Here's Fare Forward Voyagers (Soldier's Choice) by John Fahey. Folk with some eastern influencies, absolutely incredible playing and incredible songwriting. One of my absolute favorites. Song names come from T.S. Eliot poems.

I’m going to share ten albums I really like. I think all of these are either not in the archive or have dead links—my apologies if I fuck up and post an album that already has a working link, though. I’ll probably post some requests at the end.
Okay so here’s

Admas – Sons of Ethiopia (African Heritage Records, 1984. Re-released in 2016 on Frederiksberg Records.) [320.]

>amazing African diasporic synth jams recorded in DC in the 80s.
>very groovy and catchy and kinda minimal too

Sample: youtube.com/watch?v=mMGBvsYD1t0
Download: mega.nz/#!4Ft0DRTS!TUOaEx1sDX0MqrDiwF0lsfxg_pMSh_eHBq4INgaiB7o

I'm making one for some Korean post-rock, but while that uploads, here's a bootleg of original songs from Rick and Morty. Get Schwifty, m'lads.
>Rick and Morty OST, adult swimcore
mega.nz/#F!Is9xSK4C!PgatP2mlCYSsvg4kBp9-zg

Bob Martin – Midwest Farm Disaster (RCA Victor, 1972. Re-released in 2007 on Riversong.) [192. Sorry everyone, couldn’t find this in anything better... if anyone happens to have better quality, please replace this share.]

>Sad country rock, with moments of humor interspersed, like the song about a town called “Frog Dick, South Dakota.”
>incredible songwriting and vocals
>Kind of an unassuming album but the more you listen to it, the more it digs into your soul

Sample: youtube.com/watch?v=DS1wfIkYAdw
Download: mega.nz/#!EIthUT5a!0dJPYyvFEAiD7ILZSu8c0t0Ytu7c7eYnP4yBD8n88fI

Chino Amobi – Airport Music for Black Folk (NON WORLDWIDE, 2016.) [320]

>NON WORLDWIDE, fragments of club music, musique concrete, sort of an inversion of Eno’s music for airports, I guess.

Sample: youtube.com/watch?v=Lzk5rnvRQ60
Download: mega.nz/#!BFETlJIb!wj_E0WqeKjwA6BSEsAPgRgPmm58uK5BRJgzlk5PXOCc

(check em btw)
Dip in the Pool – Retinae (Moon Records, 1989.) [320]

>Japanese artpop
>not quite as minimal or deconstructed as Silence, the other album I’ve heard by this band, but still very good.
>some label released two tracks from this album as a single this year. I forget who it was.

Sample: youtube.com/watch?v=5ASt2cHHgcw

Dusty Springfield – Dusty In Memphis (Atlantic, 1969.) [320]

>Soul
>It’s Dusty Springfield. You should have this. Really fucking good.
>You wouldn’t know she was British, especially on this album because as the title implies, she recorded it in Memphis with some veterans of the soul scene.

label was Music From Memory

GOAT label

sorry, forgot the cover. here is is

This is me, while the Korean post-rock uploads, I'm requesting The Fruit Will Rot Vol. 3. I'd prefer all three parts, but I'll take anything. The link in the archive only has 1/3 of part 3.

Francois Tusques and Don Cherry - La Maison Fille Du Soleil (Studio Scriptone Nantes, 1965. Re-released in 2014 on Cacophonic.) [320]

>Free jazz 7”. Not as wild and chaotic as some of the other recordings featuring these players.
>Also cool because how often do you see free jazz 7-inches? Just two tracks, about 8 minutes total.
>Could be my stupid ears but I feel like Francois Tusques’s piano parts sound inspired by Satie or someone like that. Really minor-key, eerie shit.

ohh yeah absolutely right. they are pretty damn GOAT-- they put out a lot of good stuff

(check em again lol)
Janek Schaefer – Lay-by Lullaby (12k, 2014)
>drone, ambient music with field recordings of cars
>we’re-destroying-the-planet-core
>some of schaefer’s work is a lot more explicitly doom and gloom with regards to technology’s effects on the environment, but this is one album where everything seems to be in a kind of harmony, even if it’s also really fucking sad

Sample: youtube.com/watch?v=1pQxqp2yw4Q
Download: mega.nz/#!BBVEEYiQ!aE1owEA1ifW6O7MB5Y-TUzagbqP0Gua2njHoyFqNkJ4

Magda – She’s a Dancing Machine (M_nus, 2006) [320]

>techno, dj mix. Not too serious
>idk, this just fucking rips. One of my favorite dj mixes ever. A ton of fun.

HOOPS - HOOPS EP (2016)

please, anyone?

And once again am requesting Volume 3 of The Fruit Will Rot
This is also me

Yoshio Ojima – Club (FGW, 1983) [320]
>Japanese instrumental artpop, sampling
>Way way way ahead of its time… some inexplicable hip-hop bangers??
>Beautiful and childlike but not in a shitty way
>one of my favorite albums ever. try if you like hiroshi yoshimura, maybe?

Alright, that’s all. I’m requesting:
>Swimful – Pm2.5
>Luis Cilia - A Regra Do Fogo
as well as your cherished /classical/ recordings, any composer, any era. Trying to become less of a pleb about classical music but always worry too much about finding the “right” recording of any given piece
320kbps preferred but I’ll take anything desu

what the fuck i did not type the word "desu" at the end of this post lol. does Sup Forums filter the abbreviation for "to be honest" to desu?

