I remember when the banjo was the instrument of choice for middle class white folks who wanted to be quirky and different.
Banjo's got a heck of a lot more potential than the ukelele. Thing is, with the banjo, once you grow up you can transfer those skills over to music that doesn't suck.

• use the case to carry valuables as nobody will want to steal it
• hide small valuable items inside uke for same reason

I will say one positive about the uke.
It's a relatively easy instrument to build so if you ever want to get into instrument making, it's a good place to start.

It is. I'm an avid uke player and I'll admit it. I play tenor and baritone uke.
I'm a bassist/pianist, I can't play guitar because it has six strings and I'm a fucking retard (bar chords make me suicidal), so ukulele is a nice substitute for when I want to play something nice or whip up someone a song. Normies eat that shit up.
