Can anyone recommend me some piano works similar to Chopin's Nocturnes and Scriabin's Etudes?

Bach 1

Niggers.

>Manze
Noice. Check out his Tartini sonatas too.
youtube.com/watch?v=bFRL6zsxTyQ

You seriously like that above his 6 violin sonatas with a written out keyboard part?
(P.S. of those, no. 3 is the best. Same with his solo violin sonatas.)

My favorite violin Sonata from that set is no.3 for its energy, but 6 is a close second.

I like Wagner.

We all do. Especially Lohengrin.

I like to joke that Bach never specified an arrangement for the Kunst because he knew it was too good to be dirtied by sound, but I'm starting to think that he really did, on some level, want people to experience the piece by looking at the sheet music and perceiving the notes as abstract zero-dimensional pulses operating in an infinite vacuum with only their relative positions to define the space– ideally, one should memorize the whole thing and be able to "think" it instantaneously as one pleases, and even then only grasp a fraction of the magnitude of this sublime crossword puzzle.

Music abstracted beyond any feeling of which the human soul is capable, beyond any thought of which the human mind can sustain, beyond any viscera to which the human body can respond. A ballet for the heat death of the universe.

Fuck IDM.

We should move to Musikchan, doesn't even have captcha

Fuck off m0zart

Is jazz inferior to classical?

What is essential Schoenberg?

The string quartets, the piano and violin concerto, and Moses und Aron.

Do you guys like choral music/gregorian chants?
Personally I can't get over how boring it is, I've been trying to get into medieval music lately

5 pieces for orchestra
verklarte nacht

Also "a survivor from Warsaw"

plainchant can be incredibly expressive, but renaissasance polyphony is much more interesting and varied. You should check out some of the composers from pic related.
I offer these pieces to start with:

Goffredo Petrassi

There is only one composer and his name is Bach. Everyone before him was rudimentary in comparison, and everyone after him worked in the shadows of Mozart (debatable) or Beethoven. He was better than both of them. Nothing more sublime exists in any art form.

>He was better than both of them
What's Bach's best opera?

What's Bachs best clarinet quintet?

BWV 82 and Matthäus-Passion

>what's bach's best music for electric guitar?
>checkmate, atheists!

youtube.com/watch?v=YAcmLq0Rqa0

Checkmate shitpin cucks

Do you base this statement on his originality? I like to think later composers improved on his ideas

That's fine, but the quality of the music should always be most important.

its a meme you dip

I'm a newfag no bully, but I don't find his statement that radical to consider it a meme

Giorno Giovanna , look him up

Whom are you quoting?

petzold

ur mom

(You)

Why do people disrespect Bach? o_O

Jealousy because they're false and can't entry, otherwise they'd burned and died

what did he mean by this?

>being this false
Wew lad

thats why he ripped off petzold right?

WHO?

youtube.com/watch?v=c46fr2EZOhQ

superior to the original to be honest

"no"

Someone explain the petzold meme to me.

Giorgio Moroder.

petzold

Why do I keep mixing up the second movements of Beethoven's 1st and 5th symphonies in my head do I have downs

The 5ths second movement is one of the more memorable Beethoven slow movements 2bh.

>mixing up Beethoven's 5th with anything
wew

All of them.
Personally I think pergolesi wrote the best stabat mater of all time.

brahms 1 and indians is the only right answer here

None.

Yes.

think of a rebellious teenage son
that;s jazz to us
except we dont love him and used to molest him in the tub when he was a little boy

What's your opinion on masturbatory garbage like modal/avant garde/free jazz?
For me it's so far up it's own ass it feels completely disconnected from reality and unenjoyable

If bach were composer how would it today seem to resemble composition of beethoven and bach, even though scales aren't exactly the same as they were many years ago?

I understand eras of music (baroque, classical, piano), but is the timeline straight?

In my honest opinion, bach doesn't necessarily create the timeline, but instead curves it into the direction of mozart, and without the keyboard, bach's music, or timeline of an era, wouldn't exist today. I couldn't imagine baroque without tones.

Petzold

What

What's the best version of Glenn Gould's Goldberg Variations? Listening to the one from 1981 and it's gorgeous, but I've heard some express that a previous recording was superior. Some also have said that Glenn Gould is a poor interpreter but I like his playing. Thoughts?

that is our accidental bastard-offspring
at least jazz is derived from decent shit

>modal
>masturbatory garbage

No. Both focus on different things and can't be directly compared in such a way. And even if they could be directly compared, enjoyment is subjective.

Have you ever spanked your wank you fucking dickbag? It feels good doesn't it? What's wrong with musical masturbation then, you prude!

phrasing is better/more mature in the 1981 version by far
the 50s version was the first thing his first recording and kick-started his career but there is no comparison

It is, changing modes every few cycles doesn't make it more emotional or interesting

>Affecting change in the structure of a musical composition does not make it more interesting
What makes music interesting, then?

>inb4 muh counterpoint

He only did 2 recordings of the goldberg variations, the 50s one is faster, which I like, but it's really robotic and overall worse than his 81 performance. If you're going to bother listening to another recording of the goldberg variations, I STRONGLY recommend getting a harpsichord recording, because it was originally written for harpsichord/clavichord, and you already have a good enough piano recording of it anyway. I enjoy both harpsichord and piano versions of the variations.

But that's not even necessarily masturbatory.

which composer had the most fucked childhood?
gotta be brahms

Check out my youtube channel.
youtube.com/channel/UC_GgVtHAkHKNghroUKONROQ

Wasn't Mendelssohn's childhood pretty fucked up too?

Counterpoint
All I'm getting out of it is a person showing off his knowledge in theory

That's what they're for. I sleep to Bingen desu.

you might be retarded

No lol.
youtube.com/watch?v=uFjxmHqNtyA

Thank you for the advice, I'll definitely listen to a harpsichord recording also.

brahms got regularly molested by prostitutes and sailors in the bar he played piano in when he was 14. beat that mendy

he was a rich jew so I doubt it was too bad
