2015 was disco-funk
this is known
2015: the weird frontier
2016: the weirder frontier
2017: the weirdest frontier
2016: 0% effort
No. 2015 was the year Rap/Hip&Hop became self-aware.
Politi-Rap for 2015.
bruh I can't even remember what I did yesterday much less last year. Sup Forums is a time travel gate, its a blur. i cant remember god dammit I can't!
christ
*another round of meme rap
2015 weightless grime.
i was just thinking about this chart earlier today and from the insane amount of shitty free-on-bandcamp releases being uploaded every day on what.cd i can safely say this year's trend is...
SYNTHWAVE
i know it's older but it really picked up recently, especially with stranger things and the survive soundtrack and upcoming album
even the BBC is playing synthwave these days
this
dont deny it
what a shit
this
you're dead kid watch your back
I don't agree, grime fits better
2015: Lofi
2016: GRIME
Witch House was pretty good tbqh. I could go for another round of that.
yeah, but everyone who made it moved to the other styles of music or died
So, we have to pick the worst albums of each years, is that it ?
Where does one start with witch house?
wot grimes been around for ages and didn't really surge in popularity last year. The Toronto sound has been around for a couple of years but kinda solidified as a genre last year
...
the fuck is meme rap?
lil b, kanye, tyler the creator etc...
Synthwave has to be somewhere in that list. Or is it too big to be constrained into 1 year?
Also, extend it back to 2009 so chillwave can have a spot.
yes actually
Rap that whoever is calling it meme rap doesn't like.
For a lot of Sup Forums, this is basically everyone popular.
there's no such thing as "bubblegum bass"
Did that asexual vaporwave porno ever actually get made?
vaporwave actually exploded in 2013
2013 was also the year of outsider house
oOoOO - oOoOO EP
best of the entire genre, imo.
2015 is when all arca wannabies had blown
And they call it uk bass or post indusrial
salem - king night
obviously
Vaporwave kinda came back by 2015
It hasn't really improved artistically but yeah the normies/tumblr crowd started getting into it around that time and it's only growing
2016 is post-industrial reggaeton (kamixlo, kablam, chino amobi, lexxi, toxe, mobilegirl, moro, elysia crampton)
>2016
This isn't a genre but this definitely is the freshest thing out in 2015-2016 and all of this is kinda part of the same scene. The range of
different styles in this scene is pretty diverse from post-ironic edits and mashups to serious experimental electronic music.
From experimental bass music that takes alot from instrumental grime, juke and baltimore bass to groovy soundscapes.
Some of the notable traits are heavy use of sound fxs such as glass breaking, guns, swords, transformers movies sound design type thingys as
percussive elements, 2000's nu-metal and pop acapellas and trance synth lines
Here are some tracks to give you a example
