Not from years past, but Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate)

Modern Baseball

honestly at this point snowing are retro in reference to the emo revival scene

but that's mostly nitpicking

just throwin' suggestions out there, friend :)

90s emo:

sunny day real estate- diary
cursive- such blinding stars for starving eyes
cap'n jazz- analalphetbetologyahgsfjsdafnasdfs
jawbreaker- bivouac and 24 hour revenge therapy

contemporary emo:
modern baseball- you're going to miss it all
algernon cadawallader- some kind of cadawaller
the world is a beautiful place- whenever, if ever
joyce manor- s/t

>Drive Like Jehu
oh no you didnt

Good music, but they are very recent

this is pretty niche but really good. you can almost hear the progression of the emo sound from early hardcore to the midwest emo style

There are so many. Pick one or more and go.

The Appleseed Cast
Sunny Day Real Estate
Pop Unkown
Mineral
Christie Front Drive
Jimmy Eat World (specifically Clarity & Static Prevails)
Planes Mistaken For Stars - S/T
Lumber
Coheed & Cambria - (FIRST RECORD ONLY.)
Benton Falls
Boys Life
The Casket Lottery
The Get Up Kids
The One Up Downstairs
I Hate Myself (Skramz crossover kinda.)
The Jazz June
On the Might of Princes
Penfold
Piebald (Earliest material is essential, even the skramz stuff)
Rainer Maria
Texas is the Reason (probably my favourite.)

Crossover Post-Hardcore:
At the Drive-In
Bear Vs. Shark
Moss Icon

on the might of princes - for meg might be the greatest song ever recorded

the whole record it's from is a masterpiece of its genre.

>didn't include The Brave Little Abacus

I purposely skipped revival stuff. But you're right.

>No one has suggested I Would Set Myself on Fire for You
c'mon guys

>don't you hate it
>when it turns out
>you're the asshole

they were actually my introduction to skramz. i was browsing somebody's files on soulseek and downloaded them because i thought the name was really pretentious. i discovered These Arms Are Snakes the same way.

What about japanese bands like Envy or Heaven in Her Arms?

YOU'RE PART OF IT

another 2014 great

love the band name + album title too

>listening to Piebald right now
thanks anons

Why is Modern Baseball so shit?

Weakerthans ripoff bullshit designed to get underage girls to shows

now that other sports have overtaken it in popularity, it just doesn't get the same caliber of athletic players that it used to

Both of you guys have valid answers

Modern Baseball occupy this weird spot inbetween emo, folk punk and pop punk, and they somehow manage to suck at all 3 genres.

n o u n $ ~!!

>nightcore

Lol, well put.

Really interesting choice. I wouldn't say "influential" but it stands on its own outside the scope of most emo albums.

Human Hands will possibly one day be seen as influential. I'm sort of hoping for a push away from pop-emo/run for cover records and towards the dirtier, sadder 90s sound.

looks like a good time

Moss Icon
I can't believe has been the only one to mention the greatest emo band of all time

Are you looking for suggestions? Thats pretty barebones.

I'd put Bivouac or Dear You over 24 Hour Revenge Therapy, that one's more of a punk album if anything.

all you need is American Football

listen to their sometimes memory fails me sometimes 7" if you havent its my fav of theirs

Thursday are nice tho

never listened 2bh
tbs is better anyways

ill revers u man

I like them

>tfw no gf to make emo music with

cap'n jazz

TBS and Thursday don't sound anything alike though.

Thursday get lumped in with the Hot Topic crowd because of their image, but their music was too weird and experimental for that imo. They covered Sigur Ros on one of their albums ffs.

can you link a thursday album please

just a thursday song for me ty

...

youtube.com/watch?v=GSNuyu8Jrcc

Thursday are one of my fav post-hardcore bands of all time desu. Really the only thing they had in common with mall-emo was the way they dressed and Geoff Rickley's vocals. They had more in common with bands like Cursive or Texas Is The Reason than My Chemical Romance, imo.

youtube.com/watch?v=2ENPGg5JBYg

Geoff also started a sick skramz band called United Nations after they broke up btw.

Marietta broke up last year. Also, Summer Death is fucking great.

hawthorne heights is really good (first two albums) despite what some people say

keep rollin on and on (abnd on and on and on,....)

Replace Holy Ghosts with You're Gonna Miss It All and Pinkerton with The Blue Album (you know it's the better album, don't fool yourselves. That and it's more poppy).

>2 TWIABP albums and no Into It. Over It.
WHY

...

...

...

I saw Hawthorne Heights with Mest this year, you can tell the band members clearly don't give a fuck anymore and are just going through the motions. I guess that makes sense.

Well he did start it but not after they broke up, first album was 2008 iirc? You might also wanna mention the fact that guys like Daryl Palumbo and Ben Koller were involved, they are kinda a supergroup

But yeah Thursday + UN are good shit

lmao didnt know mest was still around

What about bands like i create, emo side project and state faults ? They diserve some love imo

lol that's their worst

so I've always seen that one album by The Van Pelt around (Sultans of Sentiment) I'm on the third track , holy shit

I thought I saw emo side project mentioned

Superior album coming through

The relatively unknown singaporean algernon
