>entirely guitar based >experimental >acoustic direction in some tracks >ambient and drone also treated >all the samples and sounds exclusively made with the guitar
Headphones recommended for a more detailed rendition. Feedbacks are really appreciated.
Love this one question tho, I'm pretty new to producing so I'm wondering if you're using real instruments or are those some really good samples/plugins?
Joseph Edwards
thanks man! i don't use any plugins these are all real instruments. check out the rest of my new album where i used 2 or 3 synths and drums, guitar and bass.

i wanna she how badly my mix offends your ear pls listen to mine

hey could you please tell me what you think of my mixing on my recent album? i have a lot to learn about mixing vocals but I'm proud of how i mixed synths and bass. considering studying audio engineering at college. have any tips?
This is a cool sounding track. I think it does sound awfully dry especially on the percussion. Maybe space it out with some reverb or room reverb even just slightly. Pan some of your percussive elements off to the side a bit. Maybe also a filter delay on the crash cymbal with a long reverb (it's more of a creative choice.) It could use with some droning bass fundamentals, to fill out the low end more. That might be an opportunity for you to right a sort of progressive bassline that is in the same key but is doing it's own thing in the track.
I think you know where things should sit in the mix. I would again suggest adding some reverb. You should bring up everything in the mix. Keep bass centered. Maybe more reverb on the vocals. The guitar that comes in with the reverb is an awesome idea, and you should elaborate that sense of space with the other elements. The synth that sweeps up and down, put some delay on that bitch. Make use of the stereo field with your harmonies, you may yield a result that is better. I would avoid panning things hard left or right. I know what you're trying to go for, the old 60/70's sound which is fine, but you're stereo field is imbalanced by the drums and bass being on one side and everything else on the other.
I can't really complain about this. A lot of what I would suggest would be creative points over actual engineering tips. I'd encourage you to push the master a bit and make it a tad louder. Maybe try pushing the claps and kick up a bit and see how it feels. On a creative note- maybe add some atmospherics if you can. Absynth/Omnisphere have a good arsenal of atmospheric vibes that you can easily implement. It would suit the mood of the track. Good job~!
I can't really comment too much on this. (A = Retry) (B = Give Up) Has some good composition but it's missing layers and interest. The core elements so far are perfect but they need to be elaborated upon with something else. (perhaps percussion?) The mix is fine but there isn't much to critique in terms of the mix.
Immediate reccs: (oi, nice music, like really nice) (damn your releasing music fast) how2fix my music? Is it acceptable for having made music for little over a year?

>dry especially on the percussion lol nice catch i almost had the drums done by a drum machine that had no effects on it at all. thanks for the time bro!
Really interesting stuff! :) following you now! Keep doing songs, i like that you have a lot of sounds, there is just some notes that don't fit some times (imo) Really smooth :) like it, keep making music

Thanks for the feedback, which notes do you mean don't fit?
I really like your song! Awesome use of vocal sampling/chopping. I would say that it should end with more of a climax though, like maybe a heavier drum bit or something? I was expecting it to go into a dnb-ish bit near the end
Oliver Rogers
Thanks i will point out in your comments in soundcloud. Yes maybe I'm going to turn it in to a dnb?! nice idea!

People should listen to this guy.
