I thought this was a punk thread?

They aren't punk

Why not?

...

Not a good way to start a punk thread newfriend

>your dubs are dubs
>nice.jpg

I honestly really like them but can admit they are over rated.

>punk
>green day
pick one

Finally something not pop

they are most defiantly punk, just s different kind.
And if they aren't, they embody rock n roll in general

Punk sucks

what makes them not punk ?

Their best is better than The Offspring's best, but they're less consistent. Bang Bang was OK.

>mfw Bang Bang wasn't that bad

I liked pic related

what's with all the recent punk threads?

>implying green day isn't inherently fedora-tier
>implying pop punk is punk

Yes or no?

>>implying green day isn't inherently fedora-tier
Not really
>>implying pop punk is punk
It is literally the second word in it's literal definition

y

I think they'er cool

Tre Cool is an underrated drummer

word

This
Green day is basically radio pop punk at this point

PT BOE ON A WILLA BETTER

>Not really
wow you sure dissuaded me with those hot opinions user
>It is literally the second word in it's literal definition
and yet it has pop in front of it, completely negating anything punk about them

Green Day's rhythm section in general is underrated. When I Come Around has a fantastic beat and bassline.

Real punk

Reminder that being pop-punk doesn't mean it's automatically not punk, and punk was a reaction to pretentious prog rock, not pop.

Is it just me or are all 2000s punk / emo / nu-metal music videos essentially the same shit?

youtube.com/watch?v=Pj1Yv5EQPcM

It seems you uploaded the wrong picture

No i remember typing "misfits" Into Google

just a reminder that we bullied this guy into trannydom

>le sex pistols best punk band meme
>green day higher than bad religion
>rancid higher than ramones

>Reminder that being pop-punk doesn't mean it's automatically not punk

it is the case with a vast majority of pop punk outfits, it's just the punk image and branding being sold through commercial music as a fashion statement rather than the ethos or actual reason why punk was a thing, that's why i disregard a lot of pop punk music as being punk because they only aim to dress the part.

green day and avril lavigne are really good examples of this.

Pop punk (people who know how to play instruments and write songs) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "authentic" punk (edgy image is more important than songcraft, musical ability optional)

>implying early punk rock wasn't about how anyone could play it

>implying that isn't the exact reason why it was terrible

>not understanding punk
It's not exactly complicated

Bait kindergarten homework

Avril Lavigne I agree with you on, but not Green Day. They really didn't change their topics much, they just got more popular. Simple Plan or Good Charlotte are manufactured "punk" bands.

This "Greenday isnt punk" argument has been around for 20 years and it all started from butthurt bitchs st gilman st

Why the fuck won't people just shut up about punk, punk this, punk that. FUCK PUNK, AND FUCK BABYBOOMER FARTS

I do understand punk, which is why I don't like it

You don't understand punk, which is why you do

...

The true GOAT punk album

punk rock birthed these little assholes

>You don't understand punk, which is why you do

What did he mean by this?

I meant you don't understand that it's inherently superficial and lazy music for superficial and lazy people

That's not a deep enough explanation for the subconscious thought you posted. My guess is that you'll never be able to replicate true glory again.

>implying pic related

I think they are incredibly deep. And at least manage to change their sound with every album. instead of doing the same thing over and over again like some "punk" bands

what are you listening to fags
youtube.com/watch?v=hCmLZ2mVUGg

who?

youtube.com/watch?v=AwH5cetSfXQ

: )

Yes, some of my favorite guitar solos in punk

>And at least manage to change their sound with every album. instead of doing the same thing over and over again

you deaf asshole no wonder you like pop punk

youtube.com/watch?v=xPBZgv34Aw8

Is there such a thing as prog punk?

Greenday

sorry. what?

Hüsker Dü/Minutemen-type bands? Post-punk is probably what you're thinking of.

Post some shit you recently discovered

MORE LIKE GREEN SHIT AM I RIGHT GUYS

what was wrong with them

youtube.com/watch?v=AKgProry96E

Also been listening to Death Side a lot, mostly this one
youtube.com/watch?v=dE8ChmRHSQA

youtube.com/watch?v=zPyAii6f-hc

I don't get post-punk. It doesn't seem like a logical continuation. Separate from punk, I barely understand as well. What's the secret? It's not like I haven't enjoyed a post-punk record in my life, but why a movement? Is there something I'm missing?

Love it

I agree. I love post-punk, but how did that shit evolve from punk?

I probably just listen to tto much hxc

OP is Erik Yee

youtube.com/watch?v=SQnthAyboG0

Why is people spelling it as one word so common?

Well, being the guy you replied to, what's your secret

>there will never be another foxboro hot tubs album

You could think of Dos as a FHT album even though it's one of the worst albums of all time

I really doubt it would be near as good. It's weird, I hate their current music, but love FBH. They really need to try something like that again.

From what I get, because a lot of the bands were initially formed by former punk band members or played punk in the bginning (Magazine was founded by a Buzzcocks guy, PiL was John Lydon post-Pistols)

Same with post hardcore (Ian Mackaye, Quicksand was formed by members of youth crew bands and so on).

They're not really movements, they're more about attitudes or backgrounds

to what?

...

Who Wrote Holden Caulfield is one of their best songs

youtube.com/watch?v=aXl4jPhQVDk

>and yet it has pop in front of it, completely negating anything punk about them
so the Ramones weren't punk then?

>Stooges less punk than Green Day
kill me

youtube.com/watch?v=7RLDZaWN8b4

>travis barker
>great drummer

Did you mean Nick Barker?

youtube.com/watch?v=2bS-ZxNYC_I

nice try faggot

that sucked a whole bag of dicks

Green Day

that was weak, dude

that's a lot of dicks

playing fast is one thing, being good in another

better than this sloppy shit

youtube.com/watch?v=Aw7w98hI-ic

op has dubs, must be true

...

>worst Ramones album
>le edgy sex pistols XD

Aside from London Calling, I'll take the left thanks.

USEDTA MAKE A LIBBIN BOI BICKIN A BANANA

This is a really good 90's skate-punk album. Favorite blink album tbqh

I actually liked American idiot as a pop rock album

Solid 7/10 for what it was going for

Calling it punk tho is obvious b8

Pic related and insomniac are the only good Green Day albums. Insomniac is almost a perfect 10

What the fuck are you smoking
