Most Europeans look back on the 1950s as a good time. Our homes were safe, to the point where many people did not bother to lock their doors. Public schools were generally excellent, and their problems were things like talking in class and running in the halls. Most men treated women like ladies, and most ladies devoted their time and effort to making good homes, rearing their children well and helping their communities through volunteer work. Children grew up in two–parent households, and the mother was there to meet the child when he came home from school. Entertainment was something the whole family could enjoy.
What happened?

I miss communism, do you not?

this happend

>Most Europeans look back on the 1950s as a good time
west europe was still shit tho
widespread rationing, marshall plan had barely started to produce results many cities still with rubble in the streets

and east europe was east europe-tier bad

the 50's were bad for everyone but the U.S

And Sweden.

>What happened?
WW1
WW2
Marxism
Materalism
Spiritualism
Relativism.

...

The 50s weren't too hot for Europe, IIRC. Things were much better in the US; the US I'd say was probably the best western country to be in from the early 19th century to the 1970s.

This. 1950's America was God-tier if you weren't Black, Gay, or a Woman.

Only if you were also Christian.

Arguable even blacks had it better back then along with women.

I feel like it wasn't till the 60's when things got out of hand

are mormons christian?

Mormons are an American's final form.

>Arguable even blacks had it better back then along with women.
I don't think they'd see it that way with Jim Crow/disenfranchisement and all that.

To the extent that they consider Jesus Christ to be divine in some way, yes, they are all memes aside Christians, although Mormonism is batshit crazy. Mormons are cool though.

>le paradisiac 50s

The 1950s in this country was more Orwellian than idyllic. Hyper massive government, heavily propagandized public combined with a repressively conformist culture whose strongly traditional values were bolstered by the (materially and financially) flourishing middle class. Yes, compared to nearly every other country, we enjoyed the benefits of an unrivaled high-yielding economy.

This; as good as the 50s were, I'd say the 90s were the best time to be an American, although >2016 ain't that bad, either.

I miss Vargas. My father says he used to sleep outside the house almost everynight because there was no need for protection of any kind.

Problem were resumed to dought, that could simply be solved by digging a well and living peacefully.

Now the southern crime is coming up north, =((((

Thank you for these posts. I've really come to hate how neo alt-rightist cucks and other internet fedora kings fetishize the 1950s. Why the fuck do you think the 60s saw a gigantic counter-culture movement? I mean if this nonsense were coming from my grandpa, i'd understand since everyone his age thinks that the 50s were heaven. But it's another level of faggotry when this same romantic bullshit is coming from a millenial.
>I'd say the 90s were the best time to be an American
this, by a fucking mile.

That era was almost an abnormal, uncharacteristic period in American history. We are and have always been a libertarian, every-man-for-himself, individualistic society except for the odd 30 or so years in the middle of the 20th century when we came to adopt this strange, socialistic Borg mindset where people were like carpenter ants and believed everything the government and corporations told them without question.

Thankfully the baby boomers, whatever other faults they may have had, returned things to normal.

It's disturbing how much this reminds one of Soviet propaganda art.

...

Desu I feel absolutely no need to lock my doors.

Don't know what that's all about but in Britain there is no nostalgia for the 50s, a) because rationing and austerity and everything was awful, and b) because they're too busy wanking over maps of the world in 1880 and mumbling Britannia rules the waves, forgetting that life was shit for all but the landed gentry. Some folks have some nostalgia for the 60s, but more for the music than the way of life.

Also while wage standards haven't decreased too much, living costs, especially in housing (ESPECIALLY in London) have soared over the last few decades, while demand for skilled labour has been replaced by demand for unskilled service jobs in call centres and the like in the capital, so people who would have been comfortably middle class before Thatcher are now sharing a tiny apartment with 4 friends all of them making shit money.

>What happened?
The US won

It was pretty good here too.

When did Brazil become shit?

> 1950s Spain
> Fascist oppression
> postwar starvation
> Church authorities banning everything that's fun, including dances in which men and women "dance too close to each other"
> illiteracy galore
> no mixed sex schools, ever
> political prisoners slaving off in death camps
> if your neighbour hates you, he can turn you in so you become one of those slaves
> starving families split in two because of mass emigration
> no industry, no culture, no nothing

Yeah we totally long for the 50s OP

>because they're too busy wanking over maps of the world in 1880 and mumbling Britannia rules the waves
top jej

>live in Montana, a northern US state
>only things to worry about are the occasional drunk horse riders (not a meme, we have had a couple people ride their horses into our property and pass out), and the occasional grizzly bear
>have guns so none of this is a problem
>sleep with the door unlocked
>sleep with a .357 in my nightstand, a 12 gauge shotgun behind the door, and a 9 mm in my closet
>pretty comfy desu

We glamorize mostly the 80s desu.

>Most Europeans
not here, they were pretty shit. religious domination of the culture and government in full swing. borderline communism mixed with catholic ethos meant for fucking horrible times for most except those so wealthy and affluent it didn't matter

From what I understand things were class in the States though

that period was mordor here
till 56 atleast
then it was mordor lite where you just killed yourself instead of letting others do it

What can I do in terms of work in Montana?
