how can gaijins even compete?
youtube.com/watch?v=bvmk7PYOxNo

By not competing at all.

youtube.com/watch?v=lySyMsb21P0

hey they have some legitimately good songs
youtube.com/watch?v=Yn0sCguZW1M

DOOT YOUR TRUMPETS

>they have some legitimately good songs
I know, I already posted one

meant to reply to Fug

what were you doing when you realized that Jouhou is better than The Inalienable Dreamless ?

>grindcore song doesn't feature Kat Katz

the vocals really blow though

youtube.com/watch?v=k931PTn1Qjo

Why are there so many Jap metal bands with Excaliver in their names?

What are some classic death tracks that get you fucking pumped?

youtube.com/watch?v=V5Hx76iBo54

pretty sure half of the members of eternal excaliver went and formed phantom excaliver

>grindcore song is over 1 second

youtube.com/watch?v=JSZlfn5FD7s
youtube.com/watch?v=UC_tEbpXMFw
youtube.com/watch?v=JpErivrw3tw

grindcore isn't metal

you're mom is not metal

>Eternal Battleship

This is a Kancolle thing, isn't it?

Well, that's Harbour Princess on the cover art.

DM really needs to have some groove or thrash elements to it to get me pumped. Maybe some of the more catchy melodeath stuff. Otherwise I just find it relaxing. That "wall of noise" effect lots of DM has appeals to me in a similar way as listening to rain. It's cozy.

youtube.com/watch?v=L0ZCAarIVSI

This qualifies, I guess. The riff that comes in at 0:57 is groove as fuck and gets me going, and that fuzzy "blowing out your speakers" distortion the guitar has makes it feel intense as fuck.

>Get into Death Metal about a month ago after a friend recommended Bolt Thrower
>Listened to a bunch of classics
>Liked most of it, but thought Altars of Madness was just kind of OK
>Branch out, search for random stuff on M-A
>Some of it is good, some of it not so much
>Yesterday, give Altars of Madness another listen, absolutely love it

Nothing makes you appreciate why the classics are classics like listening to garbage for a month straight.

what are the 2016 black metal essentials? I literally haven't listened to a single metal album from this year which is embarrassing

I don't listen to BM, but I heard from some people in this thread that this was some good shit right here: youtube.com/watch?v=Mmrke3zxGY0

This is nice reminded me of Sammath thanks

Abbath, Dark Fury, Destroyer 666, and Inquisition are the basics.

oh, and Forteresse and Behexen

are you new to metal completely?

>essentials

I make no claim these are essentials, merely the BM records I have enjoyed the most this year so far.

all shit desu

thanks I'll get on these right now

Sort-of-not-really.

I listened to Dark Tranquillity and Lamb of God for years, and found a couple other bands (Arsis, Insomnium, some others I am forgetting) via youtube's similar videos thing. I occasionally found heavier stuff, and typically enjoyed it when I did, but didn't go seeking it out much, and youtube recommends more popular music, so it tended to go into less extreme metal rather than more extreme.

Then I found out about M-A and it made finding new stuff to listen to really easy. Also got this chart from some guy here.

So I'm not new to the entirety of metal, but new to anything heavier than Metalcore/Melodeath.

>kick-symbol blast-beats

Where to start with Bolt Thrower?

>mfw you will never hear any slab of doom metal that can compare to this
Listen to the song "All We Had". God tier music right there.

EY DUDE, FILL IT UP MAN

Go on, show the nice anons what you've been listening to.

>tfw the slam vocals sound like a urinal being flushed in a building with low water pressure for 4 minutes

From that list completely ignore everything under "melodic piece of shitcore" everything else is decent I think. I'd just add Convulse — World Without God, some Bolt Thrower, Suffocation and the Master s/t to get you started

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!

ROCK N ROLL GAS STATIOOOOOOOOOOOONNNN!!

Not gonna make a chart but
>Persefone- Spiritual Migration
>Vektor- Terminal Redux
>Ne Obliviscaris- Citadel
>In Vain- Ænegma
>In Mourning- The Shrouded Divine
>Be'lakor- Stone's Reach
>Sodom- M16
>Daylight Dies- Dismantling Devotion
All are fantastic albums and 9/10 to 10/10s besides M16

HEAVY METAL CHAINSAW
CUTTIN UP YOUR BLEEDING HEART

>Old school death metal
>No Death
Is this b8?

I've listened to all of those except Master. I'll check it out, thanks.

...

He has Scream Bloody Gore in the previous section

It's in the proto-death metal section.

Those first three are a part of the top 10 progressive albums in the last decade

Ah. Still, only one of Death's albums had that feel, so I would have used Leprosy and stuck them in old school death.

Explain hype for Gorement - The ending quest, 4 reviews and a perfect score of 100% on MA, listened to it, was one of the more generic osdm albums I've heard

>Cephalotripsy

>tfw trying to find that gook slam group Jehova Witness but can't find them anywhere

help

It's swedish so it became a meme

>Jehova Witness
They're called Jenovavirus you dumb faggot.

>Trump would deport this
youtube.com/watch?v=Ms4FC0QqhEM

>Lyrical themes: Gore, Anti-Satanism
>Anti-Satanism
G2GB

What the fuck is a pendlom and why are Howls of Ebb making vows about it?

I'm sorry about the download Fearless

There are like 5 different black metal charts on the Sup Forums wiki, which one should I be looking at to dig deeper into this shit

Just use RateYourMusic.

>fast forward 2 months later
user is sitting in starbucks and watching live feed of his girlfriend taking jamal's cock

If it's just going to give me shit like Deafheaven no thanks. I want more underground, dark shit.

>not being there in person
If you're gonna do it, at least do it right.

The only black metal you need is Bathory, Mayhem, Immortal, Emperor, Burzum, Darkthrone, Dissection
all else is shit, trust me

>Black metal
Ew. Hey, a good band with black metal elements to it is In Vain, but it's very progressive and has cleans in it too.

Do not do this

rateyourmusic is reliable for some shit but definitely not metal, I'll make you a list hold on

do i cop or not /fa/?

>Inquisition

alright I'll make an exception, also peste noire but they're barely bm

r u the same guy who tried to download methals from me in soulseek :-DDD

What are some meal bands who ruined themselves by going full fucking meme? Pic obviously related.

I listened to a ton of grindcore and goregrind but this album is still fucking best shit ever.

Its a shame there is no albums with these kind of drums, cool gory aesthetics and good riffs

Only good song in Ride The Lighting is the one with credits to Mustaine

HMMMM

hi, Dave

lol why their last album was amazing

Gojira, and Arch Enemy after their 1st album

>carcass
>good riffs

>Boring riffs separated by melodic bits with EBIN midi vocals
>amazing

To this very day I still cum every single time at the end of malek al-inkitar

>He hasn't heard Heartwork, one of the most iconic extreme metal albums and the king of riffs
B8 anyways

Are you suggesting Ne Obliviscaris went full meme with Citadel?

Their first 3 albums were pretty good.

found the atmoshitter

Nah m8, that was their best album. I forgot to remove the image from when i tried to post in a dead thread.

imho they've gotten better with each release, more interesting definitely, and the song writing is much more inspired and varied - and sitll good quality.

it's 2deep4u

>Implying that While We Sleep isn't one of their best songs

Title track is the only good one

But insomnium is still great and they are about to drop the AOTY

Can't be a good album when Dan Swano is there to ruin the production
