Oh look, another Metallica song that sounds just like any other of their previous tracks!

Awful guitar tone, awful drums, just awful.

thrashy.

but extremely boring as in 1 decent riff played over and over

James is finished

Fpbp. These guys will always be my favorite, but it sucks to see how uncreative they got.

Metallica is back baby

The swearing sounds too tryhard but it otherwise sounds great

Great instrumentals. Fucking terrible lyrics. Par for the course with Metallica.
Feels like the song suffers from its short length, especially the solo, which was just weak.
5/10

BORING AS SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds so incredibly cheap, at least St. Anger and Death Magnetic had a unique (albeit divisive) sound, but this is straight up mediocre.

But it's a B track of the Death Magnetic!
At least sounds like it

>Feels like the song suffers from its short length,
Are you kidding? Every song on Death Magnetic was at least 3 minutes longer than it needed to be. Shorter lengths can only be a good thing for Metallica.

I don't know man, drums (especially the snares) sounded louder and more abrasive on DM, this is castrated.

True. However, if you look at the guitar sounds for instance - they are basically plain ripped out of DM. Or maybe that's just my ears fucking up again.

production on the drums is still fucking ass
literally no dynamic range at all, i can hear the hi hat clipping
fuck rick rubin

still can't hear rob

this song is really great actually. enough with needlessly long songs

>So how much compression you want?
>
>Say no more.

WE'RE SO FUCKED

SHIT OUT OF LUCK

>Produced by Greg Fidelman, along with James and Lars, this is our 11th studio album and is available for pre-order...
>Greg Fidelman

Literally who?

what did they meme by this

yeah what's the deal with those? necessarily long songs is what we need more of

NOW I'M COMPLETE AND MY COCK YOU WILL SUCK

Engineer that worked on Death Magnetic

They wrote this song after watching the Pick of Destiny.

Rick's wife's son.

Must be his protege or something because the drums sound like fucking ass. Lars is probably such a dicksucker that he thinks they sound "brootal" too

>Greg Fidelman

>Black Sabbath - 13 - Recording
>Metallica - Death Magnetic - Mixing, Recording
>Metallica - Lulu (Collaboration) - Producer, Engineering, Mixing
>Slayer- World Painted Blood - Producer, Recording, Engineering, Mixing
>Slayer - Repentless (Single) - Producer

That might be the worst resume I've ever seen.

yikes...

how is this guy able to find work

...

>Greg (((Fidelman)))

Sounds like Death Magnetic. In other words terrible.

Meanwhile Megadeth winning.

JUST

>New Metallica album
>2016
>awful track names, album title (ManUNkind being the most egregious), and MS paint level artwork
>garbage production and generic riffage
>follow-up to Lulu
>Lars Ulrich

Well, it might be worth a laugh or two.

perfect title, it gives you a good idea on what it's success will be like

>worked on SOAD's s/t

well, at least he has ONE good thing in it

Can't wait to hear Lars fuck this up live

Beginnier's luck

DO YOU HEAR THAT SOUND

DM and 13 sound horrible, but Repentless had a great sound despite being a boring record

Please tell me that's not the official cover art

inb4 this album art becomes a meme

It really didn't.

ok

It is. I'm so happy.
When I was scrolling through their site and came across the cover, I laughed until I was crying.
This needs to be a meme.

I can't lie to you...

Christ, that album cover looks like shit

what the fuck
what the everloving fuck

>hey we need a cover for this thing, who has a 13 year old with GIMP on his computer?

They need to find Flemming Rasmussen again

He's probably cringing at the compression on the drums and the lackluster guitar tone desu

The song composition wise wasn't that good either. Sad because I kind of liked DM's composition, but hated the mix.

5/10

it already has the just hair on it and everything

lel

...

Ah, so that's why Vol. 3 sounded like shit

...

They don't give a single fuck anymore. Money will come to them either way. And the fans will defend this.

I cannot even comprehend why they chose to make such an ugly cover

It's because all the attempts to reinvent themselves since the s/t album failed, so they just went back to writing bland arena rock songs that fans will continue to praise.

>s/t album failed
You mean Black Album? It's their most praised record to date and probably the best selling one

Cliff didn't die for this...

>JUST FUCK MY WHOLE ALBUM UP SENPAI

Song is too samey. There's no dynamics or variation. The same riff over and over. And they're trying to force the edge so hard that they forgot to let the song breathe.
What the fuck, James?

>literally has the JUST FUCK MY SHIT UP hair without any edits needed
holy fuck

my lord

squad goals

lol, that was one of the early examples of a metal record getting completely and utterly crushed
that was when the loudness war started to totally jump the shark, thanks to hacks like him

>double fucking CD
W...why?

Is it safe to say Rick Rubin is one of the worst things to happen to mainstream rock?

i just went back to listen to it and yeah you're somewhat right, but some songs like mind still have some dynamic range

at least it's not as compressed as DM

It's not Rick, it's that Greg Fidelman guy

I honestly think it's kind of cool.

They have some overlap, which is how I made the mistake.

It sounds like James tried to write a slipknot song

He's The Simpsons of music producers.

what does this even mean?

lol

you guys are fuddy-duddies this song rocks!!

Metallica has been stale for over 20 years

Even their prime during the mid 80s isn't even close to the best heavy/thrash/speed metal

Just end it

Is it just me or are there no drum fills in the whole song?

>SOMEONE WHO ACTIVELY DESPAAHSES YOU

>Be huge Metallica fan since youth
>First album I remembered all of the lyrics to was Ride the Lighting
>I like other bands, but none like 'Tallica
>Been waiting on new shit since Death Magnetic
>rockisn'tdead.jpg
>Hear this

I don't know why I still had hope, but this kind of killed it. I honestly think the best thing for them is to hang it up. They could have done an epic farewell tour where they played only their old shit. They could have died heroes. Why are we here? Just to suffer?

It's fucking Lars. Listening to Memektor and this is a fucking world of difference.

>I AM THE ROOT

>Lars
>drum fills
lol

> I AM A TABBBBBBBLE!

shit i thought of the same thing

Lars is the biggest douchebag I have ever seen

It's an indictment on the rest of the band that they would willingly be friends with such a person

It would be one thing if he was a good drummer but if I was in that band he would have gotten the boot long ago

We'll always have the memories

youtube.com/watch?v=qjAhgd9K-8o

A shadow of its former self that has gone on for far too long, coasting along on reputation and legacy alone with an assembly line of canned, aggressively average work.
He basically just shows up to the studio, sits on a couch and tells the band which takes to use.

the song is alright, but doesnt sound any different than death magnetic.

>this fucking cover art
jesus.

>thinking you can fire the guy in charge

>james will never do hardcore side project with some good drummer

His rhythm is terribly wasted on Lars. Same with any of the bassists.

That's what I don't get, the guy is just some little troll person and they just submit to him

He isn't even alpha or anything, he's such a whiny little twat

Jason is the only one who had any balls and they kicked him out because of it

>that Little Wing cover
J U S T

>this shit will be worse than Dystopia
RIP Metallica, you lived for too long

I can't imagine how bad Metallica covering a song like Little Wing must be

I won't watch it

What is it about Metallica nowadays? They're trying so hard to sound like they did in the 80s and they've managed to copy some of it on the surface level but there's something about the riffs that just sounds completely off.

Didn't Corey Taylor confirm that that's exactly what he does?

The riff is basically just chugging a root note and then you play an interval. It's not very interesting, but it sounds thrashy.

No Cliff Burton and no leftover Mustaine songs to use
