics and it just sounded like haunting Ooh OOh OOhhs with mumbling and fuzzy bass.
Any one else like the 1967 Surfs Up version? I love the minor key he plays it in, really changes the feel of the song, more despair
no no holy shit imagine THIS
Right after the end of the last verse and before the child reprise
There is a 2 second silence, then the recording of Murray Wilson yelling at Brian "I'm a genius too, Brian" then BAM the reprise, with the old lyric
that would have been fucking legendary
I love this version, you get to appreciate just the voice and chords. It's amazing how young he sounds in this, like a teenager.
And that progression/falsetto at "collumnated ruins..." hrrnnnnnnn it's like the perfect blend of heartbreak and fear.
Oh god don't do this to me :(
or maybe "brian, forget who you are"
Anyone else see these unrecorded lyrics for Cabinessence?
Reconnected telephone direct / Dialing / Different color cords to your / Extension / Don’t forget to mention / This is a recording
Even though the echoes through / My mind / Have filtered through the pines / I came and found my peace / And this is not a recording /
Doobie doo / Doobie doo / Or not doobie
Seems like they would've fit into the chorus, like the "truck driving man" rap
So don't bother with every other version that isn't Smile Sessions and Brian Wilson Presents right?
youtube.com
Mike Love does an impression of Bob Dylan!
i found a slightly different version on the archive and it's fucking stellar
When I saw him recently he made the crowd sing Row Row Row Your Boat
Check out this one

AlternateBrianWilson
the list goes on
>No Dirty Mujan mix
plebs do you even smileysmile.net
Is BWPS good? I've started to like a lot of Brian's newer stuff, which I thought would be a turn-off.
And does anyone know Ultra Smile 67?
yeah the music itself is fantastic but like
why listen to weird karaoke vocals and weird production when you could have that classic beach boys blend and epic reverb-soaked LA recordings
>Ultra Smile 67?
The seasonal one? I have it in my playlist, never gave it a thorough listen
this is such a cute song but also really fucked
>tfw no one wants to see Brian with me and whoever I ask says either "LMFAO Y do u like the Beach Boys??" or "He can't perform anymore"
>"LMFAO Y do u like the Beach Boys??
This attitude estranges me deeply
Most of the people I know even think they haven't made music for like 50 years
Do You Like Worms wouldn't have sounded out of place on a ______ album
(i always thought it was very zappa esque)
best thing to come from the beach boys was this album
WOW 'it's over now' is fucking beautiful! WHAT CHORDS OH MY thank you thank you. what year is this from?
I had a dream last night that I gave Brian a hug.
77, Brian was gonna have the material for Love You be a solo debut album but i guess it wasnt the rigth time
Council Bluffs tomorrow? Anyone else?
:')
I wish he was my grandpa
strange, I dreamt last night I was I was in a Beach Boys tribute band, and we were building a house
I was Al
the most consistent of the bunch, al was always my favorite after brian, though he's kinda tied with dennis just because of how fucking insane dennis was
>Al was on Decker last night
How
Al died last night RIP
I have to say though I feel betrayed by him for trying to ruin american industries
amazing. these recordings remind me of the brian songs on surf's up a little particularly day in the life of a tree. love you is also a great record
youtube.com
Everyone go to 19:19 holy shit
This is ultra smile 67 and I have no idea where this guy found this track called "indian wisdom"
HOW HAVE I NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE
...
lol hi
it's great isn't it
Anyone have a download for it?
the name indian wisdom comes from a hallmark gift book that used the back cover art from smiley smile that said "indian wisdom". the one in the video is actually just a cool little snippet from the smile sessions, at least that's how i understand it.
what i mean to say is that it's not officially titled indian wisdom
You're my favorite.
will never fucking understand why Bag of Tricks wasn't included in the Sessions mix it's so fucking dope
Best solo albums?
I really hope "Made in California" wasn't the final word for Beach Boys rarities/previously unreleased b-sides.
There was talk some years back of an official Beach Boys vault website that would apparently have EVERYTHING they ever did [except for stuff that they haven't been able to find] but, I'm not holding my breath for that anymore.
What are you going to listen to first after he dies.
oh sh- The dreaded question.
Probably this:
youtube.com
i'm going to listen to this
What and where is this archive?
Just saw him live in Chicago. Will post longer review when I get home
