Anyone have experience with the PRS SE guitars? Seems like you get good quality for the money at only $500 USD, but on the other hand I'm not really a guitarist so I wonder if it would make more sense to get something cheaper since it's just a secondary instrument.
Robert Cox
I have one, though it's my only electric guitar so take my advice with a grain of salt. I really like it though. The neck feels wonderful, it generally keeps in tune pretty well, even after going a little nuts on the tremolo. Can get a wide range of tones out of it, though I'm sure the pickups aren't the best. I've seen em go for as low as $300 used, so look around the used market
Brayden Rodriguez
I got a question for my lefties.
I've been trying to play right handed for the past year or so and I feel like I've hit a wall for about a month now. Should I keep putting my nose to the grinder or should I start over with a lefty guitar?
Nathaniel Smith
why didn't you start with a lefty first of all?
William Russell
depends on whether or not you think the wall you've hit is related to your handedness...
Carson Torres
anyone have experience with hagstrom guitars? I wanna get one but I can't find too much about them
Isaiah Watson
The store by my house didn't have any in stock and I didn't have the cash to order a decent one online.
That I'm not entirely sure of.
Brandon Allen
Are you a lefty who is learning righty? I did that too, since the guitar I had was righty, and it just felt more comfortable what's this wall you hit?
Nathaniel Young
Yup lefty trying to do it righty. Mainly my problem is the coordination between my hands when I'm trying to play faster stuff.
Take Thunderstruck for example. I can pick and tap independently from each other, then when I try to put them together they just sperg out.
Samuel Brooks
You just need to work on coordination firendo.
Julian Nelson
That sounds like a typical beginner issue that kinda works itself out. Probably not related to your handedness at all. Just keep working at it. How long have you been playing?
Julian Taylor
I've always thought the cheaper PRS were too glossy. The necks feel gross in my hands. They make a $1000 satin open-pore guitar that's fucking beautiful though
I'm not a lefty but if I were I would have learned right handed. Just smart imo.
Jack Roberts
How do I get good at playing and singing at the same time?
Owen Walker
Alright, I'll just keep working at it. About a year or so.
When you say tapping do you mean right handed tapping?
Ayden Parker
Nah, I meant fretting. Poor word choice.
Isaiah Foster
shit, should have probably gotten a left from the start. I'd say get one now and start playing lefty and see how quickly you progress. Might even come a lot easier using correct hand
Luis Johnson
Can anybody in /gg/ play any of Sun Kil Moon's shit?
Adrian Baker
Same way you get good at anything guitar related -- practice, and then practice some more.
Gabriel Bennett
Love u birdie My beater is an SE with locking tuners, graphite nut and aftermarket pickups. It's a beast and I really like it. Find a good deal, the Korean factory is the best after the japs. Not a lefty but seriously don't go the lefty route, you'll have a much much limited selection of guitars and most likely they will be more rare and expensive second hand. Keep it up darling and don't be a pussy
Asher Hernandez
Why do you want to know, user?
Blake Russell
I used to have an SE Santana. Great guitar, but not very much my style. I traded it for a Strat and a multifx
Jeremiah Rogers
Because I tried to play one of their songs and it was hard as shit. Although I don't play acoustic stuff that often.
Jack Robinson
Does anyone else wipe their cock all over a guitar they sell on craigslist? Lots of people have touched my cock rock machines
Samuel Thompson
what's a good guitar for emo
Alexander White
something with a single coil in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge
Henry Parker
I used to play the piano, but recently moved to a place where I can't fit it anywhere. Figured I wanted to pick up a more portable instrument in the meantime, and the only one I can think of that can replace the piano's ability to play harmony and melody at the same time is the guitar.
But before I rush out to buy one, I need to know how "viable" it is. I've seen people do it, but it's not clear to me how hard it really is. Something like hearing a song I like and deciding to arrange it for solo guitar, would it be a painstaking struggle against the physical limitations of human fingers, or would it be a fun and rewarding exercise like it is for piano?
Also, any ideas on what kind of guitar I should be looking at for this purpose? Electric seems out of the question, and I could imagine something with a subtle timber difference between upper and lower strings making it easier to create distinct layers, but other than that I'm completely clueless.
Christian Long
man i thought i was the only one ever cum on the back of the body?
