Rec me some patrician hip-hop. I don't want any of that trap shit.

Pic related, it's the best hip-hop album.

Correct.

...

Lemme get this straight

You like rappers like MF Doom because their lyrics are very deep, even if their beats are lacking in comparison

You hate trap because the lyrics are mumbly and meaningless, even though you probably don't pay the underlying beat any attention.

it seems to me you just have shit taste in beats OP

Madvillainy has good music. 234/1000; one of the best hip-hop albums!

>lyricism is all that matters in hip hop

how's the trilby fitting?

Go away autist, nobody wants to hear about your shitty ratings.

Is this an ironic post?

I like the music but their music is kind of lazy

Mf doom has serious lyrics your joking right

i didn't know my word usage was unclear. let me try again

the words MF Doom says in his black people songs are very good, but the music sounds that he says his words over are not as good as the words he says

the words people like drake and desiigner say are no good but the music that they say the words over are very good.

You got it allllll wrong.
DOOM's lyrics aren't trying to be meaningful. They rhyme good but they are not deep at all. Madlib's beats are very very good. Did you even listen to the album

>madlib makes bad beats

This and pic relate, also his mix tape 1999 is amazing

tru

...

>hasn't heard of Das Racist

Holy shit how new are you.

also endtroducing and liquid swords

...

How to tell if someone is new to rap? Their favorite album Madvillainy.

You guys need to stop relying so heavily on ratings. This album is a 6/10 at best and it's not even DOOM'S best project.

>Madlib's beats are very very good.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but even those aren't very well made. They're usually just barely changed samples. I could probably recreate every one of them with FL Studio in an afternoon.

this album and his entire career of weedcarriers are redundant when rawkus records exists

...

...

>being this retarded

I love trap, but it sounds like you just have shit taste in your "black people music" choices if you actually think Madlib beats are bad.

I'll give you that MV isn't DOOM's best project, but to say that it's a 6/10 is ridiculous 2bh, it's very easily a 9 and one of the best records of the 2000s.

Also, not changing the samples significantly doesn't mean that Madlib's production isn't good. It means he didn't change the samples significantly, and nothing more. The amount of effort put into making art does not equal its quality.

Underground backpacker shit is fucking terrible and you guys should ashamed for liking it.

Sup Forums still as clueless as ever

This this this. Nights gambit and grief pedigree are also amazinf

Never heard of him, what's his best album or whatever?

well, I looked up some madlib stuff after looking through this thread.
Hooked onto Can't Hold On from MED

And now I'm going through Bobby Caldwell.
Thank you Sup Forums.

Mf doom operation doomsday
Nas illmatic
Beastie boys licensed to ill, ill communication
Notorious b.i.g. ready to die
Pharcyde bizarre ride II

OP you might want to identify a style of rap you like and listen to the patrician version there of.

for example, I'm a huge can of New York rap, so I'd recommend roc Marciano, ka, wu tang (OB4CL 1 and 2, liquid swords, blackout, tical, fishscale, supreme clientele) mobb deep, jadakiss, Redman, blue chips 1 and 2.

Southern rap fans, hipster rap fans, meme rap fans, west coast fans can make their own suggestions.

Oh and nas (though so many people have bitten his style it's a but dated now)

Probably my favourite west coast album

I guess i'll start us off

Mac Dre

>Also, not changing the samples significantly doesn't mean that Madlib's production isn't good.

The only reason they're good is because of the sample. Madlib isn't the reason his beats are good, it's the sample doing most of the work.

quik has an incredible discography and sans maybe ghostface or e-40 is the only 90's rapper still releasing albums who hasn't fallen off

why does nobody ever talk about the beastie boys on Sup Forums?

too popular

not much to talk about also

>even if their beats are lacking in comparison

best part of Madvilliany you fuck

literally has no fucking clue what he's talking about

... it's because they're jew isn't it?

Bro Shitsville is all time. Madlib's manic strings and Freddie's flow, plus the whole indictment on hypocrisy. Great stuff.

>the only reason they're good is because of the sample
which madlib chose

Best hip-hop album coming through

good list senpai

cant get into busdriver, best place to start?

Not current I guess. theyre some of the greatest though. Shake Your Rump popped off at a normie party the other day

I started with Perfect Hair and that was the first I heard of him. One of my favorite albums ever
After that check out cosmic cleavage (my personal preference, it's a jazzy, fun and very nicely flowing album exploring his love life) or temporary forever, which is his most acclaimed album. I also recommend his collaborative album The Weather, it's fun

Bootin

Here's some good industrial hip hop for your ass

Here's a fun concept album to mix it up

Production isn't the best, but Illogic is a top-tier lyricist imo.

Aes Rock came out with a new album not TOO long ago, if you're a fan and in the case you might've missed it.

Fucking great album. Have you listened to his new one?

No, but I really should do.

Dorks is nuts man. TIK is my AOTYSF

It's pretty good, but absolutely nothing like Celestial. A lot more subdued. He has good lyrics per usual tho

...

>Asheriv

Hahaha it's Asheru bud

>AOTYSF
I'm just happy he got a new fucking producer lol. No offense to Blockhead, his solo shit's straight af

I didn't name the file, just saved it. Meh...

Check out Bones by Kno, sick ass album.

reloaded, though all of his projects are great

u r a idiot

Ya it was a natural progression for him to do more on his own. This is also just a more personal project for him
Gotcha
Marcberg will always be my fave
