I think I had a little contribution to that. Previously the Grimes threads were random and not organized at all. Few months ago I opened (almost) daily "Daily reminder to be nice to Grimes" threads that were quite successful, and from here it snowballed into the current general threads.

So here's an idle question for you all. Which album (forgetting Art Angels for the moment) do you think is the best of the bunch in the running for this year's Polaris Prize? For anyone inclined to take a listen, the other nominated albums are:

My question wasn't about whether any of them are better than Art Angels (since - given that this is a thread for self-proclaimed Grimes fans - the answer to that question would be a foregone conclusion.) Which album is actually better, Geidi Primes or Halfaxa? And why?
Halfaxa is objectively better, but my favourite is Geidi Primes
I think they both offer a different thing.
While Halfaxa is definitely more robust in it's production and the quality of the recordings themselves, the emotions and abstractions brought to the table by Geidi Primes can't be dismissed for this simple fact.
To put it rather shortly, the experimental sci-fi nature of Geidi Primes makes it just as worthy of a listen as Halfaxa, even if it's extremely low-fi.
For me Halfaxa.
Imo while Geidi Primes has an interesting disjointed playfulness about it, Halfaxa's sound is just so cohesive and darkly beautiful... it can get down right scary.
