NEW ALBUM SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE SOMETIME LATE IN AUTUMN

Hoping it'll turn out lit f a m. Literally drowning in ideas and songs. And field recordings! TOO many field recordings. New instruments on this one too. Jaw harp, kalimba, wooden xylophone, tubular bells, djembe, pan pipes, etcetera. (I don't actually own most of these. My friends and I just go to music stores and muck around.) In the meantime, here's this stale old album. 23 full downloads. Thanks guys.

>lo-fi pop crap inspired by the Music Tapes, Neutral Milk Hotel, Jeff Mangum's WFMU shows, a Hawk and a Hacksaw, early of Montreal, Daniel Johnston, Brian Wilson, Marshmallow Coast, Syd Barrett, the Ladybug Transistor, R. Stevie Moore, Joe Meek, Guided by Voices, Beatles, Animal Collective, Robert Wyatt, the Olivia Tremor Control, etc.
>attempts at "lush" arrangements using harmonica, recorder, chimes, rain stick, accordion, fake bassoon, Hanna-Barbera cartoon sound effects, bird noises, singing saw, tambourine, fake glockenspiel, synthesizers, classical guitar, a fence, violin, water, lap harp, banjo, soda can, microtonal (busted) ukelele, field recordings, vocal harmonies, etc.
>crunchy
>cringey lyrics about the bittersweet feeling of graduating high school and stuff like that
>includes attempt at a "ragtime" song

As I've said before, I liked "I'm So Lame" a lot better, but this still has a nice riff and nice crisp drums. It gives off too much of a "generic indie" vibe to my ears though, which "I'm So Lame" did not.

3rd track is the beautiful standout. Those drippy water sounds. The muffled music in the background.

this sounds lofi in a way tahts cool. wish my 4 track sounded like this. the perfornances are good but the songwriting and lyrics are kinda limpdicked to me personally. would have liked more variation in the composition

i love your voice, it sounds like the guy some silversun pickups a little. your songwriting is pretty nice thoughout most of the tracks ive listened to.

your vocals sound MEDIEVAL. i like how campy these songs sound. you guys performances are really nice and the productions pretty alright

pretty catchy. sound qual is dece. i like the mix style of the vox

the sample at the beginning of the album is cool. might have to come back to this one. anti social butterfly is pretty good. def rec this one. only suggestion would be to diversify your sounds, different kits and bass sounds etc.

not really into noise, but i'll give you props for heading into a difficult genre to gain listeners in.
fav on here would be there's something in the ventilation shafts.

as i said with the above, this type of stuff isn't my cup of tea. but the 3rd track on this album was pretty interesting.

this stuff is alright. listened to the transient life album. dig the darker sound. liking the 2nd track so far. also, nice piano work.

wew lad, you have a shit load of songs on this album. good guitar work, and you've got a good voice for this type of music. sorry, not didn't get to listen to all 26 tracks.

not bad, i like the intensity of Bro, Van, and Dismememem..?

sounds like you have some pretty good composing skills. was diggin the 1st track for a while. sorry, can't spend a whole hr on this album.

again, not really my thing, but props for taking on this genre.

very smooth, and chill. dece sound qual. monolith is a pretty good track.

cool, them samples in jimmy vs the guinea worm. can't say i've really heard anything like this. kind of makes you wonder wtf is coming next, in a good way. rec this one.

1st track is pretty catchy. also like the darker sound in the last track. sound qual could use some work, unless that's what you're going for.

alright, desu, this was a tough listen for me. i am generally all for more abstract stuff but this isn't for me. good luck, i wish ya the best.

(1/2)

bro you could at least walk a few steps away from your neckbeard nest to take a blurry picture

The theme of the album is drunkenly throwing shit around in a DAW and exerting as little effort as possible to clean it up. The blurry picture of a desk with the stuff moved off to one side, save a beer, is entirely indicative of the music and artist, user.
See the art, be the art.

and to think you probably jerked off in that very spot before you imagined your artistic thinkpeice

I appreciate the artistic vision but under the guy has a point. There's a thin line between 'Art' and not putting the effort in. One of those differences being that with 'Art' you're not really focused on sharing it with others.

Basically, take the one piece of (thinly veiled) critique that you're getting today.

this is actually some of the best qual i've heard in this thread so far. good musical skill and good voice for this style.

this is ok, then again my taste is pretty fucked. fav track, settle down.

really liked the guitar and bass tones in dig it

interesting, i like the transition from the lighter sounding intro to the distortion at the end.

you've got potential, but bruh, dat sound qual. boys in skirts sounds cool.

good sound qual, good voice, smooth instruments. smooth. workin late is pretty groovin.

sorry, that something isn't here, sorry.

nice key work, took an unexpected turn towards the end. nice voice (silver sun)

i like the feel of the intro. david sorry is good. dat voice on in the light.

really like the guit tones on danger ahead. and love the way the snare sounds, idk why.

good mixing. nice blend of guitars and electro. good voice.

this is pretty comfy. very chill. fav track shire.

interesting style. fav track soft spheres. dat low snare.

Description:
"Welcome to Hotel Songs. Please, enjoy your stay. I have been delivered to relay information and guidelines pertaining to your album listening experience. Hotel Songs is not to be listened to loudly, or on headphones. It is instead recommended that you find a small, clean, and well lit room in which to take residence, and a set of speakers through which to play your copy of Hotel Songs. Enjoy the album at low volumes, and let your mind wander. Are you ready? Well then, let us commence Hotel Songs.

I'll see you three nights from now."
- Eric Taxxon

As we stumble into the charade of luxury that often comes with a hotel, we often find ourselves resting well in an odd state of ambiguity and vagueness. In his second effort for Jacob And Friends, Eric Taxxon brings an album that displays that faux luxury that often we absolve ourselves into, all viewed through a lens of lush and repetitive minimal techno, intending on delivering a cozy experience to the listener.

Now available for stream and download!

Support, scrobble, or review on RYM. Any feedback of any kind would be greatly appreciated. And give Eric some love. Thank You. :)

Will still be accepting submissions for the label.

Glad you asked, haven't because of socialization and shit but there's a small pile of kind of softer, ""synthy"" tracks made. It's still experimental but not glitchy at all and more odd-sounding than anything else. I can't really pinpoint a specific sound to what it sounds like (and the tracks aren't really complete either, so can't upload it).

Hey it's The Friends

Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate that. I've been listening to your EP and I think it's very cool, it's no holds barred and that gives it a lot of awesome energy. My biggest suggestion would be to make the vocals sit into the song a little more. I did that with a some reverb or maybe some sort of light distortion in your case. I think that might make it sound awesome.

Thanks
