Owner of the Oakland Raiders wants to move the team to Las Vegas

What are your thoughts, Sup Forums? Should a city like Las Vegas deserve an NFL team? If not, who does?

why not, no team has had success their before, its a gamble(how appropriate)

vegas fans are shit tier, but there's enough money in vegas (obviously) where of course other owners would like that because MUH LUXURY BOXES

feel bad for real working class fans of the rams, chargers and raiders, they don't deserve to have their teams taken as owners chase money

the rams kinda deserved it... I assume you haven't been to the the Dome(its fucking shit)

old people won't like it because >muh gambling

but absolutely, it should have a team. Regardless IIRC isn't the gambling scene kinda dying out there and nightclubs are taking over? Plus you can bet on sports online so it's not like Vegas is the only place in the world you can do that. And if you think about it, plenty of historical places with teams have had gambling forever like New Orleans and New Jersey so that is pretty hypocritical of the league

1. Who is paying for what will have to be a $1Bn+ dome?
2. Would Vegas turn out for a local team? IE how many people there are from the area and aren't transplants bringing in their old loyalties? Last thing *any* league needs is another team where the big name teams show up and it's another home game for them
3. What would they be called?

not the rams fans their owner is shit and the coach he hired is shit

yeah the dome is old as dirt but they shouldn't have to pay for it. kinda sad a city won a superb owl and their team leaves. greatest show on turf era had great fans

>Should a city like Las Vegas deserve an NFL team?
I'm not sure I agree with your grammar, but to the sentiment the answer is Yes, of course Yes.

The city is more than big enough to sustain a pro team, the only reason there aren't any there is because of a ban due to gambling-- the leagues don't want a pro team in the heart of where you could bet money on that same team.

But then this week suddenly all the owners remembered that they are soulless money-making machines with no moral compass, and it's all good, buddy.

Wait, this """"""""sport"""""""" let's teams just move wherever they want in the country?
What's the point of even supporting your local team if they just going to fuck off somewhere else? What a mess

it's not exclusive to Murrika, you know

They're not permanently staying there though, and they're not changing their name and badge and everything.

Only time its happened here is with Wimbledon, who got rebranded and relocated to Milton Keynes. They got and still get a bunch of shit for it

agreed. Of course, the NFL isn't a sport, its a league, so you're off on that a bit.

If Las Vegas get an NFL team as well as the upcoming NHL team what will they be called?

Las Vegas Aces sounds great and I've heard "Black Knights" but its a bit shit

Las Vegas Pokerfaces
Las Vegas Waterwasters
Las Vegas Stripers

>Stripers

you mean strippers famalam?

...

No
It won't happen anyways
Jacksonville doesn't deserve a team but there's not really another city who is "worthy"

yeah

maybe the Las Vegas Don Diegos would do it to

Wrong state

DO EEET you crazy afterbirth

Vegas is a cheap flight and a lot of us want a home team.

Don't you have your own version of football?

desu I doubt he's able to afford both the $500 million he's pledged to the stadium in Vegas and whatever relocation fee the NFL would throw at him. It's yet another one of crazy Mark's ploys to get a stadium in Oakland.

Vegas is a shithole. Oakland is too, but at least they don't pretend they're not.

I love how these teams with no hometown loyalty are always shit

That's a kind way of putting it.

Or when Dial square rebranded, or Yids going to the football stadium, or that literally who becoming Manchester City, or Fulham

>feel bad for real working class fans of the rams
the rams were stolen from LA 20 years ago

this. go look at the highest crime zips in the US. several vegas ones are way higher than you'd guess.

Is stealing something that nobody wanted stealing in the first place?

stadium was pretty empty in St. Lou too. How you see it depends on which side of it you're on.

>they don't deserve to have their teams taken as owners chase money
They don't deserve shit
It's not their team. It's not even a team
It's Mr. Kroenke's business
And as such if he feels that he's not making enough money he has every right to get the fuck out of that market and move on to something else

Don't give sports some social meaning bullshit
It's worthless

Mostly cars being broken into and druggies beating on each other. It's not like the Bears killing fields.

>It's an "Americucks defending their corporate masters" post

Every time I see a response like this, I HOPE it's bait

Fuck off
This doesn't concern you

I'm not giving meaning to a bunch of men playing with a ball

So here's the situation, the NFL does not fucking want the Raiders in LA. I have no idea why they just don't. Probably because of Muh gangs. Well as you all should know. The Raiders have the right to move and share the Rams stadium, IF the Chargers get their stadium built. With me so far?

Chargers in San Diego=Rams and Raiders in LA

HOWEVER,The wildcard Las Vegas aka UNLV football has bought this prime land behind the MGM grand and is wiling to build a stadium for the college, and an NFL team *wink wink* the raiders. Mark Davis knows Oakland will never build a new stadium because they want to use the money for rebuilding the city, etc. (mini San Fancisco)

What I see happening is the League give the Raiders the OK to move assuming the new billion dollar stadium is the real deal. Why?!

Jerry jones and Stan Kronke aka the Jews behind the inglewood stadium. Kronke knows the Raiders will always be more popular than the Ramd so you know he'd rather have the raiders in vegas instead of LA. Jerry loves money. And dean spanos. Wants raider fans as far away as possible from San Diego.

In conclusion, Las Vegas Raiders is very possible and don't sleep on it.

It's breaking the sports and gambling taboo

Knowledge is power, user.

Online gambling is the future user. We all know it. The stigma about Vegas is changing. In the next 2 years vegas will have an NBA team, NHL team, and NFL team. With baseball raising eyebrows wondering how they can get in on that new money.

Okay, first of all there's not that much money in having a team in Las Vegas
It's the 40th biggest tv market in the US
I live in the 37th biggest and the biggest thing we have is Single A baseball

Second, while Vegas wouldn't be the smallest market with a NFL team, there's also the "No surrounding markets" like New Orleans has

Third, it really seems unlikely they'd have any real fanbase in the city

You combine those things and Las Vegas will never have a team in the big 3
The NHL is doing so because they're desperate and this is a hail mary really

First off, if the NFL doesn't want the Raiders in LA, it's because they'd rather make more money in a new city than split the city (which theyve tried before), more than likely though, it's Davis who doesn't want LA for the same reason. He's already looked at San Antonio, too.

Second, Jerry Jones is a follower of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I will not hear you blaspheme again.

Why Las Vegas has no NBA/NFL/MLB/NHL team ?

Is it because of the gambling ?

That's most of the reason
But really if it wasn't Vegas would still be a bad choice because of what I laid out

NFL team in Vegas would never work. Everything around would be just one massive distraction for dindus who've suddenly come to way too much money. Would make for hilarious headlines though.

>thinking the shanty town of Oakland deserves anything much less a football team

hahahajajajajajhahahahahahhahahaha

Yes.

I see that you, too, read Drew Magary's article on Deadspin, OP.

But you know what? Drew is totally right. The Raiders, more than any team in football, belong in Las Vegas. It's the perfect marriage of team and city. There is literally no more perfect team for Vegas than the Raiders.

>gambling throughout concourses
>prostitution in your private suite

Let's not be hasty, user.

>Who is paying for what will have to be a $1Bn+ dome?
city of las vegas I would imagine, they'd get a super bowl a few times and they could host all kinds of music acts and monster truck rallys

a casino is another option or a casino ownership group

>Would Vegas turn out for a local team?
they just need the tourists to show up to 16 games, and the media can just hype up anyone to be a "star"

>Last thing *any* league needs is another team where the big name teams show up and it's another home game for them
happens every single chargers home game when a hardcore fanbase shows up....people watch their team AND take a phat vaca

>What would they be called?
who gives a shit, they'll have bucs tier stupid uniforms anyways

> "No surrounding markets"
3 hour drive from LA with Sunday being hungover/day drinking game day
>like New Orleans has
can be completely shitfaced on the streets in vegas, just like NO

>Third, it really seems unlikely they'd have any real fanbase in the city
do they need one? they fly in musical acts and circus acts and all kinds of entertainment from literally all over the world, the NFL will market the shit out of any new franchise and they just need 16 weeks of foreigners seeing NFL football and buying "souvenirs"

>Okay, first of all there's not that much money in having a team in Las Vegas
biggest gambling income in the entirety of the united states....compound after compound of world class bars, clubs, restaurants, buffets, entertainment, hookers, strip bars, thunder down under and so on.....so all the money spent and generated can be easily steered into NFL tickets

local TV market? lol they get blacked out if they don't sell enough tickets, they'll just broadcast on national TV and the west coast and utah and oregon and the surrounding area that has no NFL team the casinos will pay to have the games in the casinos blah blah blah the jews will find a way to make their dollar they always do

You realize the NFL has a salary cap right? It's not like a Vegas team could pay their roster more than anyone else.

>>who gives a shit, they'll have bucs tier stupid uniforms anyways
>A leaf having the gall to insult the silver and black.

I bet you're one of those faggots who think the Charger's powder blue is the best.

Why they gotta be black knights, fucking cis scum

sounded like he was implying they'd be rebranded when they move to vegas, but yeah that's also a pretty stupid implication. the raiders can go suck a fat one, but even I can admit their whole design is classic.

Raiders should remain the Raiders. To much history behind them and Al didn't change the name when they moved to LA and then back.

Fuck you tumblr shitposter.

Some dumb kid is gonna go broke pretty fast at the casino, some dumb kid is gonna test positive for a cocktail of drugs. It'll be fine after a while, but there are a lot of dumb kids in the NFL

>using Al Davis' behavior as a good example

Just no.

Odells brother wants to move the team as well

even without putting Al into the equation, rebranding the Raiders would be one of the all-time worst decisions in sports. if they were gonna do that, pick almost any other team to relocate there, or wait a decade or more for an expansion team. the Raiders should always stay that way, even if they have to move, and anyone saying anything else is clinically retarded.

>muh history

Typical attitude of a shitter.

He wasn't suggesting that the players would get paid more, he was implying that their off-field antics of drinking, gambling, and partying all over Vegas all the time would be a huge, embarrassing spectacle.

Think about it, instead of flying there to party a few times a year like most NFL players do, the players on the Vegas team would walk right out of practice and into the casinos, bars, and strip clubs. They would all be broke and constantly making headlines for doing something stupid at a bar or club.

>having a pirate-themed team in the middle of the desert nowhere near the sea

sure, makes perfect sense

Just call them the Vegas High Rollers and be done with it.

Because Panthers are found in the Carolinas (Black Panthers especially so), Jaguars in Florida, Bison in New York, Titans in Tennessee, Bengals in Cincinnati, lions in Detroit, Vikings in Minnesota, or Rams in the area of LA.

So of course if all these other teams are good with it, we should change the name of the Raiders.

If you have no stake in the Raiders lore or the team itself, why would you get riled up if they kept the name Raiders no matter where they moved? You'd be just petty if you want to throw away the history of the franchise being one of the original American Football League teams who then fought to keep their League relevant as a part of the merger with the NFL.

Upset AFC West fandom?

Carolina Panthers are located in Charlotte which is 35% black, so I'm sure they have some black panther party members there.

Jaguars were never in Florida, true, they have some cougars there though, should've used that name.

Bison at one time roamed New York.

Titans, Bengals, Lions makes no sense.

Many people of Scandinavian descent settled in the midwest so Vikings makes sense for Minnesota.

Bighorn sheep are native to Southern California so no issue with the Rams.
