The other day we had a thread on criminals in the music world, and I decided to make a basic chart as an entry-point to criminal musicians. It's by no means all-encompassing, but here it is. As a rule I've only added people who were actually convicted of a crime, or who were definitely responsible (such as Gesualdo or Meek).

Guide:
>1. Child abuse (inc. child porn convictions)
>2-4. Murder and manslaughter
>5-6. Assaults (inc. sexual assaults)
>7. Weapons offences
>8. Thievery (incl. tax evasion)
>9. Drug offences resulting in prison sentences

If anyone needs any info on why I've included any of these don't hesitate to ask

The Bobby Beausoleil album is great
Good job op

Is Rolf Harris good

what's the story on Freak Out and STFTB

>Freak Out
Mothers' bassist Roy Estrada has twice been convicted of child sexual assault charges. First in 1994 he was sentenced to six years in prison for committing lewd acts with a child. The second in 2012 was in relation to incidents in 2008 where he was convicted of continued sexual abuse of a child. He is serving 25 years in prison and is not eligible for parole.
>STFTB
Michael Gira spent four and a half months in an adult prison in Israel for selling drugs. He was 15 at the time of sentencing and 16 when he was released.

Housemartins and Meat Puppets?

>Housemartins
Drummer Hugh Whitaker spent 6 years in jail for attacking a business associate who had cheated him out of money with an axe in addition to setting fire to his house on 3 separate occasions
>Meat Puppets
Bassist Cris Kirkwood spent 21 months in prison after assaulting a security guard with his own baton following an argument with a woman over a parking space

>He was 15 at the time of sentencing and 16 when he was released.
>Israeli prison
jesus, that's gotta fuck a person up...

He's said himself that although he was largely left alone as he was an American citizen there were arab lads in there who were routinely attacked and raped and that he saw or heard them near on every night. I've always assumed a lot of Michael's work was influenced by those 4 months.

>Love and McCartney?

>Love
Arthur Lee was sentenced to 12 years in prison for negligent discharge of a firearm. This was because of California's three-strike laws meaning he had to serve prison time for his third offence after two previous charges for assault and drugs.

On a side note, Bobby Beausoleil who is mentioned in the murder section was an early member of Love when they were still The Grass Roots
>Paul McCartney
In 1980 during a Wings tour in Japan, police found 200g of cannabis in McCartney's luggage. He spent 10 days in jail and was deported..

it's kinda hilarious how strictly japan criminalizes weed, yet possession of child pornography wasn't made illegal until 2014

Wait, the writer of Buyer's Market was actually into sexual child abuse and shit?

Damn

>200g of cannabis

a man can dream...

Only sort of. He probably wasn't into it, but he was found guilty of possession of child porn after putting it on the front cover of his publication Pure.

In a slightly cheesy way, yes

Add Freddie Gibbs

He dindu nuffin mane!
He's not been convicted of anything yet, so he's not on the list.

2014? That's fucked up

I didn't know some of the backgrounds of these artists. Looked into Michael Gira and read some interesting interviews. I'll have to check this out later and find out more about some of these artists.
Fun chart, should add the guide onto it somewhere, though.

George Michael?

What about him?

I've just put the row guide on it.
I'm not going to be able to fit all the info on it though unfortunately

Don't know if this is serious enough, just a bit of light cottaging.

Yeah, just the row guide is what I meant. Looks great. Have some of these backlogged, I'm gonna give them a listen. Again, cool chart.

Charles Cohen
>In September 2015, Cohen was arrested and charged with crimes including criminal attempt of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16.[23]

where's grimes lol
bluestockingsmag.com/2013/07/24/see-you-on-a-dark-night-grimes-oblivion-depicting-sexual-assault/

did you actually read it or

A bit of cottaging never hurt anyone

No SPM or C murder?

SPM is top row, 6th from left
There's a lot I didn't include in the murder section because it was getting very big, C-Murder being one of them
