bump

has any /noise/ friend listened to this? even half of 2 tracks like me? in my opinion, it's really decent ambient noise. were they trying to be funny?

go to bed, charles

best /shugazi/ chart?

I just finish Giles Correy self titled album, and really enjoyed it. Any reccs noisy friendos?

We already knew that.

that's my go to chart
best of all I've seen

(OP)
Avey Tare Said is insane

No.
It only reflects the tastes of the two people who made it. There are a few really obvious classics that were left off of it only because the people who made the chart weren't too into it.

Cocteau Twins' Heaven or Las Vegas is way more highly regarded as an influence on shoegaze, but for some reason Victorialand is on there instead. Galaxie 500 is missing too. I think the makers of it really should have consulted the board about it more instead of trying to keep it closed to their own taste.

never really thought about it like that before
you're right that some classics are missing but it's meant to be an intro, right?
you can always explore farther into any artists/sounds that you end up liking

The classics should be included in an intro.
They're the essential albums that influenced almost every shugazi album that one would find by digging deeper. As an actual introduction to the genre, just to get the general idea, people should know the most influential albums.

Someone DM Avey and see how he feels having a song named after him

Well Victorialand is listed under proto-shoegaze, it would be inaccurate to put HOLV there

I agree
I just found the chart useful despite its shortcomings so I wouldn't discount it entirely

Yeah it's alright, I'm more responding to how the post said it was the best one.

I doubt he would even know
