Will someone explain what makes this such a good album? Or is it just the Sup Forums rap starter pack for people who have no idea what they're talking about? He has pretty average flow and lyrics, the beats are boring, and he struggles to make a song longer than 2 mintutes. If you like this album you should kill yourself
Will someone explain what makes this such a good album...
it cuts out pretty much all the filler of a normal rap album. If you've ever listened to The Commerical Album by the Residents, they made the whole album with one minute songs that felt like a full song because they cut out the extra shit. In this album, you don't need more than 1-2 minutes to get the idea of a song, lyrical premise, and the feel of an instrumental to the listener
What makes your favorite rap album good? I bet you gave this album one listen and came here to express your shit opinion, Kys loser start a meaningful thread instead baiting.
This, unironically.
This album is like the Bazinga t-shirt of hip hop.
It's a good album because he has what is likely the best flow of any rapper, amazing lyrics, incredible beats courtesy of one of the greatest producers in rap (Madlib), and even the shorter songs draw you in and are incredibly memorable.
>pretty average flow
You're not even trying.
>morbidly obese black guy obsessed with food huffing and puffing reddit tier nerd rap references in my face for an hour
GET MORE CHEESE THAN DORITOS FRITOS OR CHEETOS UHUHUHUH
A COUPLE APPLE PIES AND A SMALL FRY AYOOOOO (AYO)
It's not that great many other rappers have better or just as good flow. I can see how it was good for 2004 but it he has no appeal and his songs all sound the same
What makes his flow is his impeccable rhyme scheme. Other rappers still can't rhyme like him and you can't have one without the other for Doom.
I can understand not liking his lyrics or sound but his flow is something else.
Dirty samples that feel non commercial yet accessible enough for anyone.
hi-larious lyrics about comic books to let you know that not all rappers are just thugs.
A wacky identity that goes against the egocentric mainstream
don't forget that you probably heard some of the songs on adult swim bumps so you can be nostalgic for the early 2000s too.
flow is rhythm. you can have all the rhyme schemes in the world and still have bad flow. multisyllabic rapping was pretty popular in the early 2000s and a lot of rapper have pushed it to even stupider degrees than doom if that's the kind of thing you're into.
beats / wordplay are top notch
>implying that good threads start with the OP
lol fag
flow is one of mf dooms weaknesses desu
this desu. his flow is just flat out strange. he's always slightly off beat, going over to the next bar with lines, etc
it all works for the style, and his lyrics are impeccable but i wouldn't count flow as his one of his best attributes
slip like Freudian is such a shit line I hate it
Youre a faggot I can name 20 rappers with better wordplay but because this guy talks bout comic books he gets labeled god tier, pathetic.
>b- b-but muh internal rhymes!
>muh rap game James Joyce!
With the exception of maybe Aesop Rock, Doom is like the Dream Theater of hip hop; all technical skill and no soul.
People hype him up because the nerd rap comic book gimmick, which is just cheap and lame as hell. The guy is like fifty years old wearing a Halloween mask.
ITT: contrarians trying to be cool
Maybe if he uses that moment when he goes outside the rhythm to say something interesting.
But I get why people like him but I don't like him all that much. His millions of personas are all the same, and musically it all is kind of bland. he does the same thing with every album and persona, and at one point you just want lyrics and beats to connect with, not some comic book whatever crap.
If you want great beats, listen to the CunninLynguists.
If you want stream of consciousness, try Atmosphere or Buck 65.
If you want weird things and references, try Dr. Octagon or Deltron.
If you want weird or unconvential flows, try Aesop Rock or Pharoahe Monch.
What are people looking for when they are listening to MF DOOM?
Impeccable instrumentation, matched with DOOM's clever and thoughtful wordplay, makes this album very easy to get lost in.
It's a good album, whether you like it or not. But if you don't like it you have bad taste :)
He only gets praised because he's underground. Your probably the same people who hate on eminem or kendrick when they both have better wordplay and flow, and beats
Everyone praises his lyrics but I don't even think he's really rapping about anythihg. Sounds like a. Bunch of random words that rhyme well together.
>different opinion than me
>CONTRARIAN
End this meme.
I'm to leave depart this post in my jalopy.
I'm from the rich white kid part of town but I took a job as a pizza man in the ghetto. I drive around getting mad respect from niggers in flat caps when I blast all caps.
