Albums to get someone into Experimental Hip Hop?

Here's my top 5:

1) Dr Octagon - Dr Octagonecologyst (1996)
2) Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein (2001)
3) J Dilla - Donuts (2006)
4) Madvillain - Madvillainy (2004)
5) Shabazz Palaces - Black Up (2011)

I did a video as part of my channel series where I talk about experimental hip hop and my above choices, check it out if you're interested:

AND IF THERE'S CRACK IN THE BASEMENT

Really handsome to be honest.

I'd say your top 5 is pretty great. Succinct, shows lots of elements of experimental hip-hop.

Madvillainy isn't experimental though.

good selection and like you say there are so many out there you could have chosen from

Here's a better list to get INTO experimental hippity hop:
>Ratking - So It Goes
>Lil Ugly Mane - The Weeping Worm
>Earl Sweatshirt - Solace
>Koreatown Oddity - 200 Rings
>Airospace - Vol. 2

those are all terrible

t. OP

nice

Liked the way you spoke and explained background to each album. I would have liked to see some early OF in there. Make a follow up vid with a more 'deep cut' take on some of the albums. Subbed

>experimental
>all in a similar style
I wish reddit would leave

t. Someone who hasn't listened to these

>getting into experimental hip hop
>no tms
kek

I'd probably recommend NLDW over TMS, as a jump off point at least

judging by OP's list i really doubt he's listened to The Koreatown Oddity and Airospace
