How about this masterpiece

Bumping with last months beaut

Lewd

wait what? 7 strings??

how learn theory ?

>7 strings??
hey buddy I think you've got the wrong door
the elementary school's two blocks down

learn actual theory and not "guitar theory"

...

is this website a virus?

streetmusician.co.uk/whylearnscales/

Read a book faggot

>youtu.be/Nlq6p10iQyQ?t=155
can anyone help me figure out how to play this riff?

Is there anyone who plays a 7+ string outside of metal?

practical music theory by justin sandercoe.
seriously, Justinguitar has everything you'll ever need until you reach above intermediate level.

Just found this on a local luthiers site.

amphibianman94 has some pretty nice music theory lessons

he doesn't over complicate things and it is about general theory, though he uses a guitar to help visualize things

>Luthiers that make Fender/Gibson clones

I hate this shit. It's not hard to be original.

nylon 8 strings sound comfy as fuck

Some jazz guitarists (George Van Eps, Bucky Pizarelli) and Russian Folk singers/

be honest lad... are you amphibianman94?

Reddit The Band

lel no, I thought it sounded a bit shilly when posting that

don't forget to subscribe to amphibianman94 though, word on the street is he's coming back in a big way

but for real I wish he didn't just stop with his music theory series

I agree to a point but I don't really mind it as they still can look pretty good.

No, that would be Steam Powered Giraffe

Not only I hate his faggot ass music (let's cram in three instrument in the high register, but also two in the low register), but I also hate how he claims he "invented a technique" when it's just repeated tapped notes (which had already been done before).

Alright guys, HSS vs SSS, tell me about 'em and which ones do you prefer?

Bonus points if people can tell me about the Fender Special Edition Stratocaster (Mexican) HSS Candy Red Burst. Some guy on my local CL is selling it for 250 and I'm searching for a new electric.

Thanks

>messing with perfection

HSS if you want a guitar that can do as much as possible. SSS if you want the strat tone.

CAN'T STOP, WON'T STOP

>perfection
the telecaster was designed to be as cheap as possible

>your door bell rings
>"C'mon, user! We need to go review some gear at Andertons."

Do guitarists like being stupid or what?

Get it if it's good. HSS is more versatile, you can pick up an SSS pick guard and change it later if you want.

if I had the opportunity of getting paid to wank a guitar on tape, say it's good and just pull of some shitty shred, I'd jump on it.

This: musictheory.net/lessons

One of the best educational websites I've come across.

Ok but I'm only doing this 'cause you cut off those stupid fucking white man dreads already m8.

>yet people keep buying them

Chappers already got rid of them :D

...

>buying picks for more than 50 cents

The fuck?

In Bongland they cost 50 penneroonies :(

There are no riffs in this song

I own a strat copy with the SSS configuration and comparing it to real Fender production guitars, I'd say they are just about even. I do like versatility though.

I like having versatility, so I am definitely thinking about this.

I did call the owner and left a voicemail. Hopefully he'll call me back

What do you guys think of the new 2017 models?

>gibson

not impressed

what's a good acoustic electric below $150?

none

This fuckin' real?

Yamerhuh

Yeah, a bunch of them got released on third party sites.

Hmmmm.. what kind of bull-diddly-shit did they do to this years models?

Say what you will about gibbos, but personally I think they're beautiful.

They just added some new colours and a new LP model.

>he doesn't own a washburn in current year

I prefer the guitars where the end bit where you adjust the strangs is diagonal and all the string twisters are in a row rather than having them on either side.

...

cant believe i'm saying that but this $350 bass is miles better than my previous $499 sterling ray by musicman

fucking amazing sustain and tone
heavy as fuck because maple body but hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngh it's a slap machine

>maple body

huh

what

>he believes the "fenders were designed to be cheap guitars" meme
wew

body is made of "soft maple"
sounds like that

youtube.com/watch?v=7DLpLekM8NY

Yamawho?

The telecaster most certainly was.

If anything its something that is way too often neglected. People will buy guitars that cost several thousand dollars but use a pick that costs $0.05 ,the object that is literally striking the string and producing much of the "tone" you hear.

