OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I LVOE THAT ALBUM 10./10

>Everything Everything
which songs? I don't recall anything on the last one.

Tera Melos
Hella
Zach Hill

>I don't listen to a lot. Just above and ttng.

tricot since you like toe

all of the songs, but my favorite is warm healer.

oooo thanks alot. I really like toe!

your welcome

I've tried Hella... I didn't really like them. do you like them enough to suggest I give them another chance?

I'm so happy. Thank you!

Nice to see some Algernon Cadwallader on here. Needs some Elephant Gym, Piglet and Toe though.

I agree. Elephant gym is an amazing band. Never listened to piglet though

Hmm... try Zach Hill's solo. Tera Melos is probably gonna be the one you like.

ok thanks

here m8 youtube.com/watch?v=tKNPUH8UEO8

This kinda has Hella's Spiraticness, but sounds a bit more like music.

Feed Me Jack, Anatolia is a masterpiece, and last one is really good too

Howdy Prisma

Dianogah is the fucking best

youtube.com/watch?v=wciugdWnYzE

also Don Caballero and Tortoise and Maps & Atlases

Try Adebisi Shank and You Slut!

op is a dildo but this a good thread

Why am i a dildo?

tera melos are incredible

I've never really considered tortoise to be math rock, I can only think of Dj'ed with the weird time singatures. most of tortoise is more jazzy and some krautrock imo

Piglet - Lavaland
Little bubble where are you going changed my life

i'm really enjoying battles - mirrored, what some other math rock with electronic influences?

I'm kinda looking for this too, specifically very happy stuff kinda like Adebisi Shanks latest (last :'(((( )

You might enjoy Three Trapped Tigers

If you didn't particularly like Hella, try the album This is it and I am it... by Marnie Stern.

The Dillinger Escape Plan if you want some heavy mathcore.

Pretend - Bones in the Soil, Rust in the Oil. Fantastic math rock/emo/ post rock with strong jazz and improv influences

this

Fuckkkk i've literally never spoken to anybody else who knows this album, its so fucking good right?

Polvo
bygones
Hollow Ran
early Mylets
Don Cab
Yowie
Mantra Hiroshima and Cryptomnesia by Omar Rodriguez Lopez

also +1 to Tera Melos recs, my favourite band

forgot about And So I Watch You From Afar. probably more post rock but their first 3 releases are pretty "mathy"

...

Tiny moving parts

thanks

Gotta listen to the album Grow by Chon. Some of the best math-rock out there

Anything similar to ttng?

I like the twinkles but hate the vocals on Animals.

fall of troy if you like post hardcore

It's just entry level desu. Pretty good stuff but far from god tier

Can't find that album, thanks for trying your best though.

post good math rock albums

...

...

Arcane Roots made two of my favourite albums ever, Left Fire and Blood & Chemistry, their last ep is garbage tho

more dancy math like Gloss Drop?

Anyone have albums that are flirting between mathcore/post hardcore and math rock like Doppelganger?

Piglet lava land

Try their EPs

this

Thx senpai

u gotta get used to the high pitched voice tho
also some of the dillinger escape plan's stuff is kinda in the same genre

Does anyone else not listen to math rock because the word "math" reminds them of school.

This. I liked their last EP live, so I dunno if it's just the result of too much glaze, they are guilty of overproducing their albums a bit. If you ever get the chance to see them live, you should go.

Blood & Chemistry is amazing though, youtube.com/watch?v=6r_hPO-qdbw

Also, (though they're a bit more post-hardcore than mathrock), check out The Vertigo of Bliss/Infinity Land by Biffy Clyro and also maybe Frames by Oceansize.

Nah. Just think of it as progcore or some other p4k bs subgenre names

B&C is in my top 5 probably, thanks for the recs famalam

...

Don Caballero
Dysrhythmia
Maps & Atlases
Tera Melos

It seems like these math-core bands have one song per album that just grooves so hard and is way different than the rest.

An example from TDEP is "One of Us Is The Killer"

Another huge example from The Fall of Troy is Quarter Past:

I want some jazz with my distorted guitars. Any recommendations?

...

Theres this band called Floral, they have two eps of instrumental music that kicks ass

These guys don't get enough love. Some high quality twinkledaddies from the depths of Minnesota. They have an excellent live show and their other albums definitely compete with This Couch.

Black Math Horsemen are really really good

Here are a couple charts, OP. There are some overlaps but they cover a lot of good bands that the flowchart overlooks.

And for Math Rock past these charts, last.fm is really good at suggesting more bands based on what youve scrobbled.
Its also helpful to know that Math Rock is separated into a a bunch of distinct genre crossovers; Noise Rock, Midwest Emo, Post Rock, Neo-Psych, Indie, Jazz-Fusion, Post-Hardcore, and im sure there are a few others im missing. But once you find out which genre of Math Rock you like, it becomes a lot easier to find new bands that you like.