Jaxson Davis
>Electric seems out of the question,
why exactly?
Oliver Jackson
Electric guitar is more fun and rewarding than piano imo. It's also harder and requires a lot more practice, but I don't think physical limitation should be a problem unless your physically inept.
Nathan Bailey
Never seen anyone achieve what I'm talking about with electric guitar. And I just can't imagine the sounds an amplified guitar makes being suitable for playing multiple layers on the same instrument.
Carter Torres
Post an example so you can be more comprehensible.
Brayden Howard
user you sound like you'd need either a classical guitar or an electric, a steel string is the most limiting.
youtu.be/ENJuNCkPfx0 The shit this guy pulls off inspired me a little, but also made me really skeptical by how he presents it as his own little party trick.
Don't wanna be a one-man band like him, the Chet Atkins example at around 4:00 is basically what I imagine I want to be able to do.
Matthew Walker
Realisticly you can do stuff like that on any guitar as long as you practice it.
Charles Gutierrez
Steel string acoustic would be best for you. But you can play that style on any guitar, it sounds nice on a clean sounding electric like what Chet Atkins played most of the time.
Andrew Foster
>Steel string acoustic would be best for you. Fuck, that's literally the opposite of what is saying. Who do I believe?
Charles Cox
get a semi-hollow electric.
Austin Murphy
If you strictly want to play that style a steel string acoustic is going to have the best sound because it rings out louder so your melodies and rhythm work will be more defined. Most people that play that style use steel string acoustics.
Is a good suggestion but I would get a fully hollow guitar instead so you still retain that acoustic quality. Gretschs and Epiphone emperors would be good choices.
Hi Sup Forums i can spend 500 dollars on a guitar, what would you recommend me ?
Cameron Perry
show me your local craigslist.
Austin Jones
I might be wrong, but those suggestions seem kinda tailored towards blues or country. Just to clarify, I referred to Chet Atkins because of his technique, not because I want to purely play the genres he played. I really want as much freedom as possible to play whatever I want of any genre, the same kind of freedom the piano offers. Do the suggestions still stand or are there more versatile options?
Colton Rivera
A thinline telecaster sounds like it might be good for you. Go and try to play one somewhere to see if thats accurate.
Jack Cooper
Hello Kitty Squire Strat with Dimarzio X2N in the bridge.
Colton Cooper
It's the same technique... Chet Atkins took that style directly from Country Blues players. Usually called Travis Picking.
> I really want as much freedom as possible to play whatever I want of any genre
Get an Electric then. A Hollowbody Gretsch is what I would suggest. It's a perfect midpoint between acoustic and electric.
Austin Morris
Don't worry that has nothing to do with playing it right handed. Practice slowly with a metronome and then speed it up as you can pick the notes cleanly.
Brody Gray
just wanna hop in here and say that this is the best looking twanger in the world. that one or the white falcon
Jordan Nguyen
I think i'm gonna go through with it, another guy offered me dosh for my cort bass and my fretlless squier p bass so it seems like the right time to get out
Aaron Young
You're gonna kill yourself?
Luis Martinez
naw, it's Roman
Blake Jackson
This is my 40$ start knockoff. I enjoy it. Judge me. I also have a 10$ amp.
Nathaniel James
Ive got $30k worth of professional equipment and I love playing a Korean Fender strat with pedals through and old 1989 Peavey Solid State amp the most. Keep on keeping on, baby. Its all about the player.
Blake Green
I like it user, looks neat. does it play good?
Nathaniel Long
Trying to get a good sound for Comfortably Numb on a Fender Mustang II (mainly the second solo). Any tips?
I feel like getting the right sound is more about the bends and giving them a lot of feeling. I'm not trying to get it to sound exactly the same; just close enough that it's recognizable.
I'm pretty sure I need a delay in there, but I'm not sure which amp model to use. I think I also might need an overdrive pedal or something. I've been playing around with effects a bit but I'm not really finding the kind of sound I'm looking for.
Gavin Myers
Plays like a charm on my 10$ amp. I'm just enjoying the music. You couldn't be more right. Btw this is my 10$ amp
Noah Davis
I've played both and the piano is WORLD easier to play 2 different lines, the guitar? I haven't even come close to being able to manage to play 2 lines
Landon Long
sell my shit it's me
Elijah Cooper
Glad you enjoy it user. I play on cheap equipment myself, but you should really invest in a better amp eventually.
Justin Phillips
I wish that faggot fucked off to play bowling. He's some 13 year old who's been impersonating you while you were gone. He's been posting the same two pictures of your Ric and Mustang. I know someone here still has a picture Don't worry user I'll send a pic of my setup to make you feel better
Elijah Torres
Oh. Roman is "froosh" the shitposter kid who has been trying to shit up these threads as much as possible. He's been impersonating people, and some other garbage. Recently he's been pretending to be the Brazilian guy saying he's gonna sell his gear before killing himself He'll always be the 12 year old he was on myspace
Mason Jenkins
So are you selling the Ric and keeping those Asian basses or selling the Asian basses to keep the Ric? Or both?
Colton Williams
I have a plastic fender pocket amp that I use as on overdrive pedal....its works really fucking good...
Jason Sanders
Kek Italo Burrito left after he got memed out of existence when his YouTube channel was found
Connor Green
He posted his youtube channel here multiple times though
Nicholas Sullivan
Yeah eventually I'm planning on buying a better amp, not really planning on buying a new guitar until this one breaks though. Only if the break is bad. If it's just the wiring or the pickups I can replace that crap. Pic unrelated it's my cat
Brandon Williams
selling the ric, the cort, and the squier basses most likely, and keeping the mustang and jag, but I might try and sell them too, I just dont pick anything up anymore and it isnt a part of my life I really invest in so I wanna sell stuff to maybe pay for university or a trip overseas or something
Kayden Jones
bought an Ibanez tone loc SM7 high gain distortion for $5 off ebay because it was ugly, dirty, missing screws, and the stomp door would close right. I fixed all those problems 6 minutes after I opened the box. Everything works right and Its a great distortion with built in noise gate.
Adrian Stewart
Gilmour uses compressor pedals a lot. Sets it up for incredible sustain. His sound isn't as over driven as you might think. An od pedal might be too much. Try compressor pedal and analog delay. As for amps, Fender or similar crunchy amps might be good choice
Kayden Myers
Fuck nigga, if you ever come to the US I'll take the Jag and Mustang off you. I don't think I've seen your Jaguar actually mind posting some pics? You should at least buy an acoustic just in case you ever feel like plucking for a bit
Aiden Gonzalez
Thanks, I hadn't thought of compressors. I'll have to play around with one in the morning and see what I can get.
Grayson Cooper
It's just a vm squier one.
Samuel Barnes
What does the void switch do?
Colton Cooper
Still interested, doesn't the Mustang have a 7.25" radius neck? What would be the prices you'd sell for? Would you do a bundle?
Dylan Gutierrez
it does, and I havent really thought about how much id sellf my 6 strings for
Noise suppression, 0 setting is none, 1 is semi slow attack, 2 is fast attack. Attack mean how soon the suppression kicks in. Honestly, the settings still give you a lot of space, you can make your guitar feed back for effect in songs before the gate slams shut.
Christopher Clark
$500 to blow on first bass /gg/, what to get? i'm looking at a Fender Japan Jazz Bass but what are your thoughts?
Liam Miller
Go for it, Jazz Basses are legit and Japan made stuff is pretty good value
stop picking like a retard, loosen your grip and let it glide over the strings. give it a slight angle too
Landon Garcia
i can't do it its way too loud i dont want to embarrass myself by having my entire house hear me
Easton Smith
if you keep with that "i'm too bad, i can't be good" mentality, you're never going to get any better. Accept you're shit, disregard any shame and spend one hour finding how little grip and strenght you need to barely hear yourself.
Adrian Adams
Think of how many shit musicians made awesome garage rock albums. Hell, there's a few gories solos played with only the index finger.
Jackson Collins
The reason the guitar work is so interesting on the first Dinosaur JR. album is because Mascis could barely play guitar or any chords at the time haha.
Asher Scott
What type of guitars do niggers like?
Luke Sullivan
stolen ones
Xavier Fisher
very big guitars
Brody Murphy
...
Lucas Williams
>EMG HZ why would he do that to himself
Carson Peterson
Because a memecaster plate single coil wouldn't work in that bass.
Isaac Lee
Flat response to get better answer from the onboard preamp I guess, it has 4 knobs and 4 switches.
