gross
fun to listen to
Good for bands that have a bunch of filler in between release albums with some good tracks in between filler and view albums as just a compilation of recorded songs and nothing more.
kinda pointless with the existence of Spotify
if you havent heard any of the bands material and you come across one of their GH cds at a store for cheap, its a good way to sample them
h3h3 > grade > shit > diarrhea > leafy = keemstar
wew lad nice opinion
A good way for labels to double the shekels
< dunkey, numbah one baybee
what did he mean by this?
Good if you want a sample of the band before properly getting into them
You cannot call yourself a fan of an artist if you have only listened to their greatest hits albums
which is why there aren't many actual Queen fans
Grade should be with Leafy DESU
what is this?
>which is why there aren't many actual Queen fans
I think that might be because queen sucks my dude
OP Here
True. Don't have it yet, definitely getting it
Off topic
See this what I was thinking, I thoroughly enjoy Queen and they're one of my favorite bands, but they have so many songs and albums that I wouldn't even know where to start or which albums are the best. So I just downloaded "The Platinum Collection" with all there hits, but it feels somewhat ingenuine
Bro.....
Queen are overrated as fuck because of underage leddit and 9gag users idolising bohemian rhapsody like it's the greatest song of all time.
But they're still pretty good imo
are you baiting for ">reddit"s?
Same could be said for other Artists who sre deemed top tier. I haven't gotten into Radiohead yet despite seeing alot of praise for their albums, and I just wouldn't know which ones to start with so that's why I opt for greatest hits and shit like that. That's goes for any artist though.
So far I've got
>Queen
>Guns N Roses
>Journey
>Aerosmith
Basically your standard dad rock, but I don't have the capacity to get into their individual work so....meh
useful for bands with distinct eras in long discographies whose talent usually doesn't amount to much past the hit singles
or where diving in head-first to an ENORMOUS back catalog is daunting and you'll get to it later
or bands you used to like but came to your senses for the most part
or radio bands that you've had their songs drilled into your brain pan even if you mostly hate their fucking guts
or good to pair with an artist's full albums when their early output is far better than what they're remembered for, usually also marked at some point by a change in labels
if it was stadium or dad rock or already very commercialised music, it's acceptable, but I wouldn't make a greatest hits album for a band like pink floyd who do concept albums, or bands that are punk and everything, they're acceptable if you are delving into a band for the first time, other than that they're useless
Thanks for the input. Yeah there are some bands that for me are well worth investing my time in and choosing which full albums are the best. In General, my rule is that if I like an artists and they only have 3 or 4 Albums I'll download all of them, but for artists who have several, I'll usually come here and ask for advice on which ones are the best and worth downloading
Pink Floyd
>The Wall
>Dark Side of The Moon
Metallica
>...And Justice For All
>Black Album
>Master of Puppets
What the fuck kind of bizarre incantation is this.
They are alright if i dont care at all about the band, but still want to listen to it.
if anyone here is trying to get into bob dylan, listen to his greatest hits vol 1. everything in there is goat, one of my favorite comps
10cc's s/t, sheet music, and their 20th century masters compilation will set you up pretty well all things told
>nirvana anothologies
when they do a greatest hits with more tracks than nirvana ever released durring cobain's life
Terrible
Except Queen idk why
Great for older artists whose albums were collections of singles and filler.
They're good to get into an artist or just get an overview of their work unless you're a rockist.
This is now an Essential Best Of/Greatest Hits thread.
...
the wall is considered by many to be mediocre here, it would suprise me that Sup Forums recced you the wall.
h3h3 and grade is reddit humor at it's finest, not remotely funny in any way
Manchild