...

sorry man, i just lurk way more than i post so i don't notice shit like that very often

Nah I'm just fucking with you, I figured it out yesterday.

A two disc comp called More Better days of late 70's Japanese jazzy, proto-electronic, funky, easy, proggy, avant pop scene got released last month but I can't find a link ANYWHERE.

If someone has this that would be awesome. Yasuaki Shimizu and Mariah's stuff from that scene is stellar.

>summer

Yesterday was the first time I used t b h in a post is all

I'm looking because this sounds cool, but not having any luck. It's not on soulseek and it's kind of hard to google for blogspots with that name. Maybe someone could check on what

>Dusty In Memphis

Such a great album. The only other one I've heard by her is A Girl Called Dusty. Do you recommend any others?

It's really difficult to even google this album. Maybe we'll have better look by including the compiler Chee Shimizu? I can't believe that an album reviewed by Pitchfork and given really good review at that is so damn difficult to find. Here is a 10/10 from the same scene to hold over until the comp can be found:

Mariah - Utakata No Hibi
>70's Japanese / Armenian jazzy, proto-electronic, funky, easy, proggy, avant pop

Sample: youtube.com/watch?v=iRgLhEGEetc
Download: mega.nz/#!XRF1wDJS!VIcKrauthN9KRGXWEfiKzBINOf5GC6mhcxyuyqfhQ3s

None of her others sound like that. She came to America and went to Memphis and cut a Memphis soul record. Her next album A Brand New Me she did the same thing in Philly but the band and the songs aren't as good. Still a great album but not on the level of Memphis.

Dusty... Definitely
Too bad I have the Dusty In Memphis '99 edition with 14 bonus tracks but it's encoded in 160kbps :S
Also, check Dionne Warwick's 1963-65 albums, she is amazing too!

no luck finding the compilation through chee shimizu's name... bummer. thanks for the share!

thanks for the tip. i'll give a brand new me a listen because why not. i don't really know much about the philly soul scene and i feel like that's a mistake

i'm listening to some dionne warwick now and it's pretty awesome. thanks for the recommendation!

So the compilation was supposed to come out towards the end of July, but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy it legally even if I wanted to. I wonder if something delayed the release and the reason we can't find a copy is because it's not out yet?

that sounds really interesting, considering the tracklisting:

Disc 1: Avant-Wave
01. Yasuaki Shimizu - Semitori No Hi
02. Mariah - Shonen
03. Mkwaju Ensemble - Tira-Rin
04. Akira Sakata - Meuniere
05. Colored Music - Ei Sei Raku
06. Paradigm Shift - P.S.
07. Yasuaki Shimizu - Yume Dewa
08. Mkwaju Ensemble - Wood Dance
09. Colored Music - Heartbeat
10. Pecker - Kylyn
11. Atsuo Fujimoto's Beat Jazz - Strangers In Island
12. Mariah - Shinzo No Tobira
13. Kazumi Watanabe - Mother Terra
14. Ryuichi Sakamoto - Plastic Bamboo
15. Kyoko Furuya - Harumi Futoh

Disc 2: Funky & Mellow
01. Tamami Koyake - You Wanna Rain
02. Arakawa Band - Funky Fanky
03. Mikio Masuda - Mickey's Samba
04. Shuichi "Ponta" Murakami - Huang Di
05. Eri Ohno - Skyfire
06. Pecker - Concrete Jungle
07. Ryojiro Furusawa - Moonlight Slumber
08. Kiyoshi Sugimoto - Night Train
09. Kazumi Watanabe - Mellow Sunshine
10. Eri Ohno - Living Inside Your Love
11. Kazumi Watanabe - I'll Be There
12. Mikio Masuda - Moon Stone

At least half of the tracks come from albums shared here tho.

these are very cool, thank you

You're welcome! Glad you like em

Re-requesting The Fruit Will Rot Vol. 3, can't find it anywhere

Can any anons post more shit like this until we can get our hands on the comp? I have:

Mariah - Utakata No Hibi
Yasuaki Shimizu - Kakashi

Both are great.

I'm looking for the full HKE discography, searched in the archives and essential links of he sticky without luck. Anyone?

Anybody got Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time? Archive's down.

requesting squarepusher's ultravisitor cuz archive is down

thanks man

anytime dude

Requesting Blair Crimmins & The Hookers album Sing-a-Longs

digging this
got any more ambient drone field recording stuff?

Glad you like it! It's one of my favorites. I absolutely do have more. I don't know how much of it isn't already in the archive, though. I have to run some errands but if the thread is still going in the evening I'll come back and try to hook you up with another album or two.

Have you heard Chill Out by The KLF? It's sort of entry-level ambient, but it carries on with the field recordings and automotive theme of Lay-by Lullaby. And it's just perfect in general. I'm sure there's a copy in the archive if you want to check that out.

Otherwise, I'll try to be back with more tonight!

Thanks dude, much appreciated

getting these now, thanks!

thank god for sharethreads

This is neither ambient nor drone nor field recording, but has a similiar vibe and you might enjoy it:
