Sorry I'm really bad at picking favorites.

A little generic (I know look hows talking.) but solid, try watching Don't Look Nowif you haven't.

fuck dude can we be friends? All around amazing choices. Listen to Hersey by Lustmord and watch The Ballad of Narayama

Which Ballad of Narayama? Kinoshita or Imamura? I've seen both.

Need template. Too lazy to make that shit.

>A little generic
Yeah.

>Don't Look Now
Didn't really please me, but I understand it's artistic appeal.

I'd think you'd like the Kinoshita one more. Hmm what about:

Tetsuo: the iron Man
Hard to be a God
The Wind Will Carry Us
Ivan the Terrible
Kurenko
The Haunting

>look hows talking

fuck, I meant look who's talking

good taste

I'm not particularly big on either honestly. The theatricality of the Kinoshita one is nice. Very intriguing set design.

I'm a fan of Imamura's though. I think Oshima and he are a lot more interesting than any of the old Japanese traditionalists. Maybe Mizoguchi survives that evaluation but I'm not that big on Ozu or Kinoshita.

>I have seen
Tetsuo
The Wind Will Carry Us
Kuroneko
Ivan the Terrible

I basically have enough knowledge about film and film studies to have a masters in film so I'll probably have seen most of what you try to throw at me.

i fucking hate formatting these things

man you just broke my heart.

Surprised you haven't seen the haunting yet, that ones an essential.

...

I'm not that big into old (pre 70s) horror. Most of the time I don't think it works all that well. I'm not opposed to watching it at some point but I have a huge backlog so I doubt I'd get around to it in the next few months.

The Haunting is very much a 70s-era horror film.

Oh, on Ozu. I get it. I get the emotional depth of stuff like An Autumn afternoon and I see the care he puts into everything but Late Spring and Tokyo Story come across as didactic and most of his other works come across to me as too naive.

Don't get me wrong. there's a ton to learn from Ozu in terms of blocking, editing and structure, I just don't think his core concepts and concerns intrigue me very much.

Are you talking about the 1963 Haunting by Robert Wise?

Chuckl'd

...

...

yes that's the one, I meant in terms of it's style.

>underage

Still, I like you.

Okay. I'll put it on my list. I still haven't watched West Side Story so I'll do a Robert Wise weekend some time.
