Is using でござる in speech equivilant to using thou/thee in English, or is it not that archaic?

What's it like using thou/thee in English?
Is it like using ござる in Japanese?

Sup Forums

You only need to take it once in High School (Grade 9) and while I absolutely aced it French Canadians are absolutely subhuman so I haven't used it much and have forgotten most of what I knew. I still recognize SOME French and can occasionally make sense of a French phrase but I could never hold an actual conversation in Francais.
And most English Canadians are the same as me, it's probably a rather small percentage of our population that is French bilingual (and a larger portion that is Mandarin/Cantonese bilingual)

Can you learn to read Japanese without learning to speak it?

Also what's a good iOS kanji app for fast memorization? Right now I'm using one called "Japanese" and I've finished the maximum 50 that it quizzes you on. I figured it's best to get a good number of kanji down to test my dedication before going hardcore into grammar.

Yeah fuck you too buddy.
French genocide best day of my life.

日本語の文法は後からのんびり覚えていけば良い。

>Can you learn to read Japanese without learning to speak it?
What kind of question is that? How would you learn a language in written but not verbal form?
Since quite a bit of kanji are pronounced differently depending on their use in a word or a sentence, it's pretty much impossible to learn to write it without being able to speak it as well.
One example that comes to mind would be 人 (person/human) - it's pronounced hito on its own, but when added at the end of other kanji like for example 日本人, it changes to -jin (in this case, the full word is nihonjin, Japanese person.)

So short answer: no, you can't.

>Getting that angry at this

Chill the fuck out.

Yeah that's pretty much what I did. I read well but all awkward when it comes to speaking.

日本語だとやけに月を表す言葉が多い理由とか
あるんだよね、月の満ち欠けほとんど全部に言葉が割り当てられてたりするんだよ。

ちなみに理由は平安時代くらい昔の男女間の逢い引きが理由、月が出てる時に夜這いに行ったから。
月が出てれば夜明るくて移動出来るからね、そいで意中の女性の寝室に行って一晩明かすんだよ。
意中の女性が多い人は・・・・日替わりだぞw

>it's pronounced hito on its own
In general, kanji has two pronunciations which called "音読み" & "訓読み".
Also "音読み" don't combine with "訓読み".

But I think that we can learn to use only book(if you learn to ''hiragana'' and that pronounce).
Because I am deaf but I learn hiragana pronounce and I read ''kanji'' book with ''furigana(hiragana)'',so I was be able to learn Japanese(but sometime I mistake diffcult kanji pronounce).

>So short answer: no, you can't.
Of course you can, I mean most people can read manga way before being able to hold a conversation (real, not a phrasebooky one)
DJT basically only learns to read Japanese

What's DJT?

...

I think that thease Japanese are used in familiar person and friend(but ''manko''and so on never use except famillar boy person who can talkblue joke) ,so it's need to learn ''teineikei'' and formal Japanese first.

Do Japanese drink coffee in the morning?

Moshi moshi

I need a graphic logo rendered in katakana and the English alphabet. For example, I want my graphic logo to say "Apple" and 「アップル」but stylized like the Coca-Cola typeface... Who is more appropriate for this professional task? A Japanese graphic designer or any competent graphic designer who doesn't necessarily read Japanese?

Yes, Japanese like coffee very much. Japanese drink coffee in the morning.

Since you'd almost certainly need to get that logo done from scratch (I doubt there exists a typeface in katakana that mimics Coca-Cola's style) you can probably just go with any designer who can pull it off.
