I live in a real fuckin tiny southern town, population of 900. I literally live in the middle of a corn field.
I really like it. Everyone knows each other and cares about you, even if it's just a little bit.
Church every sunday, fresh local produce, everyone is super hospitable, 90% christian, no liberals or feminists.
Family get-togethers (southern cooking), local art festivals, fishing, hunting, etc.
I'm making it sound a little romanticized, but it really is pretty nice.
In regards to america as a whole yes dry counties are rare but fairly common in southern areas a holdover from more religious times. I live in North Dakota and no business is allowed to open before 12pm on Sunday so people have time to go to church which is a similar type of law
NYC, Cali and the south have all the cool stereotypes, everywhere else is just shopping malls and nasal accents
