Listen to Unleahed In The East by Judas Priest. You will not be disappointed.

Assuming you liked that Megadeth album, their Youthanasia is good too. Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets are also essential thrash metal, I think. Painkiller and British Steel by Judas Priest are solid and safe choices. I've not listened to metal in a long time, other than my favourite albums (those I mentioned plus others belonging to other subgenres), but I think these should last a whole day

Contradictions Collapse by Meshuggah.

vektor - terminal redux
vektor - outer isolation
vektor - black future

Low hanging fruit desu

sad thing is I already have the entire album saved
I also have the majority of those saved, what's a man to do

>should've mentioned that, kek
but for real, thank you guys for responding, my threads are usually just left alone to die

something tells me this is your favorite slayer album

Pretty much everything else by Megadeth is good too. Check out Inferno by Marty Friedman (from Megadeth). He has a nice sound. If you're up for some Spanish folk/progressive heavy metal check out Mägo de Oz. Anything before 2005. Maybe La Leyenda de la Mancha. They're not for everyone but I like that album a lot. A Blessing in Disguise by Green Carnation is good too.

Rediscovered this last week. Pretty good if you can get past the blatant 80s thrash worship.

going through it right now, reminds me a lot of slayer, i'm digging it

I feel you m8. How about

Swallow the Sun - The Morning Never Came
Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God
Gojira - The Way of All Flesh
Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
High on Fire - Luminiferous
Harvey Milk - Special Wishes
Black Dahlia Murder - Nocturnal
Meshuggah - obZen
Korn - s/t
Al-Namrood - Heen Yadhar Al Ghasq
Bathory - Hammerheart
Godflesh - s/t
Cattle Decapitation - The Anthopocene Extinction

Lots of this is much different from most of the stuff in the thread already but I hope you at least like some of it XD

actually, I don't have a favorite slayer album, but the one with the most tracks I have saved is Reign In Blood followed by Season and South of Heaven

I'll check all of those out except VDOP because I already have most of that saved

>enjoying metal not ironicaly

do you have any suggestions for power metal?

Helloween - s/t
Liege Lord - Master Control
Blind Guardian - Nightfall In Middle Earth
Iced Earth - Night Of The Stormrider
Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction

Love this band, never hear anyone talk about it though

How is that not Overkill - Motorhead?

youtube.com/watch?v=5kaLxpc7rS4&list=PLB0D59C8EC94CED10
^ If you haven't heard this album, that's common a lot of people stay away because it's newer, but this album is so fucking amazing

I actually went through all of the Iron Maiden albums recently, I found some great songs on there

Have you got around to Ozzy Osbourne yet? If not Diary of A Madman, Diary of a Masterpiece I love that album to deth
Gif unrelated

Gojira is all you need

I had similar taste when i was starting out.

The way of all flesh if you want something like pantera but deeper lyrically and even better drums, from mars to sirius if you want to hear their arguably best album. Terra incognita if tech death would suit you.

Or just watch The Flesh alive live performance from bordeaux on yt

I listen to some Ozzy occasionally, personally I was always more of a Dio kid but sure man I 'll check those out, and I see that Megadeth reference sneakin' around

ALSO CHECK OUT HELLOWEEN First 3 albums in particular, GODLIKE

I can't help but notice how similar DRI sounds to Anthrax, lovin' it

Slayers discog up until divine intervention
Metallica discog up until the black album
Anthrax: ATL, SOE, POT, STD
Megadeth: discog up until risk
Exodus: BBB, TOTD, TAE,
Sodom: M16 is my personal favorite

personally, the only song I like off risk is seven

I am genuinely surprised at the lack of Y&T, pretty obscure but still, check em out

I've listened to some of their stuff, they're alright

youtube.com/watch?v=v2f8kd1d278

You've probably already heard it

Actually, I haven't, personally not a fan of the vocals but the instruments are pretty good

Yeah I always thought Max Cavalera was a little too raw with the vocals, but it kind of grows on you. You might like their stuff with Derrick Green better

Alright, I'll be checking em out later, I have a little bit of a backlog here :p

>saving individual tracks
>not listening to full albums uninterrupted

what barbarism is this

also, check out Nunslaughter, Toxic Holocaust, Dying Fetus if you like riffs

honestly, there are a few full albums I have saved but there are just a bunch of albums with shitty filler tracks

Well, I think I found one of my new favorites, a while ago I went through all the Megadeth albums and their Paranoid cover came on

/metal/ seems to hate it but I think you'll really enjoy Deathless by Revocation if you're just getting into the genre. It's basically thrash metal with a death aesthetic

I should just make a certain / / thread and just discuss about mainly heavy and thrash, unlike /metal/ which always feels overrun with death metal diehards, been a while since i browsed it though, maybe actually get a tripcode and make it my signature board, or I'm just being delusional since I've been up all night lmao

There should be two generals for each topic. One for beginners and one for elitist tryhard assholes

hah, elitist tryhard assholes are truly the worst people aren't they

I actually feel really serious about doing this

Well, that was partially in jest. I don't think they're inherently a bad thing. It can encourage people to think for themselves foster better discussion to an extent. When it gets to the point where you can't go against the elitist grain is when a community becomes just another trash echo chamber.
I would not say /metal/ has reached this point.
Heh, why not. Though I think, in the end, you would get a lot of the same recommendations unless you went out of your way to encourage discussion.

i'd probably focus on discussion, now should I shove heavy and thrash in the same general and just make up a random ass name like /assticklers/ or keep em separate?

>/assticklers/
I love it.
Don't see why they would need to be separate. You'd probably get way fewer posters if you made one solely for thrash or heavy

alright, fair enough, now a name for it... and maybe actually tripcoding myself

...

/thrasshlickers/
idk im not creative enough

fuck it i might just make it /t&h/

Give this a listen, you might like it

Old School Death Metal from Iceland

youtube.com/watch?v=kPTq5ouiBFo

this band is really good

this is one of my new favorite albums

fuck, you're right

Man, that's an awesome cover.

really great progressive metal album

trigger warning: some djentyness

Alright, I'm gonna open up a /t&h/ thread soon, will link post id

Why are metal so shit

why are to english very not good?

testing my tripcode fag shit before making the thread

there it is guys, enjoy

A band that most people forget to check out is a little band names SAVATAGE, they kick so much ass, check out the album Hall of the Mountain King!

No, see 70s priests compositions ( best) with 80s priest metal sound ( best).

I like their first 4-5 albums. Night of the stormrider is their absolute best.

worth it for the drums alone.
never heard this before, usually hate revivalist type shit but this legit sounds like it came out in the early 80s in the best way possible.

Russian thrash from '88 that goes hard af

Lich King
Thrash or Die
Machine Head

The great Kat.

Beethoven on Speed

youtube.com/watch?v=AeHgX5ocnB4

My personal favourite trash speed metal album.

*twitch*

I never really liked Death Metal, but Amon Amarth's choruses are almost all godly, specifically Live for the Kill and Tattered Banners.

ENDGAME has a lot of memorable tracks, especially if you like your songs to be fast.

I also recommend all of Mastodon's discography, although I suggest Remission through Crack the Skye more so than Hunter and 'Round the Sun although there are a few good tracks in those.

Crystal Skull from Blood Mountain, Trainwreck and March of the Fire Ants from Remission, Blood and Thunder from Leviathan, and the entirety of Crack the Skye are the best samplers.
