also, what do you guys think about this: >Splendor & Misery is an Afrofuturist, dystopian concept album that follows the sole survivor of a slave uprising on an interstellar cargo ship, and the onboard computer that falls in love with him. Thinking he is alone and lost in space, the character discovers music in the ship’s shuddering hull and chirping instrument panels. William and Jonathan’s tracks draw an imaginary sonic map of the ship’s decks, hallways, and quarters, while Daveed’s lyrics ride the rhythms produced by its engines and machinery. In a reversal of H.P. Lovecraft’s concept of cosmic insignificance, the character finds relief in learning that humanity is of no consequence to the vast, uncaring universe. It turns out, pulling the rug out from under anthropocentrism is only horrifying to those who thought they were the center of everything to begin with. Ultimately, the character decides to pilot his ship into the unknown—and possibly into oblivion—instead of continuing on to worlds whose systems of governance and economy have violently oppressed him. seems kind of dream theater-esque desu, not sure if i like the sound of that
It'll probably be alright, even the concept is kinda cheesy Maybe Daveed was a little inspired from being in Hamilton
Anthony Taylor
I don't get the impression that it's a concept album from the new track, but I like it anyway
Gabriel Young
Lo grade death grips rip offs
Ayden Powell
Concept sounds lame as fuck but I dig the track
Owen Martin
nigga that track sounds nothing like death grips the all experimental hip hop music = death grips meme needs to end
Jonathan Hill
I still find it super weird that the rapper from Clipping is in the most popular musical of recent years and that he also won a fucking Tony Award. I hear he also wrote a song for Zootopia too.
Ethan Baker
I'm okay with the cheesy concept cause that means no ironic club lyrics which was the only thing that I didn't really care for. If this track is anything like the rest of the album, I'm optimistic
Leo Gonzalez
is it me or has their music been going into total shit ever since Midcity?
Jacob Morris
Track is amazing and I'm looking forward to the album
Gavin Jackson
clipping. has been watching Tetsuo: The Iron Man I see
Joseph Ward
wriggle was okay, but baby don't sleep is one of their best tracks yet. i'm glad that they're finally embracing their influences.
Brody Morgan
CLPPNG was way better than Midcity so no
Matthew Evans
This is so tame
Nathaniel Lewis
The concept sounds fun, kind of like the opposite of hamilton. Yeah, it's goofy, but what concept album/rock opera isn't?
Owen Wood
know what? fair point. i just wish the album art was a bit better
Mason Ramirez
its probably their least accessible song aside from getmoneygetmoneygetmoney and the john cage cover if they go even harder i'd be very happy
Jeremiah Williams
I appreciate them experimenting and a lot of their noise is quite good but the MC gets grating desu.
Alexander Ross
tetsuo the iron man meets 2001: a space odyssey
Caleb Peterson
I'd hate to be the editor for this video jfc my eyes hurt
Dominic Murphy
>noise is quite good >the MC gets grating are u a alien
Ryder Gutierrez
I just mean his voice/flow/writing isn't very exciting to me so it gets annoying very fast
Evan James
I'd rather take Daveed's voice any day over this new trend of rappers mumbling their lyrics At least you can hear what he's saying
