All prog especially steve Wilson and Mars Volta
Childish Gambino
Pearl Jam
Nine Inch Nails
Screaming Trees
Because all of these bands are lame ass buttrock
>can't write songs and aren't remotely interesting or unique in any way
"some reason"
Prog is dead. Wilson and Rodriguez-Lopez cash in on the style.
That being said, TMV has a few good albums and Pitchfork is garbage.
nah, it's basically because they were popular. Other than british bands, like radiohead, pitchfork used to hate anything popular.
The Vines
Richard Ashcroft
The Music
Death Grips
Kasabian
Red House Painters
They were jerking off over Opeth for the longest time, they even giving that mellow piece of shit Damnation a 9.1. Not surprising that such a shitty website would latch itself onto cringe-y prog metal. At least TMV don't pretend to be some neoclassical genius band.
>Prog is dead
Dadprog fags are the worst
>hating Damnation
kys
Most good bands.
Pitchfork is objective cancer that only exists to pander to the times. That's why their music review scores are changed after the fact.
oasis
Every British rock band that isn't Radiohead
Prove me wrong
Is there a commercial music publication that actually has integrity and good taste?
Yep, they're drinking the id pol koolaid now just like every other media outlet

Are you even trying?
When pitchfork hates something it's usually for a good reason.
They despise Julian Casablancas for no reason
Ive never understood RHCP or foo fighters or any band like that
if you're going to rock then rock, don't put me to sleep
but this is just how I feel about it, I don't get the popularity at all
They haven't reviewed any of his stuff but I feel like theyd hate Devin Townsend
Devy is like polar example of hipster music
oddly almost the entire review is him praising the band and album
They gave Close to the Edge a 9
i'm sorry m8, foo fightes is shit but this is great, don't be a retarded contrarian
>youtube.com
Reminder.
To be fair they've only reviewed two of their albums. Lateralus was a review done by some chump who also gave The Fragile a 2 or some shit, and 10,000 Days deserved the rating it got.
this is completely accurate though
for some reason i love One hot minute, it's fun and dark at the same time, maube cause they used too much drugs at the time but there's something weird about that album, blood sugar and shit is great too, now they're literally foo fighters-tier, what a waste
Pithy pork penis peppers
they give every reissue a high score, though if yes was a 90's indie folk rock band and not a 60's-70's progressive rock band, any of their reissues would've gotten a 10
Pitchfork is the worst place on earth, just like reddit, it's all about what its cool at the moment, filled with PC bullshit and bland hipterish post- ironic pop
here's your reply
The reason they hate new prog is because new prog is creatively bankrupt and stylistically hollow. The prog classics deserve high scores not because of their classic status but because they were actually good.
>not understanding the review is written from the point of view of an edgy teenager that likes the album
wew lad
>this is what indie cucks believe
top kek Steven Wilson has been making better album than your nu maleindie folk trash
Was that supposed to be a rebuttal?
The red hot chili peppers are lukeworm at best and ear bleedingly lame at the worst, I don't know what about that song you thought would be convince me otherwise
>The reason they hate new prog is because new prog is creatively bankrupt and stylistically hollow.
Oh, like indie rock?
yeah cause the 442038th dream pop album of 2016 that gets an 8.0 is totally groundbreaking and interesting
You're not wrong about why new prog sucks but do you think Pitchfork is following that same reasoning? They're still charlatans even if they're right sometimes.
Well every British rock band including Radiohead sucks ass
>now they're literally foo fighters-tier
how is this a bad thing?
no
They're marketing tools, treat them as such
The reviews are only there for novelty, Pitchfork just exists to promote new music to people who may not hear it otherwise
The Vines are shit tho
>middle class grunge angst in 2003
yeah no
the chili peps are bad kek
How can you snob Steven Wilson and praise Damnation? Pretty positive he even has writing credits on that record too.
foo fighters are something like nickelback thats been praised in the right direction as a good pedestrian rock band.
The one thing I don't get is why they praise Deerhunter so much
Frontman is Schreiber's friend.
it's not a meme friendo
its not just pitchfork, everyone loves them
practically all of their albums, even fading frontier, were critically acclaimed
Lmao Dumb Amerifat
>singer is literally assburger
that was fuckin dope.
lol the fucking redwood in your eye m8
they are biased towards skeleton-men
ding ding ding
Jet is horrible.
Lmao what the fuck. I'm not even a Tool fan but that's just some ridiculous contrarianism.
Weezer
