Sup Forumslancholy

Does Sup Forums ever listen to music that isn't dreary? The Sup Forums essentials are chock full of the drab and dull, and the chart threads are equally morose. Even your EDM recommendations are moody, and that's a genre known for being upbeat.

So I'm issuing Sup Forums a challenge.

Easy: List your top 10 favorite upbeat songs, if you can.

Medium mode: 10 favorite upbeat albums

Hard mode: 10 favorite upbeat artists

Impossible for a Sup Forumstant mode: 5 favorite upbeat genres.

Can you do it, Sup Forums?

Didn't use a band more than once on any list, most of this is ranked as to which is happy+my favorite, the only #1 that's my actual favorite on the entire list is Fly on the Wall. Does uplifting count as upbeat? Something that soothes you and makes you feel good? If so, then erase almost half of the parenthesis on the albums list.

>Prince - Parade
>Meters - Look-a Py-Py
>Sonny Rollins - Work Time
>Louis Armstron - Hot Fives and Sevens

it seems to me that anyone who attempts the 10 artists list should include James Brown in it - very few artists are more upbeat than him.

My favourites are black metal, shoe/blackgaze, noise, industrial/electro and punk. Which I guess is pretty Sup Forums standard.

Tonight I drank a lot, took 120mg of codeine and went for a walk while listening to music until 1am.

I wouldn't say I'm a dreary person I'm quite positive when I'm at work or with other people but when I am alone (which is a lot) I tend to be melancholic and drown myself in dreary art. I don't try to be this way I am conscious of it but I've always been like this so whatever.

inb4 nice blogpost

This may lighten the mood and uplift the spirits. If not it'll probably make you laugh at least.

lol too easy

How are This is the Day, Since I Left You, Wouldn't it Be Nice or In the Aeroplane Over the Sea upbeat?

>upbeat artist
>If an a artist us perpetually one emotion then they're pretty shit

>implying music is either upbeat or dreary

The range of emotions is way wider than that. Strictly upbeat ike you defined this to be is just bland IMO. If that's what you want I definitely can't do it. For example, I perceive Roygbiv by Boards Of Canada as a really joyful song, but it's probably not upbeat.