Violinists will spend hundreds on a nice bow because how you strike the strings is important. It's no different with guitars. The picks I use are about $10/15 a piece and they make a huge difference in volume and dynamic control, mostly on acoustic guitars though.

Learn what a note is.
Learn how many notes there are in a scale.
Learn how many intervals (semitones) are in between each note in each type of scale (major + minor to start).
Learn why those notes are spaced from each other in their specific.
Learn how certain notes played together can make certain kinds of chords based on the intervals between each of the notes played together.
Learn the patterns for creating different kinds of chords (major, minor, dominant 7th, major 7th, diminished to start).
Learn the respective chord for each note of each particular scale (major + minor to start).
Learn how playing certain chords in different progressions can lend to playing different kinds of melodies.

From here you can go onto the intermediate stuff like chord theory and voice leading with respect to more complex chord progressions, and how to smartly construct a song utilizing this kind of knowledge so everything sounds coherent while still sounding original. Theory definitely isn't necessary to being a good guitar player, but it absolutely helps especially if you're not sure where to go next when you're playing. If anything, it just helps you better play in key, which is essential.

Is there a site where you can enter fingerings onto a fretboard and it will tell you the chord name?

chorderator.com/designer/

But you really should just learn the notes then figure out what chords you can make from that. It'd be very good knowledge to retain. Also learn the respective chord shapes so you can play that chord in any key.

I want to squirt some electronics contact cleaner on that pickup selector.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping to do

They remind me of a sedan

>HE FELL FOR IT

Post boards

you mean this? there's a gibson for everyone, user :)

This looks like it'd be great for my band- Loose Change.

We play covers at local bars. We play ZZ Top, Nirvana, Journey, Aerosmith etc.

jokes on you i don't have any pedals

is dat sum thunderbird

youtube.com/watch?v=LSJdUWVnk6Q

is this you senpai

Excuse you.

No but it figures a lot of people would try to use such a good name ;)

I normally use my LP into my AXE FX (I use a rack setup with a MIDI controller at my feet) but I have been known to bring my SG, my strat, and my Ovation acoustic depending on setlist.

To do list:
Replace MT-2 with a not shit distortion pedal
Add Reverb
Add Tremolo

Firebird. Thunderbird is the bass model.

Why does /gg/ dislike modeling amps? I just got a THR and it sounds fucking great. Give me one good reason why I shouldn't sell my old 50W solid state.

...

"Old 50W solid state" is nothing to write home about either.

My Laney Linebacker 30W solid state that's over 20 years old sounds like trash compared to a pocket pod. It's got a really nasty and gritty overdrive + mid scoop though.

>50W solid state

No wonder you think modelshit sounds good

I bought a pickguard for 100 bucks. But I'm a bassist.

...

Okay, standard tuning.

There's a low drone on the open E.

Got the rhythm and melody parts in pic related.

At least, that's what it sounds like to me. Fades in with an envelope filter type thing and volume swell at the very beginning of course.

Favorite string brand?

I like Ernie Ball

I had to rotate it due to my OCD.

How do you find the Topanga? I find very splashy reverb to be quite psychedelic.

Just Daddario nickel wounds.

Blurry
And yep I know I have them all in a weird order it sounds good tho

>bluesdriver
My nigga

>Tab for Algeranon

Did anyone else end up with the guitar they didn't really want because they could only have one guitar rather than a set that can be used for different circumstances, and they don't have that much money?

I ended up with a Fender Jazz Bass and a Fender Stratocaster.

I'd much rather have a Rickenbacker and a Jazzmaster.

Why do Ernie Balls receive such differing opinions? Seems like people either love them or think they're complete garbage.

I fucking love the Blues Driver

By itself it's very tame and non splashy, but if you put an OD after it becomes overpowered and you can barely hear the reverb.

I'll trade your Jazz Bass and Strat for my Fireglo Ric

>tfw own a Jazzmaster and a Jazz Bass
>tfw all I'm missing is my own Rick 4003S

pls god

Rickenbacker's are extremely overrated.

I do too but fuck mine is way too bright. It's the only pedal i've used where I have the tone knob "off"
