The album Drake Edits by DJ Paypal, accurately portrays the themes of his music within a more realistic context. With every track, while it is originally slower paced to be a more sensual experience, I believe the sort of lifestyle that Drake leads is far better represented with the frenetic, repetitive grooves that juke has to offer. While the instrumentals are still harrowing, they display a young man living in the fast pace of 21st century fame, and attempting to slow down with the person he's trying to court. But all he can do is try, because within that context, there will always be another day, where he is barraged with countless amounts of information, and every implication of personalization that he displays must be approved by those around him. Therefore, it's a display of how one's ability to be an intimate individual can be stifled by the many associations that they have, especially in the 21st century, where media stars can be exploited for their flaws very easily.

that Skogen piece you rec'd me is cool, reminds me of Before Driving to the Chapel... by AMM

dl'ing Ballads now

heh, nice. Yeah, they got a nice EAI-vibe going. Maybe check out Dans Les Arbres for further listening, it's more jazz-inclined and acoustic than Skogen, but is also driven by pluck sounds.

The Boats is different. Especially that album. Drawn out post-rock/slowcore ballads, albeit more inspired by modern classical and ambient with hints of chamber pop hidden inside.

i'll check that one out
Ballads of the Research Department is off to a really good start
