I get overrated...

I get overrated, but why do a lot of Sup Forumstants seem personally and obsessively committed to denying any good in any part of Queen's music, even if it's just for guilty pleasure? I know it's officially because reddit and their fanbase but of all the bands that Sup Forums feigns dislike of on that basis the reaction to Queen is truly on another level. It's not just not liking them, it's seeing them as symbolic of something existentially negative.

Oh hello there reddit

...

It's just a seriously forced shitty meme

Night at the Opera is an absolute fave of mine especially 39 and Prophets Song

t. reddit
You did it, Reddit!

Thank god we have another thread about this shit.

I think it's an old meme or something. They were doing this a long time ago too.

They are not a 'bad' band, but I don't consider them a good one either. ELO was probably the better example of that style of rock.

In general, they are a singles band. And they do have really good singles, but the cheese overdose is too much for me if I listen to them for more than 10 minutes.

Look, reddit!

>is another reddit needs to have his opinion validated by Sup Forums episode

Just fuck my shit up

t. never listened to anything but Radio Gaga and maybe one or two albums cuts from their early stuff

the only reason you made this post so that people would reply with "this" or sometihng

Bro, the standouts of their first 3 or 4 albums were deep cuts.

they suck, forever and always

I've only listened to a Night at the Opera, and their hit singles outside that album.
What I heard wasn't good, to my ears, so I didn't dig deeper.

Well, for the little I've heard, my impressions are the opposite.
Seaside Rendezvous? I'm In Love with my Car? Jesus fuck, they're horrible.

Again, I don't hate them, but I'm definitely not a fan

>Hating Seaside Rendezvous
Do you hate When I'm 64 and Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon too? Do you have a heart?

the only reason you made this post is becuse you're butthurt as fuck lel.

Queen is a greatest hits band, their albums are mediocre as fuck. Wrong generation band on top of that.

>wrong generation meme
is it still 2011? do people still care about little kids in the youtube comment section now?

>implying you weren't one of them

I can tell that you're about 15 and desperately trying to fit into here

Sup Forums gets triggered if anyone listens to singles instead of albums because autism

This.

I can tell you're butthurt and running out of insults.

What are you doing to do next? Link me to Sup Forums?

>Sup Forums memer
that explains it desu

What fucking insults? What are you talking about?

Okay but even still by that measure, that vast majority of what they made was utter shit, and even their best stuff is *not really that good*

They're a hammy, bad representation of a genre that's not very good to begin with. Total cornball bullshit.

I think I haven't head those.
Which album/year user?
Oddly enough, I can stomach ELO better. I still can't stand listening to a whole album, but they're fine in small doses.

>he actually did it

youre trying to fit in again

Nice you got here reddit.

First three albums are okay, actually. Unpretentious prog rock with flashes of brilliance (Flick of the Wrist is GOAT).

Their pop stuff is unlistenably bad, though, OP. You have to know this. You HAVE to. This is not reactionary. The bafflement of people praising this trash to the moon is tertiary to it all.

>I must have the last word.
>I must show him

whatever reddit this thread is shit anyways. Queen is a pleb band. Even more pleb than the beatles.

>Oddly enough, I can stomach ELO better.
That's because ELO were a 70s soft rock version of The Beatles
When I'm 64 is from the beatles (duh) and the other one is from night at the opera

all of their music is pop you retard and its great even the later stuff has great stuff (the game is actually my most played Queen album somehow)

youre so obviously a crossposter from pol

What's your favorite album

I dislike Queen too, but you're a salty bitch.
Fuck off.

>Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon is from NatO
Huh, I didn't remember that song.
It's ok I guess. But none of their song 'reach' me. Too overblown and pompous, they feel too plastic.

>ELO was a soft rock version of the Beatles
Jeff Lynne had a raging boner for them, but I really don't see them as soft rock. Soft Rock is stiff like Fleetwood Mac. ELO was more akin to proggy pop during their prime.

Queen made pop songs that weren't necessarily compositionally adventurous, and (perhaps more importantly) at least in retrospect, they are much more a "singles band" than, say, Pink Floyd or King Crimson. Same reason this board writes off bands like Aerosmith or GnR.

>Too overblown and pompous
That's the point of Queen. They KNOW they're making music like that. You just don't wake up one day and write a song like that without knowing it sounds campy.

>Soft Rock is stiff like Fleetwood Mac
False. Anything from early "proggy pop" Elton John to "proggy pop" Supertramp can and will be soft rock.

I'm not shitting on ELO either they're one of my favourite guitar pop bands.

>compositionally adventurous
Name another rock song that sounds like Bohemian Rhapsody before it. The closest you will get is One Night in Paris by 10cc and Sparks - This Town Ain't Big Enough for Both of Us

Somehow i get the feeling you're the guy that has been spamming Sam Hyde threads these past few hours

I know it's the entire point behind their music, but that doesn't mean I'm going to be able to enjoy it.

As for for pop prog being soft rock, I don't agree. To me, soft rock is all about lacking distortion, lots of acoustic guitar and like, well, Fleetwood. I kinda see it with Supertramp, definitely with Elton. Not as much in ELO.

I mean even if that's the point of what they're doing, it's a bad point. Just because it was their intention to make that style of music doesn't redeem the style.

I know that they knew what they were doing. It's still not good though.
