Listen to your library, show off your backlog, babble about new music, stop editing the OP dammit, be at peace with /rym/, try not to have another existential crisis, and just let the good times flow.
No. But this is a cool blog I got lotsa pics from: jazzinphoto.wordpress.com/ Just go to index and pick a musician and see cool photos. What have you heard and what did you think of it? Do you listen to or like any other jazz? Some pretty cool stuff there yes yes.

Just got through Waits today.
Consistant shit as always, but my biggest problem is how it was formatted. Basically, just had a few problems with how it was formated. In case you didn't know, "Orphans" is a three hour album split into three discs: Brawlers (Blues and Rock oriented), Bawlers (Downbeat somewhat Country-ish songs) & Bastards (more experimental pieces). Basically the three forms of Waits split into three different albums. However, I think grouping all these very solid songs together by their mood kind of misses the mark of what I love about a lot of Waits' work, being that it's occasionally very eclectic and all over the place. By grouping the same sort of songs together, the style starts to wear easily.
However, this is very solid and I would have a hard time finding many tracks I disliked.
I'll get started on this tourney before September starts mark my words.
lmao give everything a 2

Jesus Christ some time in the future someone will go full Ricardo on Grimes and actually kills her and Sup Forums will be fucking dead. Screen cap this.

If Dogwander doesn't give a rec in a week I might give the spot to someone who wants it. Expect me to start in the next few days.
>but my biggest problem is how it was formatted. Basically, just had a few problems with how it was formated.
I should probably proofread shit before I post it jesus christ. I didn't even spell "formatted" correctly the second time.

every artist was given the name of a recently extinct species to base their section on. some artists went as far as to write a full essay accompanying their set. the album's consistently good, and never really grows stale despite the run time. note the rodriguez approved™ 5

Anybody wanna recommend a record? I will: consider your recommendation.

Matthew Morgan
i'm gonna go ahead and say that you like jazz have you heard Joe McPhee - Nation Time?
i dont know if youre into free jazz but check out this chart i made with all of Actuel's releases, famous for recording lots of free jazz that was getting ignored in the US at the time during 1969-1971, plus a few psychedelic/free improv artists here and there. got some highlights like archie shepp, don cherry, sun ra, and gong.
Jacob Johnson
I don't think so. Didn't really think of it till you mentioned...
Daniel Parker
fela kuti - expensive shit
back up rec: keiji haino - koko
Anthony Davis
Thank you nice chart and yes I have heard Joe McPhee even though I am not very big into jazz. But every once in a while I love me some Miles Davis like pic related. Very funky and great I think you will dig it if you liked nation time. o i c
Michael Sanchez
it's great isn't it? i wish i could get a kroket in copenhagen
Benjamin Williams
oh aight, suspected you'd be more into jazz seeing that you go by miles davis. have you seen this performance of his? it's by far his best
cookin' is my favorite miles album, but i'll be sure to check that out, been going through some of his stuff recently.
Nolan Bailey
it's full. I'm not even sure i'll find a dl link for all these albums.
Gavin Gray
Money!
His early stuff with Gil Evans other than Sketches of Spain is also worth a try, check out Porgy & Bess if you haven't already. Also, his live records from '64 and '65. Miles in Berlin for example is quite entertaining, featuring his second quintet for the first time I think, they play some stuff miles had been playing before for a long time, and they do it quite confidentially and working very good as a group. Plus a bunch of the songs are played faster than they usually are.
Thomas Campbell
thread is dead so lets do something post your favorite genres based on last 100 ratings and guess who it is

It was Cocteau Twins - The Spangle Maker (herb kid) vs My Bloody Valentine - Tremolo (Dam's Jans). Both good, I couldn't advance one over the other again. Rec tiebreaker SINGLES now and you better kill the goddamn tie this time.
Current bets: 1) Terminus (Terminus, herb kid) 2) Dam's Jans (Transgod) 3) Tuco (Tuco) 4) herb kid (Rodriguez, ruggles) 5) I'M FISH (Jangle&Bojangle)
Luis Diaz
wow i predicted them all correctly again i haven't heard tuco's thing but ive seen it get jerked around a lot so idk who will win there... i'll wait till dam's jans wins already and predict semi final wins
Jason Gray
you did NOT predict them correctly last time, it was 6/8
Adam Turner
Still need recs from Jangle&Bojangle aka PIGGER Anonymousé Benny Profane Natkingcole
Can be any of the genres from the first round (so not the decades). Any genre can be claimed multiple times, so nothing is 'taken' yet.
Cool chart, can't wait for your shit opinions and three word reviews.
Black Saint Ah Um Oh Yeah If you don't like any of those, just stop listening to music.
@@@@@RUDI >tfw up against Chopin John Handy - Live at the Monterey Jazz Festival (Modal Jazz)

>surprise drug tests at work That's brutal. I believe It's a human rights violation here in Canada unless it impairs your safety (ie. breathalyzer for driving, etc).
More hard bop from Coltrane’s Garland/Chambers/Taylot lineup. Here they cover three popular non-jazz songs in bebop style, as well as a Jackie McLean cover. The compositions are mostly enjoyable and paced well, with the exception of the dragging ‘Little Melonae’.
This album features an increase in accentuating individual musicians through extended solos, but it always remains that only one or two musicians are worth paying attention to at a given time. This focus is usually juggled between Coltrane and Garland, which gets a tad tireless after a while (especially Track 3).
Taylor’s drums are usually simplistic and subdued, and just there to keep time. The bass is on point, but seldom a focal point and at it’s best provides pleasant comping. Paul Chambers arco solo intonation on Track 1 is terrible; very scratchy and thin sound, and not in an ‘expressive and unique’ way. Garland experiences more time in the spotlight on this album, where he performs quite well but clams up when he’s not centre stage.
Highlight track is Rise N Shine, where the drumming and comping are both kicked up a notch, complimented with stellar playing from Coltrane.
